Description
Verfahren zum Färben von elastischen Produkten. Man färbt Kautschuk und Kautschuk mischungen bisher durch Einwalzen von pulverförmigen Farbstoffen auf der Misch walze. Diese Arbeitsweise ist nicht nur wegen der Staubentwicklung durch den trockenen Farbstoff unangenehm und un ökonomisch, sondern sie hat auch noch an dere Nachteile, die zum Beispiel darin be stehen, dass einige Farbstoffe bei der Her stellung nicht in genügend feinkörniger Form gewonnen werden und bei ihrer An wendung, besonders bei dünnwandigen Kaut schukfabrikaten, die Gefahr der Loehbil- dung durch grobe Farbstoffteilehen besteht.
Ferner ist bei grobverteilten Farbstoffen im allgemeinen die Farbkraft nicht besonders gross.
Es wurde nun gefunden, dass man ela stische Produkte, wie Kautschuk und die Polymerisationsprodukte von Butadienkoh- lenwasserstoffen in vorteilhafter Weise fär ben kann, wenn man pulverförmige Farb- stoffe durch mechanische Behandlung mit höher molekularen organischen Stoffen, in denen die Farbstoffe nicht löslich sind und die den elastischen Produkten ohne wesent liche Beeinträchtigung ihrer Eigenschaften zugesetzt werden können, innig vermischt und die so erhaltenen Mischungen den zu färbenden elastischen Produkten einverleibt.
Hierbei geht der Farbstoff in ausserordent lich. feine Verteilung über, und es ist da durch sein leichtes und gleichmässiges Ein mischen in Kautschuk etc. gewährleistet, bei gleichzeitiger Erzielung der denkbar grössten Färbekraft des Farbstoffes: Die mechanische Behandlung kann zum Beispiel unter Be nützung von starkwirkenden Walzen, Strang pressen und dergleichen erfolgen.
Geeignete höhermolekulare organische Stoffe, in denen die Farbstoffe nicht löslich sind und die den elastischen Produkten ohne wesentliche Beeinträchtigung ihrer Eigen schaften zugesetzt werden können, sind Roh- kautschuk, Kautschukregenerate, Polymeri- sationsprodukte von Butadienkohlenwasser- stoffen, Faktis, vegetabilische, animalische oder mineralische Öle und Fette, oder dar aus gewonnene plastische oder hochvis kose Produkte, Glyzerin, Kautschukweich- macbungsmittel,
ferner plastische oder hoch viskose Alterungsschutzmittel und Vulkani- sationsbeschleuniger etc. oder Gemische die ser Stoffe.
In vielen Fällen tritt bei Anwendung der Farbmassen eine sehr erwünschte Erwei chung der Kautschukrohmischung etc. ein, zum Beispiel bei Verwendung von Faktis, die durch den Vulkanisationsprozess nach träglich wieder beseitigt wird. Man kann den Farbmassen auch weitere Stoffe zu mischen, insbesondere solche, die für die Verarbeitung des Kautschuks erforderlich oder vorteilhaft sind.
Beispiel: Man mischt durch Anreiben auf dem Dreiwalzenstuhl 100 Gewichtsteile Cad- miumgelb sehr innig mit 100 Gewichtsteilen einer Faktis von geeigneter Konsistenz. Es entsteht ein völlig homogenes Gemisch, das den Farbstoff in sehr feiner Verteilung ent hält und das man in den zu färbenden Kaut schuk oder das zu färbende Polymerisations- produkt eines Butadienkohlenwasserstoffes einwalzt.

It has now been found that elastic products such as rubber and the polymerization products of butadiene hydrocarbons can advantageously be colored if pulverulent dyes are mechanically treated with higher molecular weight organic substances in which the dyes are not soluble which can be added to the elastic products without any essential impairment of their properties, are intimately mixed and the mixtures thus obtained are incorporated into the elastic products to be colored.
Here, the dye goes in extraordinary. fine distribution over, and it is ensured by its easy and even mixing in rubber, etc., while at the same time achieving the greatest possible coloring power of the dye: The mechanical treatment can be carried out, for example, using powerful rollers, extrusion presses and the like.
Suitable high molecular weight organic substances in which the dyes are insoluble and which can be added to the elastic products without significant impairment of their properties are raw rubber, regenerated rubber, polymerisation products of butadiene hydrocarbons, factice, vegetable, animal or mineral oils and fats, or plastic or highly viscous products obtained from them, glycerine, rubber softeners,
also plastic or highly viscous anti-aging agents and vulcanization accelerators, etc. or mixtures of these substances.
In many cases, when using the color compounds, a very desirable softening of the raw rubber mixture etc. occurs, for example when using factice, which is subsequently removed again by the vulcanization process. You can also mix other substances with the color masses, in particular those which are necessary or advantageous for processing the rubber.
Example: 100 parts by weight of cadmium yellow are mixed very intimately with 100 parts by weight of a factice of suitable consistency by rubbing on a three-roller mill. The result is a completely homogeneous mixture which contains the dye in a very fine distribution and which is rolled into the rubber to be colored or the polymerisation product of a butadiene hydrocarbon to be colored.
