Automatic winding device for clock. The present invention relates to an automatic winding device for a weight clock, in which a cam, driven by the transmission train ending in the regulating member, determines the closing of the circuit of a motor connected by transmission to the wheel. on which the tension t acts. a flexible organ supporting the ur ;; iûs. This device is characterized in ç - that it comprises a rocker -which port:
. a mercury contact tube of a known fvpc, in which the mercury can, depending on the position of the rocker, cover two terminals of the motor circuit, or discover at least one of them, rocker which further has -de pipe flanks intended to cooperate on the one hand with a rocker lever capable of maintaining it in the position for which the circuit is cut, but which abandons it when it is moved by the aforesaid cam -and d on the other hand with a weight-strained organ reaching the top of its stroke.
The accompanying drawing represents, to. by way of example, one embodiment of the object of the invention. Fig. 1 is a schematic view of: say positive, FIG. 2 an external view on a smaller scale of the movement of the clock to which it applies, and fig. 3 a vertical iceupe following A-B of the fi--. 2.
The base 1 supports the plates 2a, 2b and 2c of the frame, connected at the top by the crossbar 3, by means of screws 4. The shaft 5 is integral with a wheel 6 and carries a wheel 7 idler on it the grooves of which have .des imprints intended to receive the links of an endless chain 10. This chain passes over a movable pulley 11 to the yoke of which a weight 12 is suspended. The wheel 6 transmits the traction exerted by this weight to an idle wheel 8 on the shaft, this by the intermediary of a ratchet, not shown, and this wheel 8 is prevented from rotating backwards by another pawl, not shown, mounted on the plates 2a and 2b. A wheel 9, loose on the shaft, is connected to the wheel 8 by a res out as is usual.
The train of the gear train and the exhaust is arranged, for example, between the plates 2a and 2b and that of the ringing between the plates 2b and 20. The wheel 9 actuates the unrepresented train of the escapement train and the wheel 13 , integral with the wheel 7, that of its nerie. A motor 14 -is connected by a speed reduction mechanism 15 and a chain 16 to a toothed wheel 17 integral with the wheel 6.
One of the shafts of the exhaust train passes through the plate 2b and carries the wheel 18 connected by a spring 20 to an idle cam 19 on its shaft. This spring is constantly reinforced by the fact that the wheel 18 carries a pin 21 engaged in an arcuate groove 22 of the cam. Rods 23 and 28 (Fig. 1) are -disposed vertically and guided in -bushings or slides @ designated respectively by 24 and 32. Rods 23 and 28 respectively carry the first at its upper end, the second at its lower end,, levers 25 and 29.
Movable weights 26 and 30 determine, by their positions, the distances to their axes of the centers & gravity of these levers which are maintained in substantially horizontal positions by the stops 27 and 31. The things are arranged so that the lever 25, while rising, meets the lever 29. The rod 28 carries a finger 33 intended to meet the pegs 34 which the cam 19 carries. A lever 35 is arranged so as to be actuated by the periphery in spiral of this cam, and has an arm which ren against a lever 36 with hook. The centers of gravity of levers 35 and 36 are out of the axes so that gravity provides an opposing force.
A cam 37 and a lever 3: 8 integral, are movable about an axis parallel to those of the aforementioned levers. On the rocker 38 is fixed a tube cutting .circuit 39à mercury, .of a known type. The terminals! Of this tube are connected by: flexible conductor cords 40 to two terminals interposed in the circuit @of the electric motor 14. An arm 41 can carry a movable mass allowing the lever arm to be adjusted for gravity. acting on the center of motion of the assembly, which center remains to the left of the axis in the example shown. Stubborn. 43 limits the movement of this in one direction.
