Obturateur.
Shutter. The present invention relates to a shutter allowing a fluid to pass only in one direction, shutter comprising an envelope closed at one of its ends and provided with openings capable of being closed by a sleeve which can be moved. inside the casing and in which an oscillating valve is arranged.
The appended drawing gives, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the present invention used in two different ways.
Fig. 1 shows, in longitudinal section, the application of the shutter to a barrel plug; Fig. 2 shows, in longitudinal section, the application of the shutter in the suction pipe of an explosion engine.
In the first application, the shutter is intended to make it possible to escape the fermentation gases of a liquid contained in a barrel provided with this plug and to prevent the liquid from being projected out of the barrel.
The bung 1, intended to close a barrel, is pierced longitudinally; in this opening is disposed a tube 2 in which is fitted the casing 3 of the shutter, which is closed at its end 4 and provided with orifices 5, capable of being closed by the sleeve 6. This sleeve 6 consists of a hollow cylinder which can be moved inside the casing 3. The sleeve 6 contains a valve 7 oscillating around its axis arranged perpendicular to that of the sleeve 6. This valve 7 is thicker by a side than the other so as to be kept open. A stop 8 is provided inside the sleeve 6 to allow the valve 7 to butter when in its closed position.
When the liquid contained in the tone of new wine, for example, produces fermentation gases, these can escape freely through the openings 5, but if, for one reason or another, such as, for example, , the transport of the barrel the wine is agitated, it will not be thrown out of the barrel, because the liquid, while trying to pass, will make the valve 7 pivot around its axis and bump against the stop 8, which will have for the effect of lifting the sleeve 6 which will close the openings 5.
This device can be surmounted by a container 9 containing alcohol and communicating with the tube 2 by a seal 10, placed at the end of a tube 11 provided with openings 12 at its upper part and which are surrounded by rees by a sleeve 13, plunging through its lower opening into the alcohol contained in the container.
The air which must be introduced into the tone neau when the wine is drawn off will have to bubble in the alcohol in the container 9, which will have the effect of ensuring better preservation of the wine.
In the second application, represented by FIG. 2, the shutter comprises the same elements, namely the casing 3, closed at 4 and provided with openings 5. The sleeve 6 also contains a valve 7 capable of bumping against a stop 8.
In this application, the shutter is fixed in the suction pipe of an explosion engine. The engine can normally suck the fuel gas necessary for its supply and moving in the direction of the arrows shown in the drawing. If, accidentally, there is a return of burnt gases in the intake pipe, an accident liable to cause the explosion of the carburettor, the valve 7 will pivot around its axis under the pressure which acts in the opposite direction. the one indicated by the arrows; the sleeve 6 will then be moved and brought from the openings 5 which it will close; all danger will then be eliminated. This shutter can be fixed in the gasoline pipe between the carburetor and the tank as an additional safety device.
