Description

Device for generating high-frequency vibrations, in particular for the transmission of messages. The subject of the invention is a device for generating high-frequency swings, which can be used with advantage in particular for the transmission of messages.

In this device, with the help of a continuous flow of air, Jin acoustic system (whistle, whistle, siren or the like) is set in vibration in such a way that it generates air waves of a frequency above 4000 (above speaking frequency) and that these air waves then move to a periodic vibratory or 'aperiodic KZi *, tI) er <B> (' </B> plate microphone, flame micro- plioll. 'tongue or the like), which is dimensioned so

that <B> it </B> is able to follow the frequencies of the air waves and, for its part, electrical conflict changes suitable as an offense to an oscillation circuit. evokes. The Galton whistle has proven particularly successful as an acoustically isolate system.

The invention is therefore based on the devices known for medical purposes for generating pulsating direct current respectively. of alternating currents. The first-mentioned type of device is known to work in such a way that a microphone is attached to the junction of a whistle, which is connected in series with a direct current source, and the second type is represented in particular by the Larsen acoustic alternating current generator, which, however, only has one Microphone-telephone-buzzer with acoustic intermediate circuit used.

In spite of these devices, which have been known for a long time, there has been no use of any kind of acoustic systems for the generation of high-frequency oscillations, which is all the more understandable as it seems in no way possible in purely theoretical terms that any success could be achieved with air waves over speaking frequency.

It was by no means to be foreseen, as is now certain, that although the already extremely sensitive human ear reacts only relatively very little to high and highest notes, a microphone should react to it, and if it does react, so will it the high number of contacts is achieved with the necessary security and magnitude of the amplitude. From the acoustic system, too, it could not simply be assumed that the waves it delivered would have the required strength of amplitude and purity.

Extensive tests have now actually proven the possibility of a very excellent high-frequency generation in this area that meets all requirements. If, for example, a Galton whistle is used and the air waves generated are brought into action on a microphone, then, if the setting of the whistle and the strength of the blowing pressure are correctly selected, the whistle generates air waves with a frequency of over 4000 that the microphone membrane can easily follow.

The acoustic system can either be blown on in such a way that it already generates fundamental waves of the required frequency or in such a way that, in addition to fundamental waves of lower frequency, high-frequency harmonics arise, which in turn are only used in the sense of the invention B> In the latter case, the high tone is expediently separated from the lower by acoustic intermediate circuits, e.g. B. resonators', reflectors or the like surfaces, separately.

The term "microphone" is to be understood in the broadest sense, namely as a periodic or aperiodic vibratory Kiii, per, which can generate acoustic vibrations in electrical changes of state, e.g. B. original breaks, able to transform. Instead of a membrane in the usual sense, a tongue, e.g. B. a pipe tongue, which in turn either lies directly within the associated pipe, or is set in vibration by a separate pipe, possibly also a reed pipe.

When this microphone is switched on in a circuit, it breaks down the current into pulses of the number of acoustic vibrations that are pressed. According to the invention, these impulses are used to initiate an oscillating circuit coupled to the circuit mentioned, and in such a way that the latter oscillates either according to its coordination with the impulse frequency or with a multiple thereof. The first-mentioned current can ent neither be taken from a direct current source, in which case the oscillation circuit continuously generates undamped oscillations that are useful for telegraphy purposes.

Or the microphone is switched into a low-frequency speech circuit and breaks down the speech currents into impulses, which in turn stimulate the oscillation circuit to vibrate. In this case, damped oscillations arise, the initial amplitude values of which correspond to those of the low-frequency speech currents. The edge curve of the decaying amplitudes can be perceived as speech in the known manner in the listener at the receiving station.

Instead of a complete interruption at the point of contact between the microphone, Niembran and the microphone pen, a change in resistance at this point may be sufficient, or a capacitive, <B> d. </B> h. Changes in capacitance, or an inductive, <B> d. </B> li. Inductivity changes - microphone used.

In place of the plate microphone. For example, a flame microphone can be used that only generates changes in resistance. Such Flainmeiiinili: rophones can be used to good effect especially at high frequencies. With them the resistance between two contact pieces is changed by glowing gases, which are set into oscillation by the air waves.

