Les dessins ci-joints donnent,à titre d'exemple, une des formes de réalisation de la présente invention. La fig. 1 représente deux ligues téléphoniques et un mécanisme de commutation primaire, avec un circuit commutateur principal pour diriger les con nexions;
Lors de la désexcitation du relais219, le circuit du relais218 est ouvert, et après un intervalle de temps approprié, ce relais aban donne, ses armatures, et un circuit estétabli, à partir de la batterie,à travers la résistance 228, Periroulement de l'électro-aimant213, l'ai-mature de gauche et le contact avant du relais217, le contact arrière et l'ai-mature du relais218, à la terre sur le conducteur -109;
Installation for telephone central office with automatic switching. The invention relates to to an installation for an automatic telephone exchange to in which a series of equivalent junction leagues are divided into groups.
According to this invention, automatic switching means are provided for establishing connections with these jonctibn lines, which are distributed arbitrarily between these various groups which can therefore be easily modified, an arrangement of of switch-on wires, particular to each group of junction leagues, causing these switching means to function.
The accompanying drawings give, to by way of example, one embodiment of the present invention. Fig. 1 represents two telephone leagues and a primary switching mechanism, with a main switching circuit to direct the connections;
fig. 2 shows a ' secondary switch mechanism, by means of which trunk lines coming from the primary switch mechanism can be connected to outgoing or incoming trunk lines . This figure also shows a primary switching mechanism for directing connections to through this secondary switching mechanism. A The right of this figure is shown a trunk line selector d arrival, with a ringing mechanism for activating the ringing of the called subscriber; fig. 3 represents a sending selector with the main switch needed to direct a connection.
A the left of this figure is represented Him trunk line selector to extend a circuit to from a starting trunk line, coming from the secondary switch mechanism < B> of fig. 2, to the incoming junction line selector in fig. 2.
The part of fig. 4, located to left of the dashed line, represents the mile selector recorder with a main switch to direct the connection to through the league selector of junction - in fig. 5, as well as the part of fig. 4 located to the right of the dashed line, represents a sender to control the mile recorder and the line recorder,
the line recorder being represented to in fig. 6 with a main switch to direct the connection to through it.
In the installation shown, the connecting leagues are arranged in a certain particular way. By using mechanisms of the general type of to crossbar switches, it becomes possible (to remove the grouping of trunk lines in a determined order, since no search for trunk lines n Therefore, the joining lines can be grouped together or they can be separated and distributed in any convenient way. A small or small group of equivalent joining leagues be placed in the vicinity of another group.
As a result, when the traffic conditions in a certain group of trunk lines become abnormal, a larger number of trunk lines can be added to the group without having to arrange à new Fin8tallation.
In general, the operation of the installation is as follows : A subscriber, by initiating a call, causes the operation of a series of relays and co-switch mechanisms to </ B> transverse bars, which extend the calling line to through the primary and secondary switching mechanisms of fig. 1 and 2 up to a starting junction line to in fig. 3, and from there, to through the selector sending from the right of fig. Ô, to a free sender.
The subscriber, by operating his disc, sets the position of the sender chosen in fig. 5, according to the number of the requested line, after which the mile recorder of fig. 4 produces the selection of a junction line to through the thousand selector shown to to the left of fig. 3. The line recorder is also set in motion according to the position occupied by the sender, after which the called line is tried, and if found free,
a series of relays and to crossbar mechanisms are put into operation to extend the line called to through the primary or secondary switching devices to a junction line of 'arrival, and from there, to through the arrival junction line selector, to the of junction line chosen by the record tror of a thousand. As soon as these connections have been terminated, the eiireoisti-etii, des mille and the line recorder are returned to their normal position, the sender is disconnected from the calling line and is returned to his normal position.
The ringing of the called subscriber rings and when the called subscriber has answered, the conversation circuit is closed, through a repeater coil, shown at the central part of the fig. to.
It y should be specially noted the arrangement of the junction lines in the thousand selector to the left of fig. 3, this arrangement making it possible to realize that in the installation described it is possible to repair the junction lines in any way. The junction lines connected to the switch bars 341 and 349 belong to the same group, while the switch bar 348, interposed between the switch bars 341 and 349, corresponds to a junction line of another group.
If the mile recorder searches for a junction going in the direction taken by the trunk line connected to the bus bar 341, and if that particular trunk line is busy, then instead that a circuit is established to through the armature and the rear contact. said relay 339 to the electromagnet 340, this circuit is extended to through the armature and the front contact of the relay 339, to l armature and the rear contact of relay 347, and to the corresponding electromagnet to switch bar 349.
It can therefore be seen that this connection is made by leaving aside relay 346. In this way, the equivalent junction leagues of the same group can be distributed in any way, and since there is no search for lines. junction, this arbitrary distribution can be applied to any Mo- , to as large a number or to as small a number of leagues in the group as you want, depending on the changes required by traffic conditions.
It should be noted that although the installation shown has considered the case of a single office in which the subscribers are designated by four-digit numbers, the arrangement described is not is not limited to this case, but small to apply to a larger installation or to multiple desktops.
The switching means employed are referred to as crossbar switches and may be of the type described and shown in United States Patent No. 1,238,194 of August 28. 1917.
The establishment of a connection from a substation 100 to a substation 101, is carried out in the following manner. When the subscriber to substation 100 removes his receiver from either hook-switch, a circuit is established, to </ B> from the ground, to tra towards the right inner frame and the rear contact. from the electromagnet 102, to through the loop tic the substation 100, the rear contact and the outer left armature of the electromagnet 102 , the right winding of line relay 104 to the battery.
Relay 104 energizes and establishes a connection, to from of the battery, to through the winding of </ B > right to low resistance of the electromagnet 102, the left winding to low resistance of the relay of line 104, the contact front and left inner armature of line relay 104, rear contact and left inner armature of relay 10â, the rear contact and Farmature of relay 106, the left armature and the rear contact of the relay 107, the winding of the relay 108, the driver 109, the rear contact and the right inner armature of the relay 111, the bearing of the warning relay 112, to the Earth.
The relays 108 and 112 are then energized in this circuit, but as a result of the resistance of the relay 108, the electromagnet 102 n I'm not excited at this time. The relay 108 establishes a circuit to from the battery, the left & winding of the relay 107, the contact and ar mature of relay 108, the rear contact and the armature of the relay 123, the rear contact and the left armature of the relay 110, the outer right armature and the rear contact of the relay 115, the conductor 109 to the earth to through winding of relay 112.
