Device for the lubrication of axle bearings, in particular for rail vehicles. The present invention is based on the knowledge that in axle bearings with dripping of the steering knuckle considerable amounts of lubricant are conveyed to the steering knuckle, which are not required to form the desired uninterrupted lubricant film in the bearing surface between the steering knuckle and the bearing shell.
It has already been proposed that these quantities of lubricant be returned to the drip edge and drip off again onto the steering knuckle by appropriately designing the inner bearing surface. If, however, the amount of lubricant that is required to form the uninterrupted film of lubricant is delivered to the steering knuckle through the primary supply of the lubricant to the steering knuckle, then the secondary supply of the lubricant can only have the character of an additional safeguarding of the lubricant supply.
The capacity of the steering knuckle surface for the lubricant is limited, however, so that lubricant that reaches the steering knuckle surface partly from the primary and partly from the secondary feed via the lubricant film that adheres to this steering knuckle due to its surface tension and with revolves around the steering knuckle, flows back over unused to the lubricant supply. Egg in such a lubrication process is therefore uneconomical, since lubricant quantities are conveyed to the top of the bearing shell which are not used in their entirety.
This is where the present invention begins with the further recognition that the lubricant, in addition to its lubricating effect, has an equally important cooling function when it is supplied to the steering knuckle in the largest possible amount. Because at least part of the frictional heat is dissipated in this way, the viscosity and thus the lubricity of the lubricant, which is located between the rubbing parts, is retained to a greater degree than if the frictional heat was less or not at all would lead.
A device formed on the basis of these findings for the lubrication of axle bearings, in particular for rail vehicles, is characterized according to the invention in that a pan-shaped counter-shell for the support shell is provided below the stub axle in connection with drip points arranged above the counter-shell for supplying lubricant to the counter-shell ,
wherein the lower shell can be adjusted to a distance necessary for the formation of a film of sealing agent between the steering knuckle and the lower shell. This feed line can take place directly as well as indirectly via the axle handle. So it is the highly promoted lubricant used in its entirety, in which it is initially used for lubrication, while rend the rest is used to cool the bearing surface.
For this effect, it is irrelevant whether the actual lubrication of the steering knuckle is effected from the supporting shell or from the lower shell, because the rest of the lubricant always has its cooling effect by being caught in the lower shell and cooling the steering knuckle is fed.
The supply of the lubricant to the lower shell by dripping has the particular advantage that the lubricant reaches the lower shell in any case, regardless of the respective elevation, without having to rely on the supply line via flexible lines, articulated pipes, etc. is; Such unreliable Zuführungseinrich lines would be necessary if the lubricant of the lower shell were to be fed directly from the lubricant supply.
The drawing shows an example of an embodiment of an axle bearing provided with the lubrication device according to the invention, namely Fig. 1 shows a vertical longitudinal section through the axle bearing, while Fig. 2, in its left half, shows a vertical right cross section through the axle bearing along line II- II of Fig. 1 shows. The right half shows a front view of the axle bearing.
In both figures, 1 denotes the steering knuckle on which the upper support shell 2 rests. In addition to the upper support shell, a pan-shaped lower shell, that is to say with its bearing surface that is not concentric with the stub axle, is arranged as a counter shell to the support shell. Drip points 4 are arranged above the lower shell. These drip points are formed by .the bearing shell 2 in the form of drip edges that stretch over the entire length of the steering knuckle. A conveying element 5 rotating with the steering knuckle 1 first conveys the lubricant into the upper part of the axle bearing housing 7.
At lower speeds, it drips from the drip tips 8 of the conveyor element onto the projection 9 of the support shell 2. From the projection 9 it reaches the drip edge 4 via longitudinal grooves 10 on the top of the support shell and via the short bores 11, in order to get from this into the wedge-shaped A running spaces 12 between the lower shell 3 and Achssehkel 1..
At higher speeds, the 01 is taken from the conveyor. 5 is thrown off into the centrifugal housing part 13 of the housing 7. It then passes through the grooves provided in the centrifuge housing 14 and the drip edges 15 back onto the projection 9 to be in the manner already described, the drip edge 4 and over this into the inlet spaces 12 leads to ge.
The lubricant is therefore fed directly to the lower shell via drip points 4 arranged above the same, namely according to its total conveyed amount, so that, as a result of the peculiar excess conveyance of the conveying element 5, not only its lubricating but also its able to exert a cooling effect. By keeping the bearing surfaces cool, the viscosity and lubricity of the lubricant are retained in full. The inventive effect would, however, also occur if the drip edge were located above the steering knuckle.
In this case, only a second lubricant film formation would occur between the support shell and the steering knuckle and part of the lubricant would be consumed for this purpose, while the remainder conveyed in excess would certainly get into the wedge-shaped inlet spaces between the steering knuckle and the pan-shaped lower shell and there next to a Second lubrication brings about the desired cooling of the stub axle and thus the bearing surfaces.
Since the steering knuckle diameter changes during operation due to wear and tear and reworking, the lower shell can be adjusted to adjust the height against the steering knuckle. For this purpose, it has a recess 16 on each side, in which a wedge 17 is guided. The wedges 17 have a tab 18 bent at right angles lig on their front side. The flap contains a Bohiling 2 (# and a head screw 21 passed through it. The head screw 21 is screwed into a threaded hole 22 provided in the wall of the housing 7.
The more the head screw 21 is screwed into the housing bore 22, the more the wedge 17 is drawn into the wedge-shaped recess 16 so that the lower 21 is raised and so. can be set so that a Sehmiermittelfilm can form between it and the steering knuckle via the wedge-shaped running spaces 12. In the usual, unspecified manner who secured the screw heads 21 in the respective setting position of the lower shell 3.
The wedges 17 rest directly on the housing projections 23 so that the Ablei device of the vertical impacts on the housing is secured. A tab-like projection 24 of the lower shell 3 lies between the two housing projections 2'3 so that the axial impacts exerted on the lower shell 3 are immediately diverted to the housing 7 via these tabs 24 and via the housing projections 23.
