So kann zum Bei spiel das technische Gemisch von Cyanur- säure, Biuret, Guanylharnstoff, Guanidin usw., das durch Erhitzen von Harnstoff auf etwa<B>160</B> während 12 bis 48 Stunden er halten wird, in Form der Formaldehyd-Kon- densationsprodukte verwendet werden;
a) 2 Teile Tuchechtviolett R (Schultz, Farbstofftabellen, 7. Auflage, Bd.
Aufl., Bd.
Aufl., Bd.
Aufl., Nr. 769) und Lack I in saurer Lösung ein Farblack her gestellt.
g) 2 Teile Chrysoidiu Y (Schultz, Farb- stofftabellen, 7.
a) 2 Teile Neolanblau 2 G (Schultz, Farbstofftabellen, 7. Auflage, Bd.
a) 2 Teile Tuchechtorange G (Schultz, Farbstofftabellen, 7. Auflage, II.
<I>Beispiel</I> jr-: a) 5. Teile Neolanbordeaux (Schultz, Farbstofftabellen, 7. Auflage, 1I. Band, S.
Beispiel <I>6</I> a) Man löst 50 Teile Dimethylolharn- stoff in 100 Teilen Wasser und fügt 4 Teile Kintonechtgelb 3G (Schultz, Farbstofftabel- len, 7. Auflage, I. Band, Nr. 748) zu.
Beispiel <I>7</I> 1/2 Teil hlethylviolett 4B (Schultz, Farb- stofftabellen, 7.
<I>Beispiel 8</I> 0,25 Teile Rhodamin B (Schultz, Farb- stofftabellen, 7. Auflage, I. Band, Nr. 864) löst man in 2(.)0 Teilen heissem Wasser auf.
Dazu gibt man 1 Teil Violett 5 BO (.Schultz, Farbstofftabellen, 7.
Auflage, Band I, Nr. 785). Hierauf fügt man 7,5 Teile Weinsäure in 20 Teilen Was ser gelöst hinzu.
<I>Beispiel 10</I> 150 Teile Lack I werden in 600 Teilen heissem Wasser gelöst.
Process for the production of colored varnishes and colored varnish produced by the same. It has been found that colored lacquers can be produced if carbamide-formaldehyde condensation products, which can be cured before, during or after laking, are used as dye carriers.
The dyes that are converted into color lacquers according to the present process must have the property that they are able to form lacquers with carbamide-formaldehyde condensation products, that is to say those compounds that are sparingly or insoluble in water. Such dyes can be found, for example, among the water-soluble azo dyes, which are also in the form of their complex metal compounds, such as their chromium.
Copper or nickel compounds, furthermore among the water-soluble basic or acidic triarylmethane dyes, and finally among the water-soluble azine, thiazine, oxazine, acridine and anthraquinone dyes.
The carbamide-formaldehyde condensation products that BEZW according to the present process as laking agents. Trä ger for the dyes come into question. can be used in the form of a wide variety of condensation stages, namely in water-soluble to water-insoluble form, whereby the state of aggregation can be low or high viscosity, gelatinous or solid.
The formaldehyde condensation products of urea and urea derivatives are suitable, such as the formaldehyde products (mono- and polymeric formaldehyde) of thiourea, dicyandiamide, biuret, guanidine, guanyl urea, or of phenylurea,
and mixtures of these substances respectively. their formaldehyde condensation products with urea respectively. its formaldehyde condensation products .. The lower condensation levels are particularly suitable, as they enable you to work in aqueous solutions, which in many cases accelerates the formation of the colored varnish and is also more complete. The use of mixtures of the formaldehyde condensation products of various carbamides has proven to be very advantageous.
For example, the technical mixture of cyanuric acid, biuret, guanyl urea, guanidine, etc., which is obtained by heating urea to around <B> 160 </B> for 12 to 48 hours, can be obtained in the form of the formaldehyde Condensation products are used;
Furthermore, the glazing can advantageously also be carried out with the artificial mixtures of the formaldehyde condensation products of thiourea and urea, which mixtures contain about 5 to 2070 thiourea and 95 to 80% urea.
Finally, the lacquering can also be carried out with waste products from other areas of application of the carbamide - formaldehyde - condensation products, such as old press powder or press waste.