The relay 107, by attracting its armatures, produces the de-energization of the relay 108 and stops the flow of current to through the right winding of electromagnet 102. A circuit is thus established to from the battery, the right bearing of the relay 107, the front contact and the right side of the relay 107, the rear contact and the right armature of relay 114, the winding of the relay 110, outer right hand side and the rear contact of the relay < B> 115, conductor 109, and from there to earth to through the winding of relay 112.
Relay 110 is then energized in this circuit and keeps relay 107 energized, through through its right winding , while opening the relay circuit 107 to through its left winding. The relay 110, by attracting its armatures, extends the connection to the earth on the conductor 109, through the rear contact and the outer right armature of the relay 115, the left armature and the front contact of the relay 110, the armature and the rear contact of the 'electromagnet 113, the right armature and the rear contact of the relay 117, the winding of the relay 119 to slow tripping , to the bat terie.
the relay 119 is energized, and to through its armature, connects the earth on the conductor 109 to the coil of the relay 118, which to in turn connects the earth on the conductor 109 to the winding of the relay 117. The relay 117 attracts its armatures and snaps onto the to earth connection on its right armature, as described previously. The raising of its armature opens the circuit of relay 119, and this relay de-energizes after a period of time determined by its setting.
In the meantime, the relay 110, through its right armature, connects the earth on the conductor 109 to the left armature of the relay 115, to through the rear contact of this one and from there to through the coil of the relay 1.16 to slow tripping, to the battery. Relay 116 energizes and, attracting its armatures, establishes a circuit, to from earth on conductor 109, through the left contact and rear of relay 116, the brush 124 and its first contact, Parinàture and the rear contact of relay 121, the winding of relay 120 to </ B> the battery and earth.
The relay 120 controls the switch bar 122 of the trunk lines, of so that this bar 122 is actuated at this moment. The control solenoid 120 of the switch bar 122 is then engaged in a circuit, to from the battery to through the joint of the electromagnet. 120, the left inner frame and the front contact of.
the electromagnet 120, the left winding to high resistance of the relay 115, the outer right armature and the rear contact of the relay 111 , the front and right contact of relay 110, to earth on conductor 109. However, as long as relay 121 remains de-energized, the relay 115 is not energized, since it has the same potential connection to earth on each side of its left winding.
The excitation of the electromagnet 120 wedging the switch bar of the junction lines closes a circuit .. to from the earth, to through the armature outside right and the contact of relay 125, the outside armature on the left and the front contact of I * electromagnet 120, the conductor 126 of the line of junction 200, the from left to high resigtance winding of relay 204, to the battery.
Relay 204, on energizing, establishes a circuit, to from the battery, to through the right winding to low resistance of the electromagnet 202, the right winding at low resistance of relay 204, the front contact and the right inner parinature of relay 204, the rear contact and the armature of the relay 206, the left hand switch and the rear contact of the relay 207, the winding of the relay '208, the conductor 209, the rear contact and the right inner armature of relay 211, the winding of the warning relay 212, to earth, The relays 208 and 212 are excited in this circuit,
but the electromagnet 202 is not sufficiently excited in this circuit to attract its armatures. The energization of the relay 208 establishes a circuit to from the battery, to through the left bearing of the relay 207, the front contact and set of relay 208, the rear and mature contact of relay 223, the rear contact and armature of left of relay 210, the inner left armature and rear contact of relay 215, to earth on the 209, energized from </ B> current to through the winding of relay 212.
Relay 207 opens the excitation circuit of relay 208 and stops the flow of current, to through the 'in right-hand bearing of the electro-controlling 202 and also produces the excitation of relay M0. This relay 210 makes a circuit, to from earth on conductor 209, through the rear contact and the left inner armature of relay 21.5, the armature left and the front contact of relay 210, the armature and the rear contact of the electromagnet 213, the left armature and the rear contact of the relay 217, the winding of the relay 219, to the battery and to the earth.
The relay 219 connects the earth on the conductor 209, to I winding the relay 218, which to </ B > its turn connects the earth on conductor 209 to the coil of relay 217. The relay 217 s 'engages to the earth on its right armature and opens the excitation circuit of the relay to slow tripping, 219 which leaves its armature after a time interval determined by its setting.
In the meantime, ur) circuit is closed to from earth on conductor 209, through through the front contact and the right side of relay 210, the outer armature of left and the rear contact of the relay 215, the winding of the relay 216 to the battery and to the earth . The relay 216 establishes a circuit to from earth on the conductor 209, to through the front contact and the right armature of the relay 216, the right armature and the rear contact of the relay 241, the switch brush 2124, the outer left armature and the rear contact of the relay 221, the winding of the electromagnet 2-20, to the battery and to earth.
This electromagnet 220 controls the switch bar 222 of the junction lines, so that this switch bar is actuated at this moment. The electromagnet 220, when energized, establishes a circuit, to from the battery to through the winding of the electromagnet 220, the armature inner left and the front contact of the electromagnet 220, the left to high resistance winding of the relay 215, the outer left armature and the contact rear of relay 211, the right armature and the front contact of relay 210, to earth on conductor 209. The relay 215 is however not excited at this moment, since the same potential at the earth of the conductor 209 is connected,
to both sides of this winding.
Electro.-aimatit 220, screaming excited, connects earth, to starting from its left outer armature, to conductor 226 of junction line 300, which is then extended to through the right winding of relay 304 to. the battery and to the earth.
Relay 304, attracting its armature, establishes a circuit, to from the battery, the right winding to low resistance of the electromagnet 302, the left to low resistance winding of relay 304, the rear contact and the left inner armature of the relay 305, the contact rear and the armature of the relay 306, the right-hand ai-mature and the rear contact of the relay 307, Winding of the relay 308, the conductor 309, the winding of the relay 312, to earth.
