Liquid dispenser. Dan: known distributors meeting the prescriptions of the decrees of the Ministry of Commerce. decrees requiring that a capacity iie then: sc- be filled if it has not been completely emptied beforehand and cannot be emptied if it has not. not been completely fulfilled, these conditions are ensured by indirect locking of the valve, either by immobilizing its moving part by means of a ratchet, or by driving the drive lever crazy.
These worms: or disengages are actuated by floats, pressure or vacuum membranes or by a combination of these means.
These devices are fragile and subject to disturbances blocking the device or no longer meeting the requirements.
The object of the present invention is to avoid these drawbacks; its object is a liquid tributor comprising a container, gauged inside which the liquid to. distributor is first forced back in order to then be emptied, using a piston arranged in this container, distributor characterized in that a mechanical locking device acting on the intake and emptying control means is actuated by the liquid level inside the calibrated container, by means of the piston.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, a form of execution of this distributor, as well as variants.
The fi-. 1 shows a dispenser in side view and in vertical section; Fig. 2 shows the appliance from the front in vertical section; The, fig. 3i is a detail section through '3-3 of FIG. 2; Figs. 4 and 4a are sections through 4-4 of FIG. 2 for the two angular positions. The support or base 1 comprises a wooden bucket 2 provided with a central opening of frustoconical shape on which rests the nut 3 integral with the capacity or rotary gauged container 4.
This container journals at its. upper part in a part 5 mounted in the arm 6 of the base 1, part 5 which contains the locking device which will be. described below.
At its lower part, the nut 3 ends with a rod 7 which passes through the bushel 2 and which has, on the outside, a part 8 of square section on which is threaded the key 9 provided with a lever 9a serving rotating the gauged container 4 on its bearings 2 and 5. The lever 9a passes through a circular groove made in the cover 11.
The rod 7 serves as a guide. a spring 7a held by a nut 7b and ensuring a tight application of the nut 3 on the plug 9- A la. upper part of the container 41 is formed an opening 13 of square or polygonal section, in which the rod 14 of the same section can slide. This rod 14 is extended by a pulley 15 carrying a pinion 16 combined with a gear and freewheel system 17 controlling a counter.
On the rod 14-15 is fixed a lock 18 provided with a certain number of teeth 18a penetrating into notches 5b made in the part 5 (FIG. 3). The teeth and the notches are naturally combined with each other, so that the locking can be achieved for them. two angular positions of the container 4 which correspond respectively to the filling and to. emptying.
In the example shown, the lock has two teeth 18a and the part 5 has four notches 5b at right angles to each other, so that the two positions: ends of the reservoir 4 being set at 90 one of the other, locking can be achieved for these two positions.
Two springs 19 and 20 bearing respectively on the faces of the lock, on the bearing surface 5a of the part 5 and the upper part of the reservoir 4, ensure the locking, that is to say the introduction and the keeping teeth in the notches, from. that the. rod 14-l5 is abandoned at. herself.
The rod 14 has at its lower part a rim 21 forming a stop, on which rests one of the ends of a telescopic tube 22 fixed at its other end on the piston 23, moving in the container 4.
When the piston is at its top dead center (fig. 2), the whole of the folded telescopic tube is placed in a housing 4a provided at the upper part of the container 4 and the central boss 23a of the piston, abutting against the end of the. rod 14, determines the upward displacement of this rod and, consequently, the lifting of the teeth 18a out of the notches 5b, which makes it possible to turn the container 4 using the operating key 9.
The capacity adjustment is provided by a rod passing through the rod 15 and being able to be adjusted in said rod.
When the piston is at its bottom dead center, the end of the unfolded telescopic tube abuts against the flange 21 and determines the lowering of the rod 14 to. against the spring 20, thus also releasing the snap.
The plug 2 comprises in its mass a pipe 26 or drain pipe, a pipe 27 at right angles to the first and connected to a pipe 28 plunging: in the tank see 2.8a containing the liquid to. distribute, a third tubing 29 connected to a compressed air tank, not shown, which tank see is also connected by 29a to the upper part of the tank 28a and a fourth tube 33 which, at the time of switching on filling position, is in front of the opening of channel 31,
thus allowing the evacuation of the air expelled by the rise of the piston.
