Mit i sind Begrenzungswiderstände be zeichnet.
Device for generating a control potential for the controllable grid full mercury vapor rectifiers or valves. It is known that electrical valves and mercury vapor rectifiers can be controlled by means of grids which are positively or negatively charged. An auxiliary direct current source is generally necessary to charge the grid with positive or negative potential. This auxiliary DC power source often means an undesirable complication of the control device.
The invention now relates to a device that avoids the installation of a special auxiliary DC power source for Steue tion of the grid. Experiments have shown that metal parts that are insulated inside a rectifier take on a potential when the arc is burning, which is between the potential of the anode and that of the cathode. According to the invention, such metal parts are used as an auxiliary power source for charging grids with a positive voltage with respect to the cathode.
The subject of the invention is thus a device for generating a control potential for the controllable grid of Queeksilberdampf-equalizer and -Ven valves, which is characterized in that "on an arc independent of the working arc between the anode and cathode, insulated metal parts are applied, from which the positive control potential is taken.
In the drawing, exemplary embodiments of the invention are shown schematically, namely Fig. 1 shows the use of grids assigned to the exciter anodes of a mercury vapor rectifier as a potential source for the controllable grid of its main anodes,
and Fig. 2 shows the placement of the grid serving as a potential source in a special auxiliary cable. t> In the exemplary embodiment according to FIG. 1, a means a mercury vapor rectifier with an anode b and cathode e. That of the anode b upstream, controllable grids are labeled d . The excitation anodes of the rectifier are labeled ei, e, , they are fed from the transformer J.
The exciter anodes are preceded by the metal grids g "A", which are insulated from the rectifier housing and conductively connected to one another, as well as to the changeover switch 16. The arc between the exciter anodes and the cathode presses the im Metallic grids attached between the potential of the anode and the cathode are connected to the arc-way and the positive potential is applied to the control grid d of the anode b by switch h can.
The value of the positive control potential can be made variable by throttling or constricting the excitation arc independent of the working arc on the way from the grid as the potential source to the cathode, for example by means of arc guide sleeves, sieves or the like. The excitation system is expediently multi-anodic and three-phase, so that the conductively connected grids of the cathode assume an almost constant potential.
The negative potential often required for grid control is expediently obtained by connecting an ohmic resistance k to the cathode, the other end of which is connected to the star point of the Exciter anodes feeding transformer is connected and from which the negative control voltage is taken. Limiting resistors are denoted by i.
Instead of grids as a potential source, any other insulated metal parts provided within the rectifier can be used just as well. As Fig. 2 shows, the isolated metal parts serving as a potential source can also be assigned to an auxiliary rectifier separate from the valve containing the controllable grid. In Fig. 2, a shows a mercury vapor valve with the anode b, the cathode c and the control grid d. The auxiliary rectifier is denoted by a1.
This has three anodes ei to ez, which are fed from the transformer f . The grids g, to g, assigned to the anodes are conductively connected and via the switch h to the control grid d </ B > on closed. The cathodes c and ei of the main and auxiliary rectifiers are electrically connected. lo is the resistance that supplies the negative potential.
With the devices described, the excitation current of a rectifier is used not only, as before, to generate the rectifier, but also as a power source for controlling the grid of the main anodes.
Instead of the grids gl, g2, g. , the housing of the auxiliary rectifier which is insulated from the cathode ci can also be used as an auxiliary power source, with the advantage that the insulated installation of the Grid and the isolated implementation of the control line "", through which the housing of the auxiliary rectifier2 is omitted.