Relays 308 and 312 energize in this circuit, but due to the resistance of relay 308, current flowing through the right winding of relay 302 is insufficient to produce the excitation of the electromagnet 802. The relay 808, in s' energizing, make a circuit to from the batteries to through the right winding of the relay 307, the front contact and the armature of relay 308, the rear contact and the armature of relay 323, the rear contact and the right armature of relay 310, the outer left armature and the rear contact of relay 315, to earth on conductor 309,
supplied with current through the winding of the relay 312. The relay 307 is energized in this circuit and, attracting its armatures, opens the circuit for relay 308 and stops the flow of current to through the right winding of the electromagnet 302. Relay 307, while energizing, sets Lin cut-in for itself to from battery, through through the left bearing of relay 307, the front contact and the left armature of the relay 307, the rear contact and the armature of left of relay 314, the winding of relay 310, the outer left hand rear and rear contact of relay 315,
to earth on conductor 309. Relay 310 attracts its armor, thus opening the initial excitation circuit of relay 307 . The relay 310 connects the earth on the conductor 309, to through the rear contact and the outside of left side of the relay 315 , the right armature and the front contact of the relay 310, the mature and the rear contact of the electromagnet 313, </ B> Parmature and rear contact of relay 317, the winding of the relay to slow tripping ,, 319 to </ B > the battery and to earth.
The relay 319 energizes and connects the earth on the conductor 809 to the winding of the relay 317, which then engages to earth on its right armature and opens the excitation circuit for relay 319. Relay 319 de-energizes and abandons its armature afterwards a time interval determined by its setting.
In the meantime, a circuit is established to by grounding on conductor 309, to Par- mature on the left and to the front contact of relay 310, to through the right armature and the rear contact of relay 315, the winding of relay 316, to the battery. The relay 316 energizes and extends a connection to earth on conductor 309, to through the armature of </ B> left and the front contact of relay 316, the brush 324, the left armature and the rear contact of the relay 321, the winding of the electro- magnet 320, to the battery and to the earth.
The electromagnet 320 establishes an interlocking circuit, to from the battery, to through the winding of the electro- magnet 320, the left inner armature and the front contact of the electromagnet 320, the right winding to high resistance of the relay 315, the front contact and the left armature of the relay 310, to earth on the conductor 309. The relay 315 has the same potential to earth to from the conductor 309 connected to both sides of the winding, presumably not don't excite at this moment.
The electromagnet 320 controls the switching bar 322 of the junction lines, so that it is actuated at this moment . The excitation of the electromagnet 320 also connects the earth to the outer left-hand side of the electromagnet 320, </ B> and from there, through through the coil of relay 39-1, to the battery. The relay 321, when energizing, opens the initial excitation circuit of the electromagnet 320, of itself as the relay 315 is no longer bypassed and therefore gets excited.
A circuit is then established to from the battery, to through the right winding to low resistance of the electromagnet 302, the left to low resistance winding of relay 304, the front contact and the left inner armature of relay 304, the rear contact and the left inner armature of the relay 305, the rear contact and the armature of the relay 306, the armature and the front contact of the relay 807, the left winding to low resistance of relay 315, Left inner part and contact of relay 315, the contact.
front and left part of relay 316, (which, being of a slow - trigger, does not drop its armatures until a moment after the relay 315 is excited) to through the conductor 309, and from there to through the winding of the relay 312. The electromagnet 302 is energized in this circuit, after which the conductors in group 327 are connected to the corresponding conductors in group â22.
A circuit is then established to from the battery, to through resistor 328, the winding of the electromagnet 313, the armature on the left and the front contact of the relay 317, and the armature of the relay 319 on the earth on conductor Ô09, as soon as relay 319 is de-energized. The electromagnet 313 moves the brush 324 forward one step to its next contact and thus varies the order of preference for the operation of the switch bars of the junction lines.
The operation of the electromagnet 313 opens the circuit for engaging the relay 317, so that the latter is de-energized.
The electromagnet 302, attracting its mature arrays, extends its connections to earth, to through the left inner nature and the front contact of the electromagnet. 302, the front contact and the left outer armature of relay 304, the winding of relay 306, to the battery and to earth.
The relay 306, by attracting its armature opens the excitation circuit of relays 315 and 312, so that these relays de-energize. Relays 310 and 316 were de-energized when energizing relay 315, and tripping the left armature of the relay 310 opens the excitation circuit of relay 307, so that the group relays de-energize when the electromagnet is energized 302 </ B > controlling the switching bar of the junction lines and during the forward movement of the switch brush 324.
The electromagnet 320, controlling the switching bar, mmultatioil (the junction lines then de-energize, but the electromagnet 302, controlling the switching bar of the lines, maintains the connection between switch bars. De-energization of the electromagnet 320 opens the circuit of relay 321, but this relay, being to slow tripping, n do not immediately give up his armor.
In the meantime, a circuit is established to from earth, to through the front contact and the left outer frame of relay 321, < / B> the conductor 402, the right armature and the rear contact of the relay 600, the conductor 403, the corresponding contacts of the switch bars to the conductor 329, and of there in parallel to through the winding of the relay 330 and the two windings in series of the electromagnet 302. < / B> The relay 830 disconnects the repeater coil 344 of the trunk line from the secondary line switch, as well as the trunk line going to the thousand selector, so to </ B> leave free a pair of conductors going to the sender.
A circuit is then established to from the earth, to through the outer left armature and the front contact of the electromagnet 302, </ B> the winding of relay 331, to the battery. The relay 331 attracts its armature and extends a connection, to from earth, to through the front contact and the armature of the relay < B> 831, to through conductor 332, the bearing of relay 221, to the battery and to earth .
Relay 221 attracts its armatures and, by opening the initial drive circuit of electromagnet 220, removes the short circuit around the high resistance to winding of relay 215 , which then gets excited. A circuit is then established, to from the battery, to through the right winding to low, resistance of the electro - magnet 202, the right to low resistance winding of line relay 204, the front contact and the right inner armature of relay 204, the rear contact and the armature of the relay 206, the armature on the left and the front contact of the relay 207, the right winding to low resistance of relay 215,
the front contact and the right armature of the relay 215, the right armature and the front contact of the relay 216, to </ B> the earth on the conductor 209, supplied with current to through the winding of the relay 212. The electromagnet 202, serving to control the leagues switch bar, then gets energized in this circuit and actuates the row switch bar, so that the contacts of the two actuated switch bars engage.
A circuit is extended, to from the earth, to through the left inner frame and the front contact of relay 221, to </ B > through the corresponding contacts of the switch bars, to conductor 227, the left winding of relay 121, to the battery and to Earth. The relay 121, by opening the initial excitation circuit of the electromagnet 120, removes a short circuit around the high resistance to bearing of the relaW 115, so that the latter gets excited.
