Einwellen-Radialturbine.
Single-shaft radial turbine. With certain types of radial turbines, very strong axial thrusts occur. In the case of these turbines, the steam pressure of all stages acts in the axial direction on the disk carrier of the radial rotor blade groups. In order to compensate for this strong axial thrust, special precautions must be taken, which make the structure of the turbine extremely complex; for example, according to a known proposal, the disc itself is used as a compensating piston.
Since this causes large losses, such an arrangement is inexpedient.
The invention eliminates these difficulties. It relates to a single-shaft radial turbine with rotors connected against one another to compensate for thrust and consists in the fact that the turbine is divided into two blade parts housed in separate housings, between which a power-consuming machine is arranged, and that the two rotors Sitting free-flying on the shaft ends of the power-consuming machine in between.
An embodiment of the subject invention shows the figure. . The shaft 1 is guided to the two housings 5 and 6 of the radial turbine via the two bearings 2 and 3 and the gear 4 of a power consuming machine seated between them; the rotors of the turbine sit on both shaft ends. The two Ge housings are essentially the same. The rotors consist of exposed discs ben 7 with radial blade groups 8 between tween which radial guide vane rings 9 are attached to the housing. The steam is introduced through supply pipes 10 and 11, the axial centers of which coincide with the shaft axis.
A pressure ring 12 forms a fixed point with regard to the thermal expansion and the displacement as a result of any axial differential forces that occur. The steam is introduced into both housings in the directions of the arrows. It therefore acts on the two disks in opposite directions, so that the axial forces normally cancel each other out. For the supply of steam, it does not matter whether the steam flow is supplied to both housings in parallel or in series. In the latter case, the exhaust pipe 13 of the first housing can be in direct connection with the supply pipe 11 of the second housing.
With this steam supply, the high-pressure wheel can be kept relatively small, so that very small amounts of steam can be processed economically with such a turbine. The fact that the radially acted upon discs are arranged free-floating means that high-pressure stuffing boxes can be saved.
If necessary, the machine to be driven, for example a generator, can also be placed between bearings 2 and 3. In this case, the two rotors of the turbine are arranged free-floating on the ends of the armature shaft of the generator.