Laking can be carried out based on the known laking processes, for example, in such a way that the aqueous solutions of the dyes are combined with the aqueous suspensions of a heat-treated carbamide-formaldehyde condensation product at a lower or higher temperature,
or the aqueous solution of the dye can be combined with the aqueous solution or suspension of a non-heat-treated carbamide-formaldehyde condensation product, with the heat treatment being carried out by working at a higher temperature, such as 80 to 90 ' , </B> can be carried out during the laking process or only after the color coating has been deposited. If the heat treatment is carried out at the same time as the varnish,
in many cases it is advantageous to subject the separated colored varnish to another heat treatment. Often it is also advantageous to apply the lacquer in a weakly acidic medium and, if necessary, to isolate the colored lacquer from a neutral or alkaline medium after the lacquer has been applied.
In order to obtain the best possible colored lacquers, the final treatment of the carbamide-formaldehyde condensation products must be carried out carefully. Depending on the composition of the condensation product, the duration and temperature of the heat treatment can be very different; Working at 70 to about 160 and a particularly favorable temperature of about 130 to 140 'are advantageous.
The color lakes can also be produced in accordance with the present process in the presence of the additives customary in other color lake manufacture, such as, for example, aluminum hydrogen, green earth, tannic acid. Colophony, tartar emetic or fillers, such as barium sulfate, calcium sulfate, zinc oxide, zinc sulfite or titanogyd, which increase the opacity of the colored varnish, can be carried out.
The colored lacquers obtainable by the present process can be distinguished by very good water and light fastness, as well as by great luminosity. With regard to the depth of color of the colored lacquers, there are much greater possibilities than with the known processes. For example, while most concentrated green earth paints contain around 11% dye, the color lakes obtainable by the present process can contain 25% and more dye.
Furthermore, the density of the color lakes available is about 1.4 compared to 2.8 for the green earth, 2.4 for the aluminum hydrogen and 4.4 for the barium sulfate lacquers. As a result of this low density, the paints produced by the present process do not settle so easily when they are used for oil paints or similar purposes.
The paints obtainable by the present process can be used, for example, as dyes for oil paints, varnishes, linoleum, and also for the production of printing colors, for example for the graphic industry, for paper printing or for wallpaper printing. be used.
Example <I> 1: </I> A carbamide-formaldehyde product of a medium condensation stage is prepared as follows: 600 parts of urea are dissolved in 1620 parts of 37% by weight formaldehyde, approximately 80 parts of Norit Supnos (an active filter carbon) in the The solution is suspended and the mixture is filtered. The water-clear solution has a pH value of around 7. It is then heated to <B> 100 '</B> for 8 hours in a closed vessel.
The somewhat thick, water-clear liquid can easily be diluted with 1 to 3 parts of water, but becomes cloudy with further dilution.
7.5 parts of finely powdered thiourea are dissolved in 100 parts of the above solution at a moderate temperature = lacquer I.
a) 2 parts of cloth fast violet R (Schultz, color tables, 7th edition, vol. II, p. 222) are dissolved in 500 parts of water at about 80, and 100 parts of lacquer I are added with thorough stirring and then 5 parts by volume of hydrochloric acid dissolved in 20 parts of water are mixed with the solution. After a few minutes, the urea resin begins to separate. The mixture is stirred well while maintaining the temperature of 80.
The dye is quickly absorbed by the soft, quark-like precipitate. After the dyebath is almost exhausted, the mixture is cooled while stirring. The precipitate is filtered off with suction, a colorless filtrate being obtained, washed extensively with water to remove salts and dried at about 80 overnight. About 22 parts of a rich violet colored lake are obtained, which contains approximately 9.1% dye. This color varnish is easy to pulverize and does not bleed in water.
b) 2 parts of Alizarin Eight Green G (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, Vol. I, No. 1201) are dissolved in 500 parts of water and precipitated with varnish I in a manner similar to that given under a. The dyestuff solution is exhausted after about half an hour and 28.5 parts of a rich green colored lake are obtained, which contains about 7 dyestuffs. The colored lacquer does not bleed in water and has excellent lightfastness.
If 6 parts of this dye are used instead of 2 parts of alizarin real green G and the laking is carried out in the manner indicated under b, a colored lacquer is obtained which contains about 25% dye and which shows an intense black-green color.
c) 2 parts of malachite green (Schultz, color tables, 7th edition, vol. I, no. 754) are treated with varnish I in the manner indicated in example 1 under a. After half an hour of reaction time, ammonia is added to make the mixture weakly alkaline and then 2% tannin in the form of a 10% solution is added. After a few minutes, 1 part of tartar emetic, which is dissolved in 20 parts of water, is also added. After cooling and filtering, the filtrate is clear as water.