The nut 3 comprises an angled channel 30 (fig. 2), the lower horizontal part of which can be placed, by rotation of said nut in front of the pipes 26- or 27 and the upper vertical part of which opens into the container 4. This nut also comprises a channel 31, the lower opening of which can be placed vis-à-vis the pipe 29 or the pipe. 33.
The operation -de this distributor is as follows: we first assume the container 4 empty and the piston 23 a. its bottom dead center, at this moment the action of the latch 18 is suppressed, due to the fact: that the teeth 18 are lowered outside the notches 5b and the container 4 can be placed by rotation of the key 9, in one either of its extreme positions at 90. If it is placed in the position shown in the fi. 1 and 4 or wise filling position, the compressed air enters through 29a into the tank 28a and delivers the liquid 28-27 and 30 inside the container 4.
The piston 23 then begins to rise and the rod 14-15 obeying the action of the spring 20 which is compressed, rises. The teeth 182 engage in the notches 5b and a very short time after the start of filling the container 4, the lock is. blocked making it impossible to rotate this container during wise filling.
Filling continues until the piston 23 reaches its top dead center (fig. 2). At this moment, the piston pushes the rod 14 upwards, determining the release of the teeth 18a from the corresponding notches. The container 4 can then be rotated so ù. place it in the position of emptying the fi-. 2 and 4a. The tubing 27 is isolated from the reservoir which communicates via 30 with the. drain pipe 26.
In addition, the channel d1 has come opposite the pipe 29 and the compressed air entering through 32 above the piston 23 determines the lowering of the latter and the discharge of the liquid through the drain pipe. the piston has started to descend, the teeth of the ratchet have entered the corresponding notches and any rotation of the tank 4 before total emptying is thus prevented. To be able to perform this rotation, it will be necessary to wait until the piston has reached its bottom dead center.
It goes without saying that modifications of detail can be made to the dispenser which has just been described, without departing from the scope of the invention.
In particular, the delivery of the piston 23 instead of being operated by compressed air, can be performed automatically by a spring 33a, shown in dotted lines on the. fig. 1, compressed during the rise of the piston and which relaxes as soon as an outlet is offered to the liquid. It is also possible to combine the two delivery modes. This variant has the additional advantage of preventing, during emptying, fraud which could result from the premature stopping of the admission of compressed air to the pump. 'inside the container 4.
We will now describe other variations of the distributor.
Fig. 5 is an axial section of the upper part of the dispenser, showing a variant embodiment of the sliding lock; Fig. 6 is. large-scale cutting; Figs. "(, 8 and 9 are respectively sections through 7-7, 8-8 and 9-9 of fig. 6; Fig. 10 is a section through 10-10 of fig. 8; Figs. 11 and 12 show in elevation and in profile a toothed sector, Fig. 1.3, 13a, 13b show on a large scale an alternative embodiment of the distributor.
These figures have been separated from each other for the convenience of drawing, but in reality they must be joined together, fig. 13a superimposed on FIG. 13 and fig. 13b being placed next to FIG. 13.
Figs. 14 and 1.5 show in schematic elevation and in sectional plan a mechanism serving to hide the meter during emptying.
In the embodiment of the locking device shown in FIGS. 5 to 12, the lock 18 has only one tooth 18a which can engage in one of the two notches 5b arranged at right angles and formed in an internal shoulder of the part 5. These two notches are joined! upper and lower parts by two quarter-circle grooves 5c allowing the rotation of the tooth 18a of the latch 18, when the latter is raised, the container being completely full, or lowered, the container being completely empty.
