Dans ce dessin, la fig. 1 représente le tri cycle en élévation, vu de côté; la troisième roue est cachée par la roue motrice; La fig. 2 est une vue par derrière du tricycle représenté en fig. 1; certaines parties sont laissées de côté pour ne pas encombrer le dessin; La fig. 3 est une vue en plan de l'axe d'arrière de la. machine; La fig. 4 est une coupe verticale par le dit axe, certains organes n'étant pas repré sentés;
Un pignon- à -chaîne d3 auquel le mouvement du moteur est .commu niqué est calé sur l'extrémité de l'arbre d,. Ce dernier porte trois pignons d4 cl,;
Motor tricycle. The object of the present invention is a motor tricycle of the type which comprises a driving wheel and a steering wheel in the same plane, the motor being largely supported by the third wheel. This tricycle is characterized in that it has a gearbox whose. last wheel is on the geometric axis of the driving wheel. In the accompanying drawing, it is mounted as an example of one embodiment of said machine.
In this drawing, fig. 1 represents the tri-cycle in elevation, seen from the side; the third wheel is hidden by the driving wheel; Fig. 2 is a view from behind of the tricycle shown in FIG. 1; some parts are left out so as not to clutter the drawing; Fig. 3 is a plan view of the rear axis of the. machine; Fig. 4 is a vertical section through said axis, certain organs not being represented;
Fig. 5 is a side view of the engine; Fig. 6 includes side, front and top views of the front fork, in which parts are shown in section; The, fig. 7 is a side view of the suspension of the wheel supporting the motor; Fig. 8 is a partially sectional view of the luggage carrier disposed above the drive wheel; Fig. 9 is a view of a detail.
The tricycle shown has a frame made from a single piece of cast iron with the various eyes required by the adjustments of the various parts. This frame is supported at the front by the steering wheel b, at the rear by the driving wheel c. The latter is hand held by an axis c, rotating in the ball bearings c2 c3 and which is held outwards by a -c4 interlocking in which the wheel hub is clamped.
This shaft c rotates in a bearing of the gearbox d and is extended inside the latter by a .shaft cl, whose geometrical axis corresponds to that of the driving wheel. This shaft rests at one end on the end of the shaft c, and on the other on a ball bearing d2 housed in the side of the gearbox.
A chain sprocket d3 to which the movement of the motor is communicated is wedged on the end of the shaft d ,. This last carries three pinions d4 cl;
, d, which are in relation, d., and d, with toothed wheels e, respectively e_.,. which turn idle on a second shaft e journaled .parallel- ment to the shaft dl also in the walls of the . gearbox, and d, with an engine-starting device that will be. described later.
The shaft e carries a ballader e3 which can be engaged either with the wheel e1 or with the. wheel e. by means of the gearshift lever in order to secure either one or the other of said wheels with the shaft e and to communicate to the latter the. shaft rotation dl.
The movement is then transmitted by means of a toothed pinion e4 integral with d @ a.rbre e to. a toothed wheel c ;; provided on the end of the shaft here. This wheel- c is the last of the. gearbox; it is on the .geometric axis of the driving wheel.
The wheel d is in continuous communication with a toothed wheel f carrying pawls f1 arranged for, c. Co-operate with a keyed wheel on an axis f3 by a chain wheel. With the- wheel f:
, integral with the pedals f ,. This device constitutes a cléma.rreur (kick-starter) for the engine operated with one or the other of the pedals.
With the engine started, the wheel f rotating at its normal speed, the pawls f1 are driven by the Centrifugal force out of the toothing of the wheel f2 and without further disengaging the chain wheels connecting this starter to the pedals.
One of these can be secured in any position with the. wheel f, by means of a device not shown. We can, in this way, put the two pedals parallel and tilt them so that they can serve as footrests. person taking place in tandem behind the. driver's seat.
Much of the engine is provided by the third wheel.
The wheel d 'is linked by a vertical chain with a pinion g, with a chain also rotating idly on the shaft g of the engine h, including the crankpins h., And the piston rod 3 @ 2 are partially shown in FIG. 4.
This pinion g1 is constantly coupled with the motor shaft by means of a lamellae coupling i of known construction, the release lever g2 of which is placed on the crankcase lr. @ Of the motor.
A rod g ï makes it possible to maneuver this release by means of an elbow lever journaled in the frame and to. the reach chi foot of the driver. The.
dis position of, the vertical chain connecting the pins d3 and g1 is such that, when the motor is working under load, that of its bearings immediately adjacent to the to slat coupling z is largely unloaded . The force of the piston rod la = is referred to the conductive end of the chain.
The latter is tensioned by pivoting the motor la around a horizontal support A4 (fig. 3) fixed on one end in the gearbox d and on the other in the suspension frame the of the third wheel.
The mo tor is based on another side on a sleeve h.-, fixed on a support held in a manner similar to luff. The Ta motor is supported by means of two screws h., Allowing said motor to oscillate around the geometric axis of the support 1a4. It is through this oscillation that the chain tension is adjusted.
The suspension frame 7c for the, third wheel comprises the want necessary for tightening the supports lao and la, and, in addition, bosses 1c1 in which slide tubes 7c # - supporting the bearing the; for the third wheel.
These tubes 1. = each contain two springs le, Ic, between which are introduced 7ce pegs taken in the bosses le, and passing through the walls of the tubes in slots made at. this effect.
The weight of this third wheel is therefore fully supported by the springs and the roughness of the ground, due to the inertia of the motor located in the immediate vicinity of the bearing k: ,, are not reported. on the rest of the machine.
The lateral forces are received by the 7c1 tubes and by the lao and h.E. supports. Above the the drive wheel, a luggage rack l of a known model is provided, supported at its rear by two tubes h and 4, each containing a spring 1 < / B> 3 respectively l4,
the whole being mounted so that the weight supported by the luggage rack is resiliently supported by the spring 13, the jolts of the road, on the other hand, holding to project the luggage carrier upwards, being damped by the spring 14. This arrangement allows the addition to the luggage rack - of a tandem seat whose occupant can use the pedals f.,
as a footrest and is not jerked off as it is on conventional construction luggage racks.
The steering wheel b is connected on each side to the machine by means of a tube b1 containing a spring b2 and articulated to the.
fork b3 by a connecting rod b4 whose oscillation axes are tightened by means of collars, on the one hand, on the rod b ,, on the other hand, on the rod b1. The top of the tubes is drilled right through to receive the flattened ends of a shaft b, which pivots in a bearing - b ,; come of cast iron with the fork crown.
The springs b2 are therefore constantly compressed by this shaft b.In the construction shown, when an obstacle arrives under the front wheel, the latter is not only raised due to the impact under the rim, but there is the possibility of this wheel to get closer, expensive to the fork b3 therefore to move backwards relative to the vehicle.
At this time, there is an oscillation of the shaft b, in its bearing; this vertical movement as well .que recoil is very suitable for absorbing the shocks that the vehicle must undergo due to the roughness of the terrain.
