La fig. 1 montre une vue générale en perspective de l'arrangement du harnache ment de parachute; La fig. 2 est une vue en élévation de face du dispositif d'attachement et de dégagement immédiat; Les fig. '3 et 4 sont des coupes selon les lignes 3-3 et 4-4 des fig. 2 et 5; La fig. 5 est une vue partiellement en coupe selon la ligne 5-5 de la fig. 4 et par tiellement en élévation, et La fig. 6 représente un détail;
Perfected parachute harness. The present invention relates to an improved parachute harness and relates to a very simple and effective harness which the wearer can easily disengage when he wishes.
The harness according to the invention carries two straps for supporting the main weight, said straps forming two loops in which the wearer can sit, a loop for the legs through which at least one of the aforementioned straps passes so to securely hold the legs of the wearer, and an attachment device having a single release member, a device uniting the parts of the harness on the wearer's chest.
One of the aforementioned loops in which the wearer can sit could, for example, pass over the wearer's back and the other pass in front of them. These loops can be connected to each other. the other by any desired crossings. The buckle parts passing in front of the wearer are connected by means of the single release organ attachment device, so that the wearer can instantly get rid of the harness. For this purpose, the rising parts of the buckle passing in front the carrier can be interrupted and the four free ends can be joined to the aforementioned device.
The two loops in which the wearer can sit are preferably sewn together at the seat part and the ends of the leg loop can also be sewn or otherwise fastened to that part of the seat. seat. Any two parts going up in front of the wearer can pass through the leg loop, so that each leg is securely wrapped around and, as soon as the wearer's weight is supported by the harness, the side parts of the harness tend to fall. separate so that the wearer is held firmly.
The straps are preferably long enough to allow adjustment of the harness on wearers of different sizes. For this purpose, the loops in which the wearer can sit may be connected by means of the adjustable loops to the parts passing over the shoulders of the wearer.
The straps or bands of the harness which pass over the back of the wearer may be connected across the back by one or more straps or bands sewn to these first bands and the straps passing in front of the wearer may be connected in the same way, if desired.
The harness according to the present invention can be used with parachutes in package of a suitable type, for example of a so-called "seat", knee "," back "or" chest "type.
The single attachment device mentioned above for securing the harness according to the invention may consist of any member which can engage rings, eyes, etc., attached to the ends of the straps or bands which form the loops. mentioned above of the harness. Said eyes can be engaged by pistons or resilient latches and can be released all at once, if desired, by means of a single control device. Apart from the means for preventing this unintended operation, other means can be provided which prevent the eyes from reattaching after being released once.
The appended drawing shows, by way of example, two embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 shows a general perspective view of the arrangement of the parachute harness; Fig. 2 is a front elevational view of the immediate attachment and release device; Figs. '3 and 4 are sections along lines 3-3 and 4-4 of Figs. 2 and 5; Fig. 5 is a partially sectional view taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 4 and partially in elevation, and FIG. 6 shows a detail;
Fig. 7 is a view of a modification, partially in section along line 7-7 of FIG. 8 and partially in elevation; Fig. 8 is a view, partially in section along line 8-8 of FIG. 7 and partially in elevation, and FIG. 9 is a section taken along line 9-9 of FIG. 7.
The harness according to FIG. 1 com carries two straps 1. and 2, in the shape of a U, one placed in the other at the. part of the seat forming a loop in which the wearer can sit. The belt 2 'passes in front of the wearer and is interrupted for the insertion of a detachment device, described below. Then the strap 2. passes over the shoulders of the wearer and leads to the parachute to which the free ends 3 of the strap 2 are attached. The belt 1 passes behind the wearer and above his shoulders by loops 16 and 17 threaded through the belt 2 at this location.
The belt 1 is then folded back and also attached to the para: fall by means of its free ends 4. The two branches of the belt 1 are linked again across the wearer's back by belts 5 and 6, the last of these cross members being able to be adjusted vertically so that the two rising parts of the strap 1 pass behind the shoulders. The belt 2 is interrupted, but its parts are united by means of an immediate attachment and detachment device 7.
These parts pass in front of the shoulders and outwardly along the legs, thus forming a cross on the wearer's chest. In addition, two straps 8 and 9 provided for the legs are attached at 10 and 11 to the part forming the seat, and at 121 (fig. 2) to the central attachment and detachment device. immediately, so that they pass internally along the legs and externally to the belt 2. By tightening the belt 2, the leg belts bend outwards by the weight acting on the belt 2 and do not wind. not harm the wearer.
The straps 8 and 9 for the legs, according to the embodiment shown, are formed by a single continuous strip attached to the central device 7, a reinforcing piece 13 being fixed to said strip. According to a modified form not shown, the belts 8 and 9 may be separate bands, the upper ends of which will be fixed to the device 7. In yet another embodiment, the belts 8 and 9 could be in one piece, which is not would not necessarily be attached to the device 7. In the latter case, the device 7 can be permanently fixed to one of the parts of the belt 2 or it can be completely separated from the harness.
The straps 1 and 2 are sewn together at their lower parts, so that a loop or a seat is formed for the wearer. This part of the belts is designated by the reference sign 15 in FIG. 1.
It will be noted that the harness could be adjusted to different sizes of wearers by adjusting loops 16 and 17 along the upper parts of strap 2, because in this way the parts of strap 1 passing over the wearer's shoulders can be moved closer or further from the seat 15.
1.8 is a seat plate and 19 is the envelope of a "seat" type parachute to which the seat plate is attached. The parts 15 of the belts pass between the seat plate and the casing. 20 is a back plate which may be provided with buttresses 21, so that the harness is supported, to facilitate attachment and detachment. Although the arrangement shown in fig. 1 is combined with a parachute of the,> seat "type, the harness can be used with any type of parachute.