Instead of the Galton whistle or tongue whistle, sirens mi are also used. With multiple traffic, these have the advantage that they are able to generate different frequencies at the same time using concentric perforations in a siren disc. It is then sufficient to assign a series of radially arranged microphones to each row of holes, of which each series is naturally arranged on a different radius according to the associated rows of the siren disc.

The drawing illustrates a FITS reliably working Ausführungsbei game of the invention. Fig. 1 is a front view of the active generator, Fig. 2 is a plan view, Fig. 3 is a section through the microphone and Fig. 4 is a circuit diagram for high-frequency telephony.

The microphone used as a vibrating body (Fig. 3) is distinguished from the previously known microphones in that it only reacts to high frequencies, on the other hand to low frequencies (less than 5000) or 4000) does not respond at all or only insignificantly. The membrane <B> 1 </B> of this microphone has a thickness of 5/100 to 1/100 mm and a diameter of 4 to 20 mm. The contact pin 2 of the microphone equipped with a tip or cap is firmly clamped, which means that the effect is limited to constant amplitudes of the air waves hitting the microphone.

Experimentally it has been shown that as long as no air waves impinge, the Mein bran <B> 1 </B> lies firmly against the contact pin, since a measurement then results in <B> 0 </B> ohms. If, on the other hand, waves strike, the membrane is lifted off the pin, probably to the point of complete interruption. Since in this case the microphone resistance fluctuates between <B> 0 </B> and back and forth several times within one second, the ohmmeter then experimentally shows an average value of <B> 80-300 </B> ohms.

A microplion designed in this way, when appropriately energized and switched, delivers completely flawless high frequency and perfectly clear speech when used for telephony.

In the latter case, where the microphone is used to break down the speech streams into impulses, its effect, particularly with regard to speech clarity, can be significantly increased by superimposing an additional direct current on the speech streams.

This additional DC current is for its part broken down into impulses by the microphone and therefore continuously triggers the oscillation circuit; it is therefore to be dimensioned in such a way that the undamped high-frequency oscillations generated by it in the oscillation circuit have amplitude values that are significantly smaller than the high-frequency amplitudes generated by speech in the oscillation circuit.

In order to prevent failure of the contact between the membrane and the pin due to the formation of oxide, dust and the like, a thick drop of oil can be placed on the tip or dome of the contact pin. Or, instead of the pen, a bracket made glowing by an auxiliary electrical current, the curvature of which touches the membrane, is arranged. For the same general purpose, an ionization of the contact space, e.g. B. by means of radium preparations, can be used as an aid.

For the adjustment, it is now desirable to make membrane 1 and contact pin 2 movable relative to one another. In the present case, since the contact pin is firmly clamped, this is done by moving the membrane.

For this purpose, the membrane carrier consisting of conductive parts <B> 3 </B> in the middle and an insulating body 4 in the middle and a metal part <B> 5 </B> at the rear is on the threaded contact pin 2 and can be rotated relative to the contact pin 2 with the aid of a worm <B> 6 </B> and a worm wheel <B> 7 </B> seated on the insulating part 4, so that the membrane <B > 1 </B> approaches or removes the tip of the contact pin. The current is supplied to the membrane by means of a sliding contact 8. The contact pin 2 is firmly clamped on the carrier 9, which diverts the current from the contact pin.

The sliding contact <B> 8 </B> leads to a plug contact <B> 11 </B> and the carrier <B> 9 </B> to a similar plug contact, which is covered by the former in the figure. The whole is enclosed in a housing 12 which carries a funnel 13 at the front.

FIGS. 1 and 2 now illustrate the connection of the microphone according to FIG. 3 with a Galton whistle. This is fed to the air flow through connection 14. The rotatable part <B> 15 </B> serves to change the width of the annular mouth lying between the mouthpiece <B> 16 </B> and your tube <B> 17 </B>. The mouthpiece <B> 16 </B> and the Tubu4 <B> 17 </B> are screwed into a bracket <B> 18 </B>. The drum <B> 19 </B> is used to adjust <B> the </B> tube length.