A circuit is then established to the battery, to through the right winding to low resistance of the 'electromagnet 102 controlling the line switching bar, the left to low resistance winding of the line relay 104, the front contact and the left inner armature of the relay, 104, the rear contact and the inside left armature of the relay 105, the rear contact and the right armature of the relay 106, the armature of </ B> left and front contact of relay 107, the right winding at low resistance of relay 115, the mature ar < B> from the right and the front contact of relay 115,
Left part and front contact of relay 116, to earth on conductor 109, supplied with current to through the winding of the relay 112. The electromagnet 102, controlling the switch bar of the lines, is energized in this circuit and brings its contacts into engagement with the corresponding contacts of the switch bar of the junction lines 222, so that the The subscriber's circuit is then extended to through the contacts of the primary line switch, the contacts of the secondary line switch, and the contacts of the sending selector switch, to through the rear contacts and the left armatures of relay 404, to the windings of relay 405,
thus producing the excitation of this last relay. This energization of this relay 405 results in the energization of the relay to slow tripping 400, and this one, to in turn, places a ground on the conductor 401, so to keep relay 321 energized.
When energizing the electromagnet 202, controlling the line switch bar, a circuit is established to from earth to through the front contact and the ar mature of the electromagnet 202, the outer right armature and the front contact of the relay 204, the winding of the relay 206, so that the initial circuit for energizing the electromagnet 202 is open; the electromagnet 202 is kept excited to through earth on the conductor 227, extending in series through its two windings.
The earth on the conductor 227 is also extended to through the corresponding contacts of the switching bars of the lines and of the junction lines, the contauts of the primary line switch, of so as to keep the magnet 102, controlling the leagues switch bar, excited to through its two windings in series.
When de-energizing relay 219, the circuit of relay 218 is open, and after an appropriate time interval, this relay gives up, its armatures, and a circuit is established. , to from the battery, to through resistance 228, Winding of the electromagnet 213, the left-hand ai-mature and the front contact of relay 217, the rear and ai-mature contact of relay 218, to earth on the conductor -109;
the electromagnet 213 not advance at the brushes 224 and 229 of the switch, thus changing the order preferably for the switching bars of the input play lines and of outgoing lines of the secondary line switch.
The operation of this electromagnet also opens the holding circuit for relay 217, which then de-energizes and in in turn opens the excitation circuit of 1 * 61 electromagnet 213, of course that at this moment all the control relays of the secondary leagues switch de-energize, with the exception of relay 206. </ B > This relay is de-energized as soon as relay 204 attracts its armatures.
In a similar manner, the brush 124 advances to its second contact so as to vary the order of preference of the primary line switch and the control relays of this switch. switch de-energize at this time.
The connection is then in a stable state, waiting for the reception of pulses for the selection of the called substation.
It will be assumed that the number of line ti going to substation 100 is 5555 and that < B> the line number from to the 101 substation is 5554. The subscriber to the substation 100 operates its switch disk to send five pulses, which are in the nature of five short interruptions of the line circuit. This results in relay 405 abandoning its frame, five times in rapid succession.
When the armature is first abandoned, a circuit is established to from the earth, to through the armature and the rear contact of relay 405, the rear contact and the right outer armature of relay 404, the front contact and the right armature of relay 400, the left outer armature and rear contact of relay 406, conductor 407, the brush 501 and its first contact, the winding of the electromagnet 502, the conductor 503, the winding of the relay < B> at slow firing 504, at battery and at earth. The electromagnet 502 and the relay 504 are then energized in this circuit.
Relay 504 then establishes a connection, to from earth, to through the nature and contact of relay 504, the coil of the electromagnet 505, the winding of the relay 506, to the battery and to the earth. During the attraction, by the relay 405 -of its armature, the electromagnet 502 moves the switch arms that it controls (represented along a vertical line below this electromagnet) on their first contacts. The relay 504 being of a slow release, is not influenced by this short interruption in its circuit.
Five of these pulses result in switching arm 507 to its fifth contact, thereby establishing the connection to conductor 508. Relay 405 then maintains its armatures attracted. for a relatively long period of time before the reception of the new series of pulses, under the action of which the relay 504 abandons its armature, thus opening the circuit of the electro-ai denying 505 </ B > and relay 506. The electromagnet 505 being de-energized, brings on their second contacts the arms of switches which it coni- command, so that the circuit passing to tra towards the brush 501 then leads to the electromagnet 509. </ B >
A circuit is then established to starting from earth, to through the right armature and the contact of relay 321, < / B> conductor 408, conductor 409, brush 510 and its first contact, conductor 511, winding from relay 410, to battery and to earth, which results in the energization of this latter relay. This < / B> relay 410 engages in a circuit, to from the earth, to through the right armature and the rear contact of relay 411, outer right armature and rear contact of relay 412, left armature of relay 410, to the battery and to earth . Relay 410, à in turn, places an earth on the coil of relay 413, à through its right armature.
Relay 413 attracts its matures and establishes a circuit to from earth, to through the right armature and the rear contact of relay 411, I armature right and the rear contact of relay 414, the brush 415 and its first contact, the left armature of relay 413 and its front contact, the right armature of relay 416 to the battery . Relay 416 energizes and establishes a circuit, to from the battery, the coil of the electromagnet 417, the left coil of the relay 416, the front contact and the left armature of relay 416, the first contact and brush 418, the winding of the relay to slow tripping 414, the rear contact and the right armature of the relay 411 to the earth.
Relay 414, cry attracting its armature, opens the initial drive circuit to through the right winding of relay 416 and connects the earth on its right armature, to through the right armature of relay 416, the brush 419 and its first contact, the outer right armature and the front contact of relay 410, the winding of relay 412, the winding of the electromagnet 420 to the battery, so that the relay 412 is energized in series with the electromagnet 420. A circuit is thus established to from earth, to through the right armature and the rear contact of relay 411, the left armature and the front contact of relay 414, the right armature and the rear contact of relay 421, relay 422, to the battery.
Relay 422 is then energized and establishes a circuit to from earth, to through the frame and the front contact of relay 422, the left middle frame and the relay contact. 412, the conductor 423, to through the corresponding contacts of the sending selector switch, the conductor 333, the right ar mature and the rear contact of the relay 334, the winding of the electromagnet 335, to the battery and to the earth. The electromagnet 335 activates the switching bar 336 of the junction lines.