Figs. 2-9 show the central immediate attachment and detachment device which comprises a metal box 22, in which the separate pistons 23 with springs 28 are nested. These pistons can engage with the eyes 21 of the four parts of the belt 2 by pushing. the eyes in annular grooves or notches 25 or another shape of the box, and can be released simultaneously by operating a member 26 which activates all the pistons (fig. 2-9) or by pressing on one of the walls notch in the box (this is not shown in the drawing).
In the embodiment shown in fig. 2-6, the device with four pistons 23, provided with springs, which are. arranged in the corners of the box 22, which is hollow at one end and has an annular notch 25 at the other end. The piston, are in the. hollow part of the box, so that their outer ends extend through the annular notch 25 and terminate against a flange 27 forming a wall of the size. The pistons are hollow and provided with springs 28, leaf or coil, which press the upper ends against the flange 27.
These upper ends of the pistons are inclined towards the axes of the pistons thus allowing, by introducing the eyes 24 of the rings, that the latter push them back and slide over the pistons. When the pistons rise again, the eyes are locked in the box of the central device. The interior of the box is accessible by unscrewing the screws 30 of the plate 29 which is on the side of the box opposite to that on the flange 27.
The cross-shaped plate 31 is mounted in the center of the box and is linked with its hub or center to the rod 32 of a central pressure button 26. The plate 31 and the rod 32 are fixed or screwed to the pressure button. Zion by means of a bolt 33 and a nut 34. Wrenches may also be employed to prevent relative rotation of these parts. The push button shank is driven through a central hole in the box, and the plate 31 engages the flanges 35 at the inner ends of the pistons, all in such a way that by pushing back the push button 26, the plate drives the flanges. four pistons together and that the eyes of the belts can be removed from the central device.
To prevent accidental discharge of the pressure button, its rod is provided on its outer surface with an L-shaped notch 36.
This notch has two perpendicular arms, the longest of which represents an arc of 90 and the other is parallel to the axis of the rod and is terminated by a radial hole 37 (fig. 6). A trigger 38, provided with a spring and enclosed in a box 39 integral with the box 22, sinks into the notch 36 and cooperates with the latter, so that the pressure button 26 must first be turned. 90 before we can turn it back.
After having pushed back the pressure button, the trigger sinks into the hole 37 and thus prevents the button 26, 1a. plate 31 and pistons 23 return to their initial position under the action of springs 28 until the trigger is withdrawn. To remove it, the trigger has a rod coming out of the box and which is provided with a head 41 with which the trigger can be withdrawn against the action of its spring. This arrangement ensures that the pistons 23, once pushed back, can no longer rise and engage the eyes again.
The bottom of the notch 36 is rectangular and is located in a plane perpendicular to the axis of the pressure button (Fig. 4). Thus, a certain effort is necessary to overcome the action of the trigger spring, if one wants to turn the pressure knob to lock it or unlock it.
42 are cylindrical pieces placed in the notch 25 and threaded over the screws 30. These pieces serve to guide the eyes 24 when they are attached.
In order to prevent the pistons 23 from rotating in their guide holes, their rods bear flattened parts 43 which correspond to the bifurcated parts of the plate 31.
In another embodiment of the central positive device, shown in FIGS. 7 to 9, the pistons 23 are fixed to or made integrally with the plate 31 which is supported by a leaf spring 44. The plate, pistons and spring are in the square box 22. Bumps 45 protruding of the interior part of the box carry a plate 46 which forms one wall of the annular notch, the other wall of which is formed by the box. Plate 46 is secured to the box by means of screws 47. A push button 26 has a shank screw 48, which is guided through a hole in plate 46.
A head 49 provided at the inner end of the rod 48 prevents the button 26 from being withdrawn from the plate 46 and serves as a buffer by means of which the central part of the plate 3-1 can be acted on.
When a butt 24 of a belt is inserted into the notch 25, so that the piston 23 is forced back, the plate 31 tilts and allows the eye to slide over the piston, which, returning to her. initial position, blocks 1 '# i1 in the central device.
By pushing back the pressure button 26, the pistons are also pushed back by releasing the eyes, and a trigger 50 provided with a res comes out and provided in the box sinks into a radial hole 51 of the plate 31, which is rusty worm in this position until the trigger 50 is pulled out using a head 52.
To prevent accidental actuation of the push button, a bifurcated and resilient safety clip 'S3 with a handle 54 may be inserted between the outer surface of the plate 46 and the inner surface of the push button. The elastic clip can be inserted or removed by lateral movement with respect to the shank of the press stud and be prevented from turning on the latter by the handle which is inserted into a radial notch 55 of the case. Instead of adopting this device for locking the button 26, a device similar to that described with reference to FIGS. 2 to 6.
In another embodiment, it is possible, instead of using a cross-shaped plate and a pressure button to force the pistons, attach a threaded rod @ to the flange 27, respectively 46, screwing into the center of the piston. box. By turning said flange, the latter axially leaves the ends of the pistons and the eyes of the belts become free from the outer ends of the pistons. These eyes are raised above the aforesaid ends by means of a shoulder of the aforementioned threaded rod.
This shoulder is normally flush with the flange forming the outer wall of the notches 25, that is to say that the wall touches the upper ends of the pistons. The rod can be hollow and guided by a central pin fixed to the removable bottom of the box and this pin can have a stop to limit the wise unscrewing of the rod.
In all the embodiments according to the present invention, the central device may have at its box or at the removable bottom 29, a hooking member 56 with at least one notch 57 in which the straps for the legs are hooked, for the In this case, the latter would not be attached to the central device in a detachable manner.
It is obvious that the details and the arrangements of the harness and of the three central devices described can be modified without departing from the scope of the invention.
