Riveting plate for nailing machine. The present invention relates to a riveting plate for a nailing machine, which is characterized in that in the chamber formed by the frame and a fixed cross member is housed a movable part comprising ramps intended to control a nailing frame s 'interlocking, with free play, on said frame and carrying at its upper part a pla that of shore; the movable part being controlled by a link which receives its reciprocating movement from a vertical shaft actuated by means of a cam fixed to the nailing shaft.
One embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawing, by way of example and schematically.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view; Fig. 2 is a plan view; Fig. 3 is a detail in a plan view; Fig. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 2.
As can be seen in the drawing, the rivet plate comprises a cast iron frame 1 fixed on the table 26 of the nailing machine by means of the lugs 2. On this frame 1 is fixed a cast iron cross member 3 on which is screwed a hardened shore plate 4. In the chamber formed by the assembly of the frame 1 and the cross member 3 is arranged a part 5 so that it can move longitudinally in this chamber. At its upper part, this movable part 5 is provided with two ramps 6 of hardened steel intended to control the nailing frame 7 which fits freely on the assembly constituted by the frame 1, the cross member 3 with its plate, 4 and part 5 with its ramps 6.
This nailing frame 7 consists of two square pieces assembled by two plates 8 using screws 9 (fig. 1, 2).
Each vertical wall of this frame, at determined locations, is provided with two openings 10 serving to accommodate the shouldered baskets 11 fixed to the outside by screws. These rings 11 are mounted on two pins 12 passing through said frame 7.
Each axis 12 carries inside the frame two rollers 13 controlled by the rams 6. This riveting plate is controlled by a device comprising a cam 14 of an appropriate shape fixed to the shaft 35 controlling the member. nailing machine which is not shown in the drawings.
Against this cam 14 applies a roller 16 fixed to a pin 17 housed in the free end of an elbow lever 15 (Figs. 1 and 3).
The roller 16 is constantly kept in contact with the cam 14 by means of a suitable spring 18 fixed, on the one hand, on the extension of the axis 17 and, on the other hand, on a tab 19 fixed on the base 20 of the nailing machine. The tension of this spring can be adjusted by means of a wing nut 21.
The angled lever 15 is fixed on a vertical shaft 22 provided with two axial grooves 23. This shaft is housed at its lower part in a bearing 24 which is fixed on the base 20 of the machine. The upper part of this shaft is held in a support forming a bearing 25 fixed to the side of the table 26 of the machine.
In addition, on the shaft 22 is fixed a lever 27 (FIG. 2) in the bore of which are fixed two keys 28 corresponding to the grooves 23 of the vertical shaft 22. This lever 27 can slide freely on this shaft 22 and is controlled by it thanks to the keys 28 whatever the position of the worktable.
At the free end of the lever 27 is fixed by means of the pin 30 a yoke 29 to which is connected one end of the rod 31 with reciprocating movement and the other end of which is attached to the yoke. 32 fixed to the rod by a pin 34. This rod 33 is integral with the movable part 5 and the control. The work table 26 is fixed on the upright 36.
The operation of this rivet plate is as follows: When the machine is stationary, the roller 16 of the lever 15 is applied against the least protruding part of the cam 14 and the moving part 5 is brought back to the full stroke to the left. In this position, the ramps 6 of the part 5 are engaged under the rollers 13 and hold the nailing frame 7 raised.
As seen in fig. 4, this frame protrudes in this position from the quenched shore plate 4.
At this time, the objects to be assembled and riveted are placed on the frame 7 using spikes or nails of determined length.
By an appropriate command, the shaft 35 is then started which controls, by a device not shown in the drawing, the apparatus (plunger) intended to drive the tips or nails into the objects to be assembled.
At the same time, this shaft 35 rotates the cam 14 which in its rotation imparts to the bent lever 15 an angular movement in a horizontal plane. This angular movement rotates the shaft 22 which, in turn, causes the lever 27 to also describe an angular movement. As a result, the rod 31 is pushed back to the right and pushes the part 5 also to the right via the rod 33 so that the ramps 6 are released from the rollers 13.
At this moment, the nailing frame 7 no longer being supported by the ramps 6 descends and the spikes or nails which have been driven into the objects to be assembled come to meet the hardened shore plate 4 to turn over and rivet on this plate .
The operation is thus completed and if the shaft 35 has operated a complete revolution, the nailing frame 7 is raised again by the ramps 6 and, consequently, the control members are returned to their initial position.