The operation of the electromagnet 335 closes a circuit, from from the earth, to through the winding of the relay 337, the outer left armature and the front contact of the electromagnet 335, the driver 338, the winding of relay 421 , to the battery and to the earth.
Operation of relay 421 establishes a circuit, to from earth, to through the left inner armature of relay 421, to </ B> through the outer left armature and the front contact of relay 412, the brush 507, the conductor 508, the outer left armature and the front contact of the relay 337, the right-hand ai-mature and the rear contact of relay 339, the right-hand winding of the electromagnet 340 to the battery, after which the electromagnet 340 energizes and brings the contacts of the switch bar 341 into engagement with the corresponding contacts of the switch bar of the junction lines,
336.
-A circuit is then established to starting from the earth, to through the right armature and the front contact of relay 221, the conductor 230, the corresponding contacts of the switch bars 336 and 341, the front contact and the left armature of the electromagnet 340, the left winding of the electromagnet 340, The winding of the relay 339, the right winding of the electromagnet 340, to the battery, so that when the earth on the conductor 508 is removed, the electromagnet 340 will remain energized through through its two windings in series, and the relay 339 will be energized .
Excitation of relay 421 opens the circuit of relay 422, which is de-energized after a small time interval (determined by its setting), and thus removes the earth on conductor 423 and opens the initial circuit of the electromagnet < B> 335 controlling the switching bars of the junction lines. Another sounding circuit is established before relay 4221 drops out of its mature state, to from earth, to through the left outer frame, and the contact. front of relay 421, the normal contacts of the left armature of relay 411, and there to through the previously described circuit, and this circuit remains established until relays 411 and 334 are excited, as will be explained below.
When energizing relay 337, a circuit is established to from the battery, to through the winding of relay 334, the . front contact of the electromagnet 335, the front contact and the right armature of relay 337, the right armature and the left winding of relay 424 in series, the rear contact and the armature of relay 422 to earth. Relay 424 draws its armatures and establishes a circuit, to left, from earth, to through the left outer armature of relay 424, the left inner armature of relay 412, the winding of relay 512, to the battery and to earth.
The 512 relay engages, to through its rear contact and its right armature, and the rear contact and the left armature from relay 500, to earth on conductor 408. Relay 424 also establishes a circuit, to from earth, to through the the left inner armature and the front contact of relay 424, the winding of relay 411, to the battery and to earth. Relay 411 engages in a circuit, starting from earth, to through the left outer edge and the front contact of relay 421, the left inner edge and the front contact of relay 411, to the battery and to the earth.
By its armature, outer right, the relay 411 short-circuits the left winding to high resistance of relay 424, so that relay 334 is then energized. This relay 334 engages, to through the front contact and its left armature, to the earth on the conductor 230 and, through the 'intermediary of its right armature, opens the circuit of the electromagnet 335. This electromagnet de-energizes, and abandoning its armatures, opens the circuit of relay 424, which then de-energizes.
The movement, by the relay 411, of either right armature opens the circuit of the relay 414 and of the electromagnets 417 and 420, so that the brushes 418 and 415, controlled by the electromagnet 417, come in their seconds positions and that the brush 419, controlled by the electromagnet 420, comes into its second position. Relay 416, hitherto kept energized in series with relay 417, de-energizes. Relay 412, held in series with electromagnet 420, also de-energizes, after which de-energization of electromagnet 335 results in de-energization of relay 421, which, on its return, allows relay 411 to return to its normal position.
In this way, the relays of the main conDector switch are returned to their normal position.
All the actions described above take place in an extremely short time interval, so that the connection of the switch bars 341 and 336 is generally accepted, but not correct. - surely, before Fabonué at station 100 sends its second series of impulses, you mean to be hard.
It is to be noted at this point that if there are no junction leagues available leading to the fifth group of thousand lines, then a circuit will be established at </ B> from earth., to through the left inner trim and the front contact of relay 421, the outer right armature and the contact of relay 412, the brush 507 </ B> and its fifth contact, the conductor 508, the outermost armature on the left and the contact of the relay 337, the mature and the front contact of the relay < B> 339,
and from there in series to through the armatures and the front contacts of all the other relays corresponding to relay 339 in the group of trunk lines going into the desired direction, the conductor 342, the inner right armature and the front contact of the relay 412, the direction of the relay 406, to the battery. Relay 406 will be energized in this circuit and will close an interlock circuit to from ' of the battery, to </ B> through the winding of relay 406, the front contact and the right armature of relay 406, conductor 409, conductor 408,
the front contact and the right frame of relay 3221, to earth. By its outer left armature, relay 406 opens the circuit & pulses going to the voyeur, and by its inner left armature, it connects an indicating device to 'occupancy, to through capacitor 425, to one of the windings of relay 405, from where occupancy indicator noises are inductively transmitted to subscriber telephone set at substation 100.
If the subscriber hangs up his receiver, relay 405 will be energized, resulting in de-energization of restraint relay 400, after which the relay 321 circuit will be opened and earth will be removed. on conductors 408 and 402. Then the electromagnet 302 will be de-energized and in its turn will produce the de-energization of relay 331, of relay 321, of relay 121 and of the electromagnets 202. and 102, and the connection will return to its normal state.
If it is assumed that a free trunk line is chosen, as described first, the subscriber then sends a series of five pulses corresponding to the number of hundreds of the called line. As a result, the brushes, under the control of the electromagnet 509, come-. place themselves on their fifth contacts.
In a similar way. the brushes controlled by the electromagnets 513 and 514 are brought into place on their fifth and fourth contacts, respectively. A the end of the last series of pulses ,,, the 510 brush comes to rest on its fourth contact, after which a circuit is established to from earth, to through the 'ar mature on the right and the contact of the relay 321, the conductor 408, the conductor 409, the brush 510, </ B> its fourth contact, the front and right exterior contact of relay 512, the brush 515 and its fifth contact, the conductor 516, </ B > the winding of the relay 600, to the battery.
The 600 relay attracts its armatures and establishes a circuit to, from the earth, to through - the inner left armature and the front contact of relay 600, the winding of relay 601 to the battery. The 601 relay energizes in its turn and establishes a circuit to from of earth, " through through the outer left armature and the rear contact of relay 602, the right armature and the rear contact of relay 603, the brush 604 and its first contact, the armature and the front contact of relay 601, the right winding and the front contact of relay 605, to the battery.
