Description

   On part d'une pla  quette métallique 1 dans laquelle on a percé  une fenêtre 2     (fig.    1), puis à l'étampe on plie  cette plaquette de façon à lui donner, en sec  tion droite, d'abord la forme d'un U     (fig.    2)  puis celle d'un étrier allongé     (fig.    3); après  quoi, on introduit à l'intérieur une petite       lige    3     (fig.    4), puis à l'étampe on applique les  deux branches de l'étrier contre la     tige    3 et  l'une contre l'autre     (fig.    5);

  Method of manufacturing studs for wristwatches and stud obtained by this process. The present invention relates to. a method of manufacturing studs for wristwatches and a stud obtained by this process.

  As is well known, the studs for wristwatches are parts intended to be fixed to the case of wristwatches and to receive the handles of the bracelet. Most often, these studs are obtained by folding a metal plate and usually the folding is carried out as follows (Fig. 1 to 6 of the attached drawing).

   We start with a metal plate 1 in which a window 2 has been drilled (fig. 1), then with the stamping this plate is folded so as to give it, in straight section, first the shape of a U (fig. 2) then that of an elongated stirrup (fig. 3); after which, one introduces inside a small rod 3 (fig. 4), then with the stamp one applies the two branches of the caliper against the rod 3 and one against the other (fig. 5) ;

   the rod 3 removed, we obtain the stud shown in FIG. 6, the window 2 producing the separation which exists between the two knuckles 4. This process is long, because the studs are produced one by one and because the blank must pass through a whole series of stamps; moreover, the alloy is quite expensive.

  The object of the claimed process is to remedy these drawbacks. 11 is characterized: in that a metal strip is passed through the die so as to make a tube having a straight section in the form of an elongated stirrup, a rod is placed inside _ and then passed through the die so as to fold one of the branches of the stirrup around the rod and against the other branch.

  Figs. 7 to 13 of the accompanying drawing relate to an example of implementation of this process.

  We start with a long metal strip 5 (fig. 7) that we pass through the die so as to transform it into a gutter having, in cross section, first the shape of a U or green (fig. 8), then a closed U (Fig. 9) and finally an elongated stirrup (Fig. 10).

   After which, a round rod 6 is placed in the gutter (fig. 10), then the whole is passed through the die so as to fold one of the branches of the stirrup around the rod and against the other. branch (fig. 11 and 1?); after which the rod 6 is removed and the blank is placed on a lathe where it is cut by a circular saw into sections the length of a stud at the same time as a cutter hollows out the free space that must exist between the two knuckles. One thus obtains studs having the shape of that shown in FIG. 13:

   the cross section of this stud has the general shape of a cros- seron pierced with a hole in its head, while the studs obtained by the known process, described in the introduction, have a straight section (fig. 6 ) symmetrical with respect to their vertical axis.