The precipitate is washed with water, dried, and about 30 parts of a deep black colored varnish containing about 6.7% dye are obtained. The lightfastness of this colored varnish is significantly better than that of the dye used as the starting material.
d) 2 parts of malachite green are dissolved in 400 parts of water at the boiling point. Under constant vigorous stirring, 100 parts of the lacquer I and 20 parts by volume of 10% hydrochloric acid are added to this solution. After half an hour and after the mixture has been gradually cooled, the reaction mixture is made weakly alkaline with 10% sodium carbonate solution and filtered. The filtrate is almost as clear as water.
The precipitate is washed extensively with water and dried. The color varnish obtained is a bright green and does not bleed in water.
e) In the same way as described in Example 1. under a, using 2 parts - Kiton pure blue (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th edition, No. 769) and lacquer I in acidic solution, a colored lacquer is produced. A non-bleeding colored varnish of excellent luminosity is obtained with remarkable ease.
f) A color varnish of excellent luminosity and color strength is obtained if the dye of Example 1 a is replaced by 2 parts of Safranin (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, No. 961) and the working method of Example 1 a is changed in such a way that that is allowed to react at 80 for 4 hours. The dye solution is almost completely exhausted after this time. 43.5 parts of a deep blue-red colored lake are obtained which contain about 4.6% of dye.
g) 2 parts of Chrysoidiu Y (Schultz, color tables, 7th edition, No. 27) are dissolved in 44) 0 parts of boiling water. 100 parts of the lacquer I and 20 parts by volume of 10% strength hydrochloric acid are added with stirring. The mixture is stirred for half an hour with gradual cooling. Then it is made weakly alkaline by adding soda solution and stirred for another half a mouth.
The liquid is still quite colored. For further absorption of the dye, 3 parts of pure clay are added and stirring is continued for half an hour. The paint solution is now pretty well exhausted; the colored precipitate is filtered off, washed and dried overnight. The colored varnish obtained shows an orange color and does not bleed in water.
<I> Example 2 </I> 600 parts of urea are heated to 160 to 165 for 17 hours, during which the initially clear, thin liquid is transformed into a white, granular magma. This is poured onto a metal sheet to cool down.
The white crystalline product obtained with a yield of around 87% contains somewhat unchanged urea, as well as the reaction products from urea, which are mainly formed by splitting off and renewed condensation of the ammonia, such as biuret, cyanuric acid, guanidine.
140 parts of this heat-treated urea are dissolved in 360 parts by volume of form aldehyde (39 percent by volume) by stirring the mixture on a water bath. After a few minutes a clear, pale yellowish solution with a clearly acidic reaction has formed.
10 '.feile Norit Supnos (an active filter charcoal) are then added and the mixture is filtered to give a crystal clear solution with a pg of about 6. _ This product is concentrated in a good vacuum at about 60, whereupon a thick; clear, syrup-like liquid that is soluble in cold water. This syrup contains about 80% solid carbamide - formaldehyde - condensation products (varnish II).
a) 2 parts of Neolan Blue 2 G (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, Vol. II, page 153) are dissolved in 500 parts of water, whereupon 50 parts of lacquer II and 20 parts by volume of 10% hydrochloric acid are added. The solution is then kept at about <B> 80 '</B>. After 10 minutes, a precipitate begins to show up, which takes up most of the dye. After one hour of reaction at <B> 80 '</B> the absorption is still incomplete; the mixture is left to stand in a warm water bath overnight.
After this time, the dye solution is exhausted. The deep blue precipitate is dried at <B> 80 '</B> overnight. This gives 17.5 parts of a colored lacquer with a dye content of 11.5%. This colored lacquer does not bleed in water and has excellent lightfastness. b) 2 parts of eosin Y dissolved in 500 parts of water (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, 1st Volume, No. 881) are reacted with 50 parts of lacquer II for 3 hours at 80 in the presence of 20 parts by volume of 10 % hydrochloric acid similar to Example 2a.
The reaction is completed by standing in the warm water bath overnight. The dye solution is completely exhausted after this time. It is then filtered, the precipitate washed well with water and dried at 80 overnight. 20 parts of a glossy one are obtained. red colored varnish that hardly bleeds in water.