The 605 relay energizes and thus establishes an interlocking circuit for itself, to from the battery, to through the winding of relay 606, the left winding of relay 605, the front contact and the left armature of relay 605, the first mier contact and brush 607, the winding of relay 603, the rear contact and the external left armor of relay 602, to </ B > the earth.
A circuit is then established, to starting from the earth, to through the left armature and the contact front of relay 603, the right shift winding of relay 602, to the battery, and in parallel with this circuit, another circuit to < / B> through the battery, the rear contact of relay 608, the winding of relay 609, to the battery.
The 602 relay attracts its armor and establishes a circuit, to from the earth, to through the outer left armature of the relay 602, the right armature and the front contact of relay 605, the brush 610 and its first contact, the outer left armature and the front contact of the relay 600, the winding of the relay 611, the winding of the electromagnet i) t 612, to the battery. The relay 61 L and the electromagnet 612 are then energized.
When energizing relay 611, an interlocking circuit is closed to from earth, to through the outer armature of left and the front contact of the relay 602, Left part and the front contact of the relay 611, the winding of the relay 611, </ B > the rolling of the electromagnet 612, at the battery.
Movement of the left outer armature of relay 602 opens the initial energizing circuit of relay 603, but a closing circuit is established, to other from earth, to through the left armature and the forward contact of relay 603, the armature. left and the rear contact of relay 617, the front contact and the right armature of relay 603, </ B > the winding of the relay 603, the brush 607 and its first contact, the left ar mature, and the front contact of the relay 605, </ B> the left winding of the relay (30.5, the winding of the electromagnet 606, at the battery.
-A circuit is then established to from the earth, to through the left armature and the front contact of the relay 603, the left armature and the rear contact of relay 6lâ, the right armature and the front contact of relay 602, the outer left armature and the rear contact of relay 614, the winding from relay 615, to the battery.
The relay 611 establishes a uni circuit, to from the earth, to through the front contact and the outer right armature of the relay 611, ] * winding of the electromagnet 517, at the battery. This 517 electromagnet controls a large number of contacts, which are interconnected when this electromagnet is energized.
If the main switch of the primary league continuers is busy at this moment, relay 112 will be energized and the connection will remain in the condition described above and there will be no further action.
81, otherwise, the main switch of the primary line switches is free and if this connection can be continued, a circuit is established to from the battery, to through the winding of relay 111, the rear contact and the right armature of the warning relay of relay 112, the conductor 127, the front contact and the - left inner frame of relay 602, rear contact and left frame of relay 617, front contact and left armature of relay 603, to earth.
Relay 111 is energized in this circuit and establishes a circuit for relay 125, to from earth, to through the front contact and the left outer armature of relay 111, wind it of relay 125, to the battery.
By either inner left armature, relay 111 is engaged to earth on conductor 127. When the relay <B is energized > 125, a circuit is established to from earth, to through the front contact and the outer left armature of the relay 125 , the winding of relay 614, to the battery. Relay 614 establishes a circuit to from the battery to through the winding of the relay 518, the conductor 519, to through the contacts controlled by the electro-ai denying 517, the conductor 520, the inner left armature and the front contact of relay 614 ,
the rear contact and the left armature of the relay 618, to earth, so that the relay 518 </ B> is excited.
A circuit is then established to from 4. re L.ei -, through through the winding of the alarm relay 112, J 'ai-mature interior on the right and the front contact of relay 111, the brush 124 and either second contact, the ai-mature on the left and the rear contact of relay 128, </ B> the winding of the electromagnet 129 controlling a switch bar of lines of junction, to the battery. The electromagnet 129 controls the switch bar 130 of the junction leagues, so that this bar is actuated at this moment.
The control of the electromagnet 129 also results in the establishment of a circuit to from earth, to through the contact. front and right inner armature of relay 125, left middle armature and front contact of electromagnet 1-09, the conductor < B> 131, the left armature and the rear contact of relay 212, the winding of relay 211, to battery.
Relay 2 It engages, to through either the front contact and the left inner armature, to the earth on the conductor 131 and establishes an excitation circuit for relay 241, to from earth, to through the front contact and the outer right armature of the relay 211, the winding of relay 241, to the battery.
A circuit is then established to from earth, to through the winding of relay 212, the inner right armature and the front contact of relay 211, the right armature and the front contact of relay 241, the brush 229 and its second contact, the armature and the rear contact of the relay 233, the winding of the electromagnet 234, to, the battery, The electromagnet 234 controls the switch bar 235 connecting lines, so that this bar is actuated at this moment.
A circuit is then closed to from earth, to through the right armature and the front contact of relay 614, the conductor < B> 619, the outer left-hand wing and the front contact of the electromagnet 234, the winding of the electromagnet 236, at the The electromagnet 236 controls the switch bar 237 of the junction line finder, so that this switch bar is actuated to this moment.
Excitation of the 518 relay establishes several circuits, as follows: to from earth, to through the outer right armature and the front contact of the relay 518, the brush 521 and its fifth position contact, the driver 522, through the COIT6Spondants contacts controlled by the electro-energizing 517, to the conductor 523, the winding of the relay 620, to the battery. The relay 620 then energizes in this circuit.
The relay 518 also establishes a circuit to from earth, to through the right inner armor and the forward contact of the relay < B> 518, the brush .524 and its fifth position contact, the conductor 525, the corresponding contacts controlled by the electro-magnet 517, to the driver 526, the external left armor and the front contact of relay 620, the winding of relay 621 to the battery, so that the 621 relay is energized.
A third circuit is then established, to from the earth, to through the left inner armature and the front contact of the relay 518, the brush 527 and its fifth contact, the driver 528, the brush 529 and its fourth contact, the driver 530, to < / B> through the corresponding contacts commanded by the electromagnet 517, to the conductor 531, the external left-hand driver and the front contact of the relay 621, winding relay 622, to the battery, so that relay 622 is energized. Another circuit is established, through through the, in, bearings of the electromagnet 103 , the conductor 132, the inner right armature and the front contact of the relay 622,
the conductor 532, to through the corresponding contacts controlled by the electromagnet 517, to the conductor 533, the fourth contact and brush 534, the front contact and the outer left armature of the relay 518, the conductor 535, the corresponding contacts controlled by the electromagnet 517 to conductor 536, to the left armature of relay 615. These circuits are established when energizing relay 614 and at this moment, the excitation circuit of relay 615 is open, but this relay being slow to to trip, it maintains its armatures attracted for a certain period of time.