As can be seen from FIG. 2, the microphone casing 12 is now arranged parallel to the whistle in such a way that its funnel 13 lies directly opposite the mouth of the whistle, in such a way that the distance between the membrane and the whistle The central axis of the pipe is perpendicular to this variable.

For this purpose, the connectors for the plug-in contact pins of the microphone are arranged in two metal strips 21 and 22 separated by an insulating body 20, and the latter can be moved in the base plate 23 of the entire generator with the aid of the finger wheel 24 . The power connections are formed by clamping screws 2.5 and <B> 26 </B>.

Above the microphone strap <B> 13 </B> on the other side of the pipe mouth there is a plate-shaped or curved one, adapted to the spherical wave shape, e.g. B. Parabolic reflector <B> 27 </B> which uni the pin <B> 28 </B> is mounted such that it can swing in such a way that it can be pivoted in a plane parallel to the pipe axis. It is held in the horizontal position by an anchor pad 29 which lies against the arm 30 of the reflector 277.

The reflector <B> 27 </B> on the other hand can be displaced perpendicular to the axis of the pillar by moving it with the arm <B> 30 </B> through a <B> threaded </B> threaded spindle <B> 31 </ B > is connected.

The setting now takes place as follows: First, the calibrated tube length is set, then the microphone, with the reflector folded away, is brought closer to the whistle until the optimum volume is present according to the optimum acoustic coupling. The reffector <B> 27 </B> is then folded into the position shown in FIG. 2 and approached the pipe until the greatest clarity, <B> d. </B> h.

irn. In the case of telephony, the greatest amount of speech work is available. Jetvt is possibly readjusted somewhat at the pressure of the air flow supplied at 14 or at the mouth width. The reflector acts as an acoustic intermediate circuit.

The whistle can now be blown on from the outset in such a way that the air waves it generates have a frequency above 4000, or it can be blown with lower tones, whose harmonics, which are above the frequency of 4000, act on the 3 'likropbon membrane' B> 1 </B>.

4 now illustrates the use of this acoustic generator for telephony purposes, using an additional direct current which is advantageous for speech clarity, as mentioned above. The numbers <B> 10 </B> and <B> 11 </B> denote the plug contacts of the microphone. They lie in a circle to which the Sprecliströme from the never derfrequenten subscriber set through the transformer T on both sides of the K capaca sector are fed.

The battery Z supplies the mentioned additional Gleichstroni. The speech streams are broken down into pulses by the microphone and fed to the Schwingungskreis.se <B> S </B>, which in turn is coupled, for example, to a long-distance line Py. It is important that the oscillation circuit <B> <I> S </I> </B> is correctly coupled, for which an optimum exists. The coupling is set up for this purpose: at P variable.

Under certain circumstances it is advantageous that the low-frequency speech currents to be broken down into pulses by the microplion are amplified before they reach the microphone, the amplifier tube used for this being so small that it acts as a limiter tube. This is necessary to prevent overloading of the microphone contact. An iron series resistor could also be used instead of the limiter tube.

According to what has been said earlier, the battery Z can be omitted in FIG. On the other hand, an arrangement for telegraphing purposes is obtained immediately if the transformer, T and capacitor K are omitted and the battery Z is connected directly to the coil 9.

The fre quency supplied by the oscillating circuit can in turn be brought to any high amount by mao, - netic frequency converter before it bezw in the long-distance line. Antenna enters.

With direct current, the acoustic generator, as already mentioned, supplies undamped vibrations, which are suitable for telegraphing purposes, while with speech current, on the other hand, damped vibrations that are suitable for telephony To make vibrations that are inaudible in the detector circuit audible.

A suitable arrangement for this is obtained from FIG. 4 when the oscillation circuit 8 is coupled in a known manner to the antenna or the long-distance line and to a detector circuit at the same time. If the battery Z is retained, the generator continuously generates vibrations independently. However, the battery Z can also be omitted <B> - </B> then the vibrations arriving from the remote transmitting station (e.g. picked up by the antenna) supply the energy for operating the generator.