<I> Example 3 </I> The lacquer I obtained according to Example 1 is evaporated to dryness and treated with scratches for 4 hours at 130 'in order to make it insoluble. The product is then finely ground in a ball mill (powder I).
a) 2 parts of cloth real orange G (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, II. Vol., Page 222) are dissolved in 600 parts of water and brought into reaction for half an hour at about 60 with 8 parts of powder I, through which constant stirring is kept suspended in the dye solution. The mixture is then cooled with stirring, 50 parts by volume of concentrated sodium sulfate solution are added and the mixture is filtered. The filtrate is light yellow in color, indicating that the dye solution is almost completely exhausted.
The residue is washed, dried, pulverized and is a luminous, deep orange colored varnish that does not bleed in water. The lightfastness of this color lacquer is remarkable compared to the original dye used as the starting material. If. a rubbing in glue is made, the colored lacquer shows.
Ten hours of exposure in artificial daylight in the atlas fadeometer shows no trace of fading, while a paper dyed with the original soluble dye to the same color strength is almost completely faded after the same exposure time.
b) 2 parts of malachite green are dissolved in <B> 500 </B> parts of hot water; add 30 parts of powder I and hold at <B> 80 'for 15 minutes. </B> The mixture is then cooled and mixed with 2 parts of tannin dissolved in 20 parts of water, and with 1 part in 20 Volumes of hot water are added to dissolved tartar. The reaction mixture is then made alkaline by adding ammonia and filtered. The precipitate that remains on the filter is dark green in color.
It is washed with water and dried. 31 parts of a colored varnish are obtained with a dye content of about 6.5%. The light fastness of this colored varnish is significantly better than that of the dye used as the starting product.
c) 2 parts of malachite green are dissolved in 500 parts of water. 50 parts of lacquer II and 20 parts by volume of 10% hydrochloric acid are added to this solution and the solution is kept at about 80 'for half an hour. The precipitate that forms absorbs part of the dye . 20 parts of powder I are now suspended in the mixture and, after stirring for one and a half hours, the mixture is left to cool overnight. The supernatant liquid is still green in color. The reaction mixture is neutralized by adding 20 parts by volume of 10% soda solution.
The separation of the dye is completed by adding 100 parts by volume of resin soap solution, which was herge by dissolving 4 parts of light-colored rosin and 2 parts of soda in water. The solution immediately brightens and the filtrate is only light green in color. The precipitate is washed and dried at about 80 overnight. The dark green colored lacquer obtained in this way does not bleed in water and shows a pronounced improvement in lightfastness compared to the dye used as the starting product. d) Dissolve 1 part of scarlet fever 2R (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7.
Edition, Volume I, No. 225) in 400 parts of water and 10 parts of powder I are added at 80 with stirring. After about half an hour, 10 parts of aluminum sulfate dissolved in 100 parts of water and a solution of 5% soda in 50 parts of water are added. To completely decolorize the dye solution, 12 parts of barium chloride dissolved in 150 parts of water are added. The liquid is now almost as clear as water. The precipitate is filtered, washed well and dried overnight at <B> 80 '</B>.
The color varnish obtained has good luminosity and good water resistance.
In order to be able to compare this colored varnish with a varnish obtainable by known processes, a varnish was prepared as follows: 10 parts of alum are dissolved in 100 parts of water and 5 parts of sodium carbonate dissolved in 50 parts of water are added. The mixture is then heated up to <B> 60 '</B>. Dissolve 1 part of scarlet 2R in 100 parts of water and add the solution to the above mixture. The color varnish is precipitated by adding 15 parts of barium chloride dissolved in 150 parts of water.
The color varnish separates; it is isolated by filtering off, washing and drying.
The rubbing and light test carried out on these two colored lacquers showed that the colored lacquer obtained using carbamide-formaldehyde condensation product is much clearer than the colored lacquer obtained according to the known process. The lightfastness of the new colored lacquer is also characterized by a remarkable improvement. <I> Example </I> jr-: a) 5th parts of Neolan Bordeaux (Schultz, color tables, 7th edition, 1st volume, p.
<B> 153) </B> are dissolved in 50 parts of lacquer I and 50 parts of alcohol. _ This solution is baked for 4 hours at <B> 130 '</B> in an electric oven. The foam-like, hard mass is ground in a ball mill. About 25 parts of a deep boron deaux red colored varnish are obtained in the form of a powder which bleeds a trace in water and has excellent lightfastness.
b) 5 parts of cloth fast orange G with 50 parts of lacquer I are baked in exactly the same way as in Example 4a and a bright, deep orange-red colored lacquer of excellent lightfastness is obtained. The yield is about the same as in Example 4 a and the lake does not bleed in water. <I> Example 5: </I> 2 parts of scarlet 2R are dissolved in 50 parts of varnish fI and the solution is baked for 4 hours at <B> 130 '. </B> After grinding, a colored varnish of excellent luminosity, which has very good lightfastness.
