Description

Ball hinge. The present invention relates to a ball hinge.

The ball-and-socket hinge according to the present invention has a tail engaged and held in a housing which part of the hinge has, the whole being arranged in such a way that said tail can be released from said housing.

The accompanying drawing, by way of example, shows an embodiment of a ball hinge.

Fig. 1 is a pinned and closed side sectional view thereof; Fig. 2 is a front elevational view; Fi; g. 3 is a view similar to that of FIG. 1 of the unlocked and open hinge; Fig. 4 is a detailed sectional view thereof showing the arrangement of an auxiliary nailing piston; Fig. 5 is a schematic plan view of a mechanical control of the four hinges of a vehicle.

In the example shown, it has been assumed that the spherical hinge in question serves to assemble one on top of the other a frame or mobile frame A and a fixed frame B, in the case, for example, of a similar device. to the "device for unloading and loading materials" which is the subject of Swiss Patent No. 106351, but, of course, this hinge is capable of other very numerous applications.

The ball joint 1 of the. hinge pivots freely inside .d'un housing 2 'provided in a support 2 integral with the movable frame A, but remains maintained in this housing.

The tail 3 of the ball, when the movable frame A rests on the fixed frame B, enters a housing 4 'provided in a support 4 integral with the latter. This tail comprises a recess 5, circular into which enters, when the movable frame A is in place on the fixed frame B, a stop catch 6 to hold it in the housing 4 '.

The ball of the hinge still remaining protected in its housing 2 'is perfectly safe. gravel and dust. In addition, gravel which would be caught in the housing 4 'of the tail of the hinge would be crushed when the hinge was replaced.

The cleat 6 is maneuvered using a clamping handle "7 actuating an eccentric pin 8 which plays in a recess 9 of the stop cleat 6 and pushes the latter into the recess 5 of the tail 3 or on the contrary, the release of this recess following the direction of operation of the handle 7.

Thanks to this arrangement, oii has a large lever arm and a clamping force. very energetic on the tail of the kneecap, corresponding to a relatively low force at the end of the handle. 7.

When the. tail 3 of the ball 1 ist freed from its housing 4 and it comes out, a special locking prevents, on the one hand, the. ball of the hinge to tilt or move in its housing, on the other hand, the tightening handle to play the stopper forward.

It is necessary, in fact, that, on the one hand, the tail of the hinge is exactly in line with its housing 4 'and that, on the other hand, the ariet cleat is entirely clear behind to allow the hinge to be replaced when the mobile frame A comes to rest again on the fixed frame B.

The head of the hinge is locked using a small piston 10 arranged in a housing 11 of the ball support. 1. and that a spring 13 comes (fis. 3) push back. keys the exit of the tail 3 key the. hinge of its support 4, inside a housing 13 formed through the, hinge and qu1oe- cup a. rod 14, stopper at its. lower part against a pin 15 integral with the support 4, but released as soon as the tail 3 comes out of its support. The ball 1. is then immobilized in its housing by the piston 10.

The parts facing each of the housings 11 and 13 are slightly flared to allow easy movement of the shank 3 and of the piston 10. of the uncoupling and the coupling of the hinge and its fixed support. A shoulder 14 'of the strip 14 prevents the latter from falling.

When the hinge is put back in place, the rod 14 abutting against the axis 15, pushes the piston 10 upwards against the action of the spring 12, until the upper end of this rod is flush with the periphery of the ball joint 1_ The ball joint 1. therefore pivots. again freely in his accommodation.

The locking of the stopper 6 is effected by means of a rod 16 disposed in a housing 17 of the support 4 and abutting normally against the base 1 'of the ball 1 of the hinge. As soon as tail 3 of the. hinge comes out. from its housing, a spring 18 pushes back towards the hart the rod 16 which, bearing against a cutaway 19 of the axis 8, immobilizes the latter and, consequently, the tab 6.

The reinstallation of the. hinge, by automatically producing the lowering of the upper end of the rod 16, disengages the axis 8 and allows the handle 7 to be actuated again to pin the cha.r- iiièr e.

A second small piston 20 (fig. 4). normally pushed upwards by a res out 21 butting against a threaded plug 22, allows the eccentric axis 8 to be immobilized due to the stop before the nailing piston 16 has been able to start its action, at the beginning of the ungluing of the two parts of the ball hinge. The conical head 20 'of this small piston penetrates for this purpose in a corresponding housing 23 of the axis 8. and it is necessary to exert a certain force on the handle of the lever, to release this piston head from its housing and push it back to allow it. axis rotation 8.

When the stopper #i is closed, the piston head. 20 key even enters another housing 24 of axis 6.

The control of the eccentric axis 8 can be carried out, if desired, from the driver's seat itself, thanks to. mechanical transmissions. Hydraulic or others.

Such a mechanical control of the four hinges .. of a vehicle can be achieved as is shown in FIG. 5, so as to obtain, for example, at will the tilting of a bucket from the rear, on one side, or on the other side.

A toothed sector 25, a rack 26, a bar 27, a rack 28, a toothed sector 29, a connecting rod. 30 articulated integral with this sector ,. a rod 31 and an articulated rod 32 integral with the eccentric axis 8 each connect the two rear hinges a and b of this axis 8 respectively to each (the two front hinges c and d of the ex centered axis 8 with a handle 7c respectively 7d.

The operation of the handle 7 of the hinge c produces the unpinning of this hinge, and at the same time the pinning of the hinge a and vice versa. The same applies to the hinges b and d.

The two rear hinges a and b is finally maintained normally pinned and, consequently, the hinges ed normally un-, #; orpillated by springs schematically represented at 33. In activating the handle 7c to close c, the tilting is produced on the hinges b and c.

By moving the handle 7d to close d, we therefore produce the tilting on the hinges a and d. Finally, to tilt backwards, it suffices to leave the two handles 7c and 7d in the open position.

It is clear that the two handles 7c and 7d can be replaced by a single handle engaging either with one wheelhouse or with the other, after having abandoned one of these wheelhouses in the rest position.

In the case of hydraulic control of the hinges, it would suffice to garnish the stop duets 6, forming. then pistons; of leathers and springs (the reminder (by removing the ares 8 and the handles 7) and putting them in relation by a valve ii, preferably four ways, within the reach of the driver; three of the valve ways corresponding to the operation of the hinges two by two (two rear, two right side, two left side) and the fourth to the maneuver by jack, for example: of the tipper.