The operation of the device is as follows: The wheel 9,. under the action of the weight 12. maintains the oscillations of a pendulum not shown which ends the train @du mauve ment itself. The speed of the shaft on which the wheel 18 is stalled and the number of teeth of the cam are chosen so that one of the teeth of the cam is presented to the lever 25 before the weight 12 is released. come to the bottom of his race. The speed of the wheel 18 being uniform, the lever 35 is periodically raised by the cam 19, so that the effects of its release, that is to say the reassembly of the weight are not directly caused by this - latest.
In the position occupied by the organs in FIG. 1, the cam 37 is hooked to the lever 36 and the mercury of the tube 39 is in the part of the tube in which it cannot put the two terminals of the circuit in communication. When the lever 35 is raised, it in turn raises the lever 36 which drops the assembly 37-.38 by the amount permitted by the stop 43. The sea cure then bathes the two terminals of the circuit, the motor 14 is sets in motion as well as the train 15, 16, 17, which has the effect of raising the mass 12. When .this arrives at the top of its travel, it abuts. against the rod 23.
The lever 25 meets the lever 29 and transmits to it a force whose value is limited to that of the quotient of the moment of gravity 'applied to the lever 25, by the distance from the point of contact to the axis of this lever . The masses 26 and 30 are adjusted so that the force thus defined is sufficient for the rod 28 to be able to lift the support of the tube 39.
At the instant of triggering, the lever 35 is very close to falling from the top of a tooth of the cam into the hollow, so that when the finger 33 abuts against the pin 34 and the rocker 38 is located returned to the position shown, there occurs a bending of the spring 20 and a movement of the cam 19 made possible by the groove 23. The lever 35 drops and lets the lever 36 come to hook the cam 37 for 1a. hand hold ready to trigger.
After breaking the circuit, the motor continues to rotate by the effect of its kinetic energy, so that the rod 2.8 continues to rise, but the spring 20 opposes an increasing resistance to the rise of the rod 28, and this could also meet a stop. This resistance ends up being greater than the driving force of the lever 25. The latter then rotates around its axis so as to pass beyond the lever 29, which allows the rod 23 to -c. accompany the weight 1.2 until the motor stops, and to the rod 28 to fall back, letting the rocker 38 lower until the cam 37 meets the hook H .
The rod 23 is made heavy enough so that, by its weight, it can lift the weight 30 so that the lever 2'5 re passes under the lever 29 when the weight 12 is lowered again. 'a sufficient height.
The same functions are repeated when the next tooth of the cam lifts lever 3.5 again. This lever could be omitted and the hook lever could be moved directly by the cam.
The antagonistic forces of various organs are here supplied by gravity, but could be supplied by springs.
The motor can be connected to the chain wheel 17 by means of a magnetic clutch. For example, the wheel 44 (FIG. 4) carries on its shaft the electro-magnetic block 45 on the rings of which the brushes 45 'of a bypass taken on the circuit of the motor rub. The frame 46 carries the wheel 47 connected to the. wheel 17.
The device can be applied to a clock having a mechanism for the. quarter hour strike and a distinct engine weight activating this mechanism. This weight can either be connected directly to the. wheel 47 if the wheel 44 is directly connected to the wheel 17 or, in the aforementioned case, be connected to the armature 40 of a second magnetic clutch 48_ The brushes 48 'bringing the current to this clutch are then connected to a mercury cut-out tube included in a second branch .du circuit .du engine.
This circuit breaker is usually in the position in which this bypass is closed, so that the operating weight of the quarter-hour strike is always raised when the cam closes the motor circuit. It cuts off said bypass itself when it reaches the top of its travel, which takes place before the main weight is fully raised.
It is obvious that these magnetic clutches make it possible to reassemble engine weights in any number. They can be either on the same shaft or on the shafts of the reduction train driven at different speeds, depending on the values of the reduction ratios required by the various problems involved.
The device may further include a third vertical rod 50 actuating any switch of the icixcuit in the event that the normal interruption has not taken place. This rod is therefore shorter than the lower rod encountered first and itself is encountered only exceptionally. The flexible cords 40 could be replaced by a brush scuttling on rings or other metal parts carried by the rocker.