This lock is integral, on the one hand, with a hollow rod 15 located at the. upper part and carrying the pinion 16 actuating the counter and, on the other hand, at the lower part, a square part 14 sliding in the opening 13. Replacing the telescopic tube 22 of FIGS. 1 and 2, and sliding: inside the hollow rod 14-15 is arranged a rod 34 fixed, on the one hand, to the piston 23 and provided, on the other hand, with a head 34a maintained in any case appropriate.
When the container 4 is full, the head of the rod 34 abuts against the upper bottom of the hollow rod 15 and lifts the red worm, while at the end of the emptying, the head 34a abuts against a provided shoulder 15a. in the hollow rod and lower the assembly.
The lock is also provided with two pawls 35 and 36 oscillating around the same axis 37 and biased one and the other in opposite directions by springs 38. These pawls are oriented in the opposite direction and one of them â5 engages, in the low position of the red worm with a toothed sector 39.
The other pawl 36 engages with another sector 40 in the high position of the latch, that is to say when the reservoir 4 is full.
The toothed sectors. are provided with passage holes 41 for fixing screws 42. As soon as a pawl is engaged, the latch 18 and with it the gauged capacity can only rotate in one direction. It is thus not possible to go back and it is necessary to complete the movement of rotation of the gauged capacity so that the tooth 18a is in front of one of the two notches 5b.
This avoids the frauds which could have occurred with the device of FIGS. 1 to 3 since in this device it was possible, for example, for emptying not to completely complete the rotational movement of the calibrated capacity, so that the rusting worm does not take place, but, nevertheless, by the encroachment from the edges of the openings, the liquid is distributed. In this case, of course, nothing prevented the seller from stopping the emptying before it was completed and the buyer was prejudiced.
The same remarks apply to filling. The variant embodiment shown in FIGS. 13 to 15 comprises different improvements which will be presented.
In these figures, the same members are designated by the same reference numerals as in FIGS. 1 to 12.
The piston 23 moves inside the measuring container 4 under the action of compressed air, driving with it the rod 34 which is provided at its upper part with a stop 34a of adjustable position and formed, in the 'example represented, by a nut and a' ontre-nut. The stop 34a moves inside the part 14 having a square section on the outside and passing through the opening 13, also square, of the upper part of the container 4.
The part 14 carries a lock 18 provided, as described with reference to FIGS. 5 to 12, a tooth 18a which can be engaged in one or the other of two notches 5b arranged in the fixed part 5, at 90 from each other. The part 14 carrying the worm 18 is subjected, as above, to the action of two springs 19 and 20, the actions of which balance each other and which normally maintain the tooth 18a engaged in one or the other of the notches 5b. The lock 18 is further provided with two pawls 35 and 36 pivoting about the axis 37 as described with reference to FIGS. 5 to 8.
In order to avoid air leaks, the rotary container 4 and 4 have been placed at the joint. of the. part 5 integral with the frame 1, a crimped leather 4a which is held pressed against the wall of part 5 by a coil spring 4b. The downward movement of the lock at the end of the downward stroke of the piston is determined by abutment of the nuts 34a of the rod 34 against the lower edge 21 of the part 14 and the upward movement of this lock is determined. at the end of the. upward stroke of the udder by stopper of part 50, screwed to the center of said piston, against the lower part of part 14.
The part 50 comprises in its mass channels 51 communicating with a chamber 52 containing a ball valve 53 and in relation itself by the channel 54 with another chamber 55 containing another ball valve 56. The ball 56. rests on a small cylinder 57 grooved on the outside and integral with a float 59. The float 59, enclosed in a chamber 58 of the piston 23 is guided vertically on a rod 60 integral with a spider 61 screwed to the lower part of the piston 23 .
The channels and the float allow tent at the beginning of the filling of the container 4, that is to say at the start of the upward stroke of the piston 23, the expulsion of the air which could be located under the underside of this piston. . This air passes into chamber 58 and from there, through the grooves of cylinder 57, into chamber 55. It then passes around ball 56, into channel 54, into chamber 52 and escapes from there, through channels 51, above the piston, from which it can reach the open air through the tube 32 and a tube (not shown), integral with the fixed plate 2a and which, in the filling position of the receptacle 4 is in face of tubing 32.
