Ski with recoil brake. The object of the invention is a ski with a recoil brake of the type of those which comprise, as a brake member, a pallet pivotally mounted on the rear end of the ski board and requested by a return force. , so that it always tends to sink into the snow to oppose the retrograde sliding of the ski, especially on the way up.
To this end, the pallet is subjected to the action of a torsion spring and comprises a cam which determines by jamming the locking of the pallet, when the latter is raised, against the torsion spring, and brought into a position where it is out of action.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 shows, part in section along line A-B of FIG. 2 and part in elevation, the rear end of the ski on which the recoil brake is mounted; Fig. 2 is a plan view thereof, the brake paddle being shown raised, in the position in which it is disabled; Fig. 3 is a side projection of FIG. 1, showing the ski seen from the rear. On the rear end of the board 1 of the ski is fixed by screws 2 a metal support 3 having two flanges 4.
Between the latter is pivotally mounted, by means of an axis 5, a pallet 6 comprising a sector 7. The curved surface of the sector 7 is, over most of its angular extent, concentric with respect to the axis. pivoting of the pallet 6; however, it has towards its end a slight protruding ramp ending in a spout 7 '.
In a core 8, formed in the pallet 6 concentrically with respect to the axis 5, is housed a torsion spring 9, one end of which is hooked to the bottom of the core, while the other end is secured in a notch of one of the flanges 4. The spring 9 always tends to maintain the pallet 6 in its operating position and to bring it back to this position, indicated in solid lines in FIGS. 1 and 3.
As long as the ski slides forward, the paddle 6 is lifted by the snow, roughly as shown in phantom in fig. 1. But as soon as the ski moves back, the paddle 6 sinks into the snow and is brought back to the position shown in solid lines in FIGS. 1 and 3. In this position, the pallet is pressed against the rear face of the ski and is placed transversely with respect to the axis of the latter, so that it effectively opposes the retrograde sliding of the ski.
On the descent or on flat terrain, the skier can put the brake out of action by raising the pallet 6, as shown in phantom in fig. 1, until it is blocked by the action of the rod 7, part of which 7 'gets stuck in the metal support 3.
The brake may include a toothed accessory pallet intended to be fitted on the pallet 6 when the snow is hard or frozen. Such an accessory pallet is shown in phantom in fig. 3. It is formed of a sheath 10 having teeth 11 and is fitted onto the pallet 6. The pointed teeth 11 ensure the operation of the brake even on hard snow or on ice.