During this interval of time, therefore, the circuit mentioned above, going to the left armature of the relay 615, </ B > is connected to the front contact, and from there to the winding of the relay 613. If the called line 5554 is busy, a potential of earth will be found on conductor 132 and relay 613 will be energized.
A circuit will then be established to from earth, to through the right inner frame and the front contact of relay 613, the front contact and the far right inner frame. of relay 611, the conductor 623 to the winding of relay 406, which will result, as previously, to connect the occupancy indicator device to the calling line.
Excitation of relay 613 also establishes a circuit to from earth, to through the outer armature of </ B > right of relay 613, winding of relay 617 to the battery, which results in energization of relay 617. The , relay 617, by drawing its armature on the left, opens the output circuit of relay 603, of relay 605 and of the electromagnet 606, so that these relays and the electromagnet de-energize.
De-energization of the 606 electromagnet causes the arm 610 to advance on its second position contact. Excitation of relay 617 opens the holding circuit of relay 611 and of the electromagnet 612, which de-energize, the electro- magnet 612 bringing the arms 604 and 607 to their second positions.
Excitation of relay 617 also closes a circuit, to from earth, to through the front contact and the outer right armature from relay 617 to the left winding of relay 602, and from there to the battery, thus constituting a restraining circuit for relay 602, so that. its outer left armature will no longer produce to again the excitation of the 603 relay. The excitation of the 617 relay also opens a circuit for the relay 111, which, by controlling the relay 125, produces the de-energization of the latter relay.
De-energizing relay 611 opens the circuit of the electromagnet 517, which, leaving its armature, opens the circuit for the recording relays 620, 621 < / B> and 622 and the control relay 518. When these relays are de-energized, it is evident that the electromagnets 129, 234 and 236, controlling the switch bars of the junction lines , de-energize.
The circuit is then in the following state The calling line 5555 is connected through the primary and secondary line switches to through the sending selector to </ B > the recorder to in fig. 5, and the loop at substation 100 produces continuous excitation of relay 405.
The busy indicator noise is transmitted to the calling line to through the front contact and the left side armature of relay 406, and this condition.
will be maintained until the subscriber places his receiver back in place on his hookswitch. A at this point, relay 405 de-energizes, producing in in turn the de-energization of restraint relay 400, after which a circuit is established, to from earth, to through the left armature and the rear contact of relay 400, the brush 537 and its fourth contact, the rear contact and the armature of the electromagnet 505, the winding of the relay 506, to </ B> the battery. Relay 506 provides an earth substitute for that supplied to the front contact of relay 400, so that relay 321 tic does not de-energize immediately.
The electromagnet 505, located in a circuit with automatic interruption, vibrates its armatures and activates the brushes it controls, so to bring them to their normal positions, after which the land on the broom 537 is extended to the broom 538, and the mile recorder, controlled by the 502, electromagnet, is returned to its normal position.
The earth on the 538 brush is then extended to the hundreds recorder, until the latter is returned to its normal position, then to the tens recorder, up to% this is returned to its normal position, and finally to the Unit Recorder until the latter is returned to its normal position. When moving the brush 515 to from its fifth contact, the relay circuit 600 is open, so that this relay de-energizes.
De-energizing relay 125 and electromagnet 129 removes the earth on conductor 131, of itself as relay 211 de-energizes, which results in the de-energization of relay 241, after which the earth is removed on the coil of relay 608; this relay, leaving its arming, opens the circuit for the relay 617, thus producing de-energization of relay 617 and relay 602. The sender and recorder were then brought back to their normal position.
After the brushes controlled by the electric-aiiyiant 505 have been returned to their normal position, the relay 506 de-energizes and removes the earth on the winding of relays 321, so that this relay de-energizes. By abandoning its armatures, the relay 321 removes the earth on the conductor 402, thus opening the circuit for the electromagnet Ô02, and the relay 330, which are de-energized. The electromagnet 302, controlling the switch bar of the lines, leaving its armature, opens the circuit for the relay 331, so that the earth is now deleted on conductor 332,
which results in the de-energization of the relays 221 and 121, of the electromagnets 202 and 102, thus returning all the connection to the normal state.
A condition other than the busy condition of the particular called line which will cause the 613, relay to de-energize is the case where all trunk lines from the primary line switch are busy.
In this case, a circuit will be established to by shooting from the earth, to through the right armature and the front contact of relay 121, the right armature and the front contact of relay 128, to the winding of the relay 613 and to the battery, so that the busy indicator noise will be transmitted to the calling party, as described above.
Assuming that line 5554 is free, the conductor 132 will not have earth potential and the battery connected to l The electromagnet 103 will be opposed to the battery connected to relay 613, and this relay will not be energized. After a short time interval the relay 61.5 will drop its armatures, after which the circuit passing to through the left armature of the relay 615 </ B > will be bypassed at the rear contact and at the armature of the relay 609, the front contact and the outer armature of. left of relay 614, the front contact and right side of relay 602, the rear contact and the left armature of relay 613, the front contact and armature left of relay 603, to earth.
This circuit closure will produce the excitation of the electromagnet 103 controlling the line switch bar, so that line 5554 will then be connected to trunk line 201. A circuit will be connected. then established to from the earth, through the outer left armature and the front contact of relay 241, the front contact and outer right side of relay 125, </ B> the outer left armature and the contact of the electromagnet 129, the conductor 132, the left winding of the relay 205 to the battery, this which will result in the excitation of this relay.
Excitation of relay 611 establishes a circuit to from earth, to through to the left armature, and the front contact of the relay 603, the left armature and the rear contact of the relay 613, the right armature and the front contact of the relay 602, the rear contact and the right armature of the relay 615, the right armature and the front contact of the relay 618, the front and extreme inner Par- mature contact of left of re lais 125, the frame of.
left-from relay 205, the right winding, from the electromagnet 203, to the battery, # so that this electromagnet energizes and connects the contacts of the switch bar. 238 to the contacts of the switching bar 235 of the junction lines, thus extending the line 5554 to the contacts of the bus 237 < / B> of the junction line finder.
