a bezeichnet den Glaskörper, b' und b2 .die über dessen Enen gelegten Hülsen mit den Fahnen c1 und c\ zum Einsetzen in fe dernde Klemmen;
andere Funkenstrecke in Tätig keit kommt usw.
Voltage limiter for low-voltage systems. Subject: the present invention is a further embodiment of a voltage limiter for low-voltage systems still the claim of the main patent. According to the invention, each pole of the same has several electrodes connected in parallel; and the electrodes of the same polarity are mounted in one of the glass feet at the two ends of the glass body.
In the accompanying drawing, an embodiment of the new voltage limiter is shown, namely by: Fig. 1 in section, and by Fig. 2 in side view.
a denotes the glass body, b 'and b2. the sleeves placed over its Enen with the flags c1 and c \ for insertion in spring clamps;
and e1, e2 the glass feet, each of which is fused to one end of the glass body a. Two electrodes d1, d2 are fused into 'the upper glass base e', which are connected to one another by a wire f,
while the electrode d2 is also connected to the sleeve b 'by the lead wire f . Three electrodes g1, g2, g 'are fused into the lower glass foot, of which the two outer ones, g' and g3, each through a wire hl, h 'with the middle one, g2,
are conductively connected, while tile through the wire i with, the sleeve b '' conductive., is connected.
The position of the electrodes d1, d2 on the one hand and the electrodes g1, g2, g 'on the other hand is such that the electrodes d', d2 protrude into the gaps between the electrodes gi, g2, gs.
In order to achieve the correct distance from one another, the electrodes g ', g3 are each provided with a bend in the vicinity of the melting point.
By the arrangement of the electrodes described four spark gaps he aims. In the event of an overvoltage, a spark strikes at one of these sparks, and the aluminum layers of the two adjacent electrode surfaces will only wear out if this path has been in operation for a longer period of time, whereupon a,
another spark gap comes into operation, etc. It is evident that this considerably extends the usefulness of the whole; In the exemplary embodiment shown, this is, according to the presence of four spark gaps, a four inal larger than in the case of a voltage limiter with only two electrodes, respectively. only one spark gap.
From what has been said, it can be seen that there is no potential difference between the electrodes mounted in the same glass base and that, in the event of an effect, only one of the electrodes of the same base is traversed by the current; the electrode through which no current flows then has a cooling effect on the other.
This has the further consequence that the glass feet are not heated significantly either, in the case of the version described in the main patent, where the glass, as a second-class conductor, enables current to pass between the electrodes.
The melting of the feet into the body of the glass does not offer the glassblower any difficulties, as the correct distance between the electrodes can be set with sufficient accuracy by eye measurement.
As in the main patent, the core of the electrodes is preferably made of copper and provided with an aluminum layer at the flashover points. Instead of copper, the same could also be made of copper alloys, nickel or another metal whose melting point is higher than that of aluminum.