It will be noted that the valve is constituted in this example by two perposed plates 3a and 2a of which one of them, the lower plate 2a, is fixed on the frame, while the other, the plate 3a, is integral of the receptacle 4. These trays comprise the same pipes as the plug 2 and the nut 3 shown in FIGS. 1 to 4.
In fig. 13 to. 13b, 29 designates the pipe connected to the compressed air container and 26 the discharge pipe which carries at its end a small valve 26a loaded by the spring 26u and forming a drip cutter at the end of the discharge stroke of the piston 23, the tubing 2,6 thus remaining filled with liquid. The plates 2a and 3a are kept applied one against the other, using a spring 7a compressed between the ring 7 >> wedged on the rod 7, itself integral with the plate 3a and the part lower plate 2a.
This embodiment further comprises a counter arranged such that it is armed during filling, that is to say when the piston 23 rises and is actuated definitively at the end of the emptying, c ' that is to say when the piston 23 has reached its lowest position. Instead of being placed at the top of the device, as in the case of fig. 1 to 4, this counter is enclosed in a housing 74 fixed to the lower part of the frame.
A rod 62 is arranged inside the pro longement 7 of the plate 3a. This rod can slide freely in this extension 7 as well as in a slider 63 provided at the lower part of the frame. The seal on the side of the container is ensured by a suitable seal 62a.
On this rod 62 is mounted a pulley-groove 65 against which rests a spring 64 tending to keep the rod 62 raised, so that it protrudes slightly inside the container 4 above the tray 3a. This rod is stopped in this position by a collar 66. The grooved pulley 65 controls the movement of a double lever 67 pivoting at 68 on a support 69 integral with the frame.
At its end opposite the pulley 65, the lever 67 carries a pawl 70 subjected to the action of a spring 71 and controlling a ratchet 72 mounted on the axis 7 3 of the meter.
The operation of this counter is as follows: When the piston rises, at the start of filling, the rod 62 which was hitherto kept lowered is pushed upwards by the spring 64 and the pawl 70 pivots in the opposite direction to the. arrow Fl, thus arming the counter recording mechanism, which is triggered when the piston again reaches its lowest position, that is to say at the end of emptying.
We have seen above that the locking device prevents the measuring vessel from being emptied, as long as this vessel is not completely full and the filling is carried out before the emptying. is not fully completed. However, a fraudster could complete the complete filling of the measuring container and somewhat drain this container before the customer arrives; the latter would therefore not receive the full capacity of the dispensing container. To avoid this fraud, a cover mechanism has been combined with the counter, which hides the dial of said counter as soon as the device is in the emptying position.
The meter can only be seen by the customer when the measuring vessel is completely emptied. This position avoids the risk of fraud indicated above, as the informed customer will always demand to see the meter dial before the device is put into operation. It will thus be certain that the container is completely emptied and that the seller will be obliged to supply him with the entire contents of the measuring container.
This cover device is thus constructed (fig. 14 and 15). The partial drum of the counter, which alone is of interest in this case, is arranged in a special circular case 74a adjoining the case 74 of the totalizing drums of the counter. Rings 76 can freely pivot on the axis 78 of the partial drum by means of arms 77, a cover 78 which can be placed in front of the window 79 by pi voting around the axis 73.
A lever 80 integral with one of the arms 77 is provided with a buttonhole 86, in which engages a lug 82 carried by a part 83, sliding in the frame. The part 83 is guided by a rod -84 fixed to the frame 74 of the meter and is applied by the spring 84a against a ron delle 85 wedged on the extension 7 integral with the plate 3a. The washer 85 carries two er gots 86a with which the sliding part 83 is in contact.
In fig. 14 and 15, it has been assumed that the dispenser device is in the emptying position and the cover then completely hides the window 79. As soon as the emptying is complete and the distributor is placed in the filling position, the extension 7 and, consequently, the washer 85 undergoes a pivoting of 90 in the direction of the arrow and the window of the partial counter is unmasked.