Relay 231 is energized in a circuit, to from of the battery, to through the winding of relay 231, </ B> the conductor 232, the corresponding contacts of the switch bars 341 and 336, the conductor 333, the corresponding contacts of the switch bars < B> 827 and 322, the conductor 423, the corresponding contacts controlled by the electromagnets 517, the conductor 537, < / B> the rear contact and left armature of relay 617, the front contact and left armature of relay 603, to earth.
Excitation of the electromagnet 236, as described above, establishes a circuit to from earth, through through the front contact and the armature of the electromagnet 236, the front contact and the armature of the relay 231, the winding of the electromagnet 239 to the battery. The electromagnet 239 activates the switching bar 240 of the junction lines, so that the called line is thus extended to the bar 237 </ B> switching of the of junction lines. The electromagnet 239 also closes Li'n circuit, to through its front contact and its armature, to from the earth, up to 'to the winding of relay 244.
Relay 244 energizes and places an earth, to through the front contact and its left inner armature, on the third conductor of the line of </ B> junction going to the called subscriber's line. This earth is used to keep the electromagnet 203 and the electromagnet 103 excited through through their two windings in series.
A circuit is then established to from earth, to through the front contact and the right armature of relay 221, the conductor 230, < / B> the corresponding contacts of switch bars 336 and 341, the left front and Par- mature contact of the electromagnet 340, the front contact and the right inner armature of the relay 244, and from there in parallel to the winding of relay 244 and to the armature and to the front contact of the electromagnet < B> 239, the winding of the electromagnet 239, to the battery.
The excitation of the electromagnet 241, as previously described, also establishes a circuit to from earth, to through the interior nature. far left and the contact of relay 241, the coil of relay 618, at the battery, of course that this relay attracts its armatures.
The de-energization of the electromagnet 618 results in the attraction of its left armature and consequently the opening of the relay circuit 518, < / B> which is de-energized and opens the initial excitation circuit of the solenoid lOïl, and the excitation circuits of the registrar relays 620, 621 and 622. </ B>
In establishing the connections up to this point, it has been described the energization of relay 609. When energizing relay 614, a circuit has been established to </ B > starting from the earth, to through the outer left armature and the front contact of relay 614, the right armature and the front contact of relay 609, l 'relay winding 616 to the battery. The relay 616 then energizes in this circuit. When energizing relay 241, a circuit is established to from earth, to through left middle Par- mature and the forward contact of relay 241, l 'winding of relay 608, the battery.
Relay 608 opens. the circuit of relay 609, but this relay being slow to trip, keeps relay 616 energized for a determined time interval. After this time interval has elapsed, relay 609 attracts its armature and opens the circuit of relay 616. This relay is also to </ B > slow triggering, and keeps its armature attracted for an additional set period of time.
After this period of time has elapsed, the relay 616 de-energizes and extends the earth to the output of the relay 608 to through the rear contact and the armature of the relay. 616, through through the winding of relay 617. These two relays 609 and 616 are set in such a way that they will not produce the excitation of the relay 617 until the electromagnets 103 and 203 are energized, and the circuits, described conimis established up to this time, have been closed.
When energizing relay 617, a circuit is closed to from earth, through the outer right armature and the rear contact of the relay 613, the front contact and the right inner armature of the relay 617, the front contact and the right middle armature of the relay 611, the driver 625, the winding of the relay 5001 to the battery. The relay 500 energizes in this circuit and removes the earth on conductor 423, which had kept the electromagnet 302 energized until this time.
The elec tro-magnet 302 is then de-energized and disconnects the sender from the calling line and from the called line, so that the calling line no longer exercises control over relay 405. This Relay 405 de-energizes, producing in its turn the dewitation of relay 400, after which the arms of the register switch are returned to their normal position in the manner previously described.
The relay 617 also produces the de-energization of the various relays in the main registrar switch shown at the lower part of fig. 6, in the manner previously described, so that when the voyeur is disconnected from the calling line, it is returned to its normal position .
The de-energization of the electromagnet 302 produces the de-energization of the relay 330, after which the repeater coil 344 is connected, to through the contacts of relay 330, to the calling line and is connected, to through to the left contacts of relay 330, to the junction leading to the called line. The call control relay, 343 then de-energizes, in series with the calling line and places a ground on the coil of relay 331, replacing the earth placed on this winding by l 'electromagnet 302 until this moment.
When energizing relay 244, a ringing circuit for the called subscriber is established, to from a ringing current source 242, through the left-hand movement of bell relay 243, the rear contact and the inside swing frame of relay 243, the front contact and the left middle armature of relay 244, and of there, to through the contacts of the bus bars 240 and 237 says junction league seeker,
the switch bars 235 and 238 of the secondary line switch, the bars 130 and 133 of the primary line switch, the line conductors 5554, the ringing at substation 101, and from there back following a path parallel to the ar mature outside on the left and at the front contact of relay 244, Farinatu're on the outside on the left and the rear contact of relay 243 to earth.
Ceei produces ringing operation at substation 101. When the called subscriber answers, the current flow To through the left winding of relay 243 will be increased to the point where relay 243 energizes. By attracting its armatures, the relay 243 is engaged in a circuit to from the earth, a through its outer left and the contact of relay 244, the inner left hand control and the front contact of relay 243, the right winding of relay 243, to the earth.
By its left armatures, the relay 243 closes the circuit going from the repeater coil 344 to the called substation, and the monitoring relay of the called station, 245 is energized. The connection is at at this time in a talk condition and the conversation can take place.
It. y should be of noted that during the conversation period, the following electromagnets, 102, 202, 340, 239: 203 < / B> and 103 are excited. The relays 121, 128, 221, 233 and 239, associated with the switch bars of the junction lines actuated in this connection are also excited. The calling subscriber controls the monitoring relay 343, and the called subscriber controls the monitoring relay 345.
A the end of. during the conversation period, when the subscriber to station 100 hangs up his receiver on its switch hook, relay 343 is de-energized and opens the restraint relay circuit 331, so that the relay 221 de-energizes and removes the earth on the conductor 227, thus producing in in turn the de-energization of the relay 121 and electromagnets 202 and 102. Thus the calling subscriber triggers the line and the called subscriber, maintaining the relay 345 energized, hand holds the connection of his line to the repeater coil 344.
When the called subscriber hangs up and trips his relay 345, the earth is removed on the conductor 230, so that the connection is fully initiated.
