Description

Device on battery ignition devices to reduce radio interference. It is known that the ignition system of internal combustion engines causes considerable interference when receiving wireless messages, especially when both systems have to work in close proximity to each other. This is particularly noticeable in aircraft. All parts of the ignition system are therefore shielded from the radiation of interference waves by a well-grounded, highly conductive metallic coating.

Special measures must be taken when the battery is ignited, because the other current collectors connected to it are also connected to the ignition system via the battery and therefore high-frequency vibrations can be transmitted to them, as tests have confirmed. The battery cable and thus the battery are therefore expediently protected against vibrations by, according to the invention, connecting the ignition coil to ground via a capacitor at its battery-side end, where the series resistor is also located, and using the series resistor as a high-frequency choke at the same time .

This arrangement means that most of the high-frequency vibrations coming out of the coil are diverted to ground via the capacitor, while the rest is completely consumed in the series resistor, which acts as a high-frequency choke in its usual design. The circuit saves a special choke.

In the drawing, an embodiment example of the subject invention is given again.

The entire ignition system is housed in a metal shell 1 which is closed on all sides and connected to ground. The ignition coil 2 is located in this shell. This is expediently placed in a grounded metal housing 11 together with the capacitor 5. This prevents high-frequency waves from escaping on the line from the capacitor to the coil. The battery-side end 4 of the primary coil is connected to the grounded metal housing 11 via the capacitor 5. The usual connec tion lines go from the ignition coil to the interrupter 3, the series resistor 7 and the distributor 9, from which the ignition cables lead to the spark plugs 10.

The connecting lines and the ignition cables are laid in metal hoses which form part of the metal shell 1. The series resistor 7, which is located between the primary coil and the battery cable 6 of the battery 8, has both an ohmic and an inductive effect due to this arrangement. Its inductive effect favors the dissipation of high-frequency electrical waves via the capacitor 5 to ground.