Example <I> 6 </I> a) 50 parts of dimethylolurea are dissolved in 100 parts of water and 4 parts of Kintonfast Yellow 3G (Schultz, Dye Tables, 7th Edition, Volume I, No. 748) are added. After the dye has dissolved, it is treated with heat for 4 hours at 130 and then the foam-like, hard mass is ground in a ball mill. A deep yellow colored lacquer is obtained which has excellent light fastness and does not bleed in water.
b) 40 parts of dimethylolurea and 10 parts of dimethylolthiourea are dissolved in 100 parts of water and 4 parts of Kitonfast yellow 3G are added. After four hours of baking at <B> 130 '</B>, a colored varnish is obtained in the form of a powder, which is a bright yellow with excellent lightfastness.
e) A carbamide-formaldehyde condensation product is produced from dieyandiamide in the following way: 16.7 parts of dicyandiamide are dissolved in 33.3 parts of formaldehyde by 40 percent by volume by stirring on a boiling water bath for 10 Heated minutes and then cools the very clear solution. 4 parts of Kitonechtgelb 3G are dissolved in this solution. It is then baked for 4 hours at <B> 130 '</B> and the foam-like mass is finely ground in a ball mill.
The glossy yellow colored lacquer obtained in this way has very good lightfastness.
Example <I> 7 </I> 1/2 part of ethyl violet 4B (Schultz, color tables, 7th edition, volume 1, no. 783) is dissolved in 100 parts of varnish I. Then add 1½ part tannin and 1% part grape stone and heat the mixture to 130 for 4 hours. The resulting foam-like, hard product is ground; a dark purple colored lacquer is obtained, the rubbing of which in glue shows very good lightfastness.
<I> Example 8 </I> 0.25 part of rhodamine B (Schultz, Color Tables, 7th Edition, Volume I, No. 864) is dissolved in 2 (.) 0 parts of hot water. 20 parts of powder I (see Example 3) are suspended in the dye solution. Then you give 5 parts by volume of a 10 tannin. containing aqueous solution and then 5 parts by volume of an aqueous solution containing 5% tartarine. The mixture is stirred well and cooled from <B> 80 '</B> to room temperature over the course of half an hour.
After this time, the dye solution is almost exhausted. The precipitate is filtered off, washed and dried (color varnish A).
A paint made from the same dye, but based on alum, is prepared according to the usual known processes as follows: 10 parts of alum are dissolved in 100 parts of water and heated to 60, whereupon 50 parts by volume of a 10% soda solution are stirred in. Then 150 parts by volume of a 10% barium chloride solution are added. The precipitate is washed once by decantation. Here, 1/2 part of rhodamine B, dissolved in 150 parts of water, is added.
The colored lacquer is precipitated by adding 5 parts by volume of a 10% aqueous tannin solution and 5 parts by volume of a 5% aqueous tartar solution. It is then filtered, washed and dried (color lake B).
The roughening and light tests of these two colored lacquers give the following results: The colored lacquer A, which contains the carbamide-formaldehyde absorption product, is colored deep blue-red, while the colored lacquer B is a red that is significantly less bluish and weaker, although it is roughly double contains so much dye. In addition, the light fastness of the color varnish A is significantly better than that of the color varnish B. Example 9 150 parts of varnish I are dissolved in 600 parts of hot water. Add 1 part violet 5 BO (Schulz, Dye Tables, 7.
Edition, Volume I, No. 785). Then 7.5 parts of tartaric acid dissolved in 20 parts of water are added. It is gelatinized with stirring at 80 on the water bath, which is the case after about 10 minutes. After standing overnight, the dye solution is practically discolored. It is filtered, washed with water, dried, and the precipitate is heated at 130 'for one hour. 125 parts of a violet colored lacquer are obtained. which contains about 0.8% dye.
<I> Example 10 </I> 150 parts of lacquer I are dissolved in 600 parts of hot water. To this are added 2 parts of rhodamine B. Then 7.5 parts of tartaric acid and 20 parts by volume of 4% hydrochloric acid are added and the mixture is coagulated on the water bath at about 80 The dye solution will soon be exhausted. After one hour, it is filtered off, the precipitate is washed, dried and heated to 130 'for 7 hours. This gives <B> 105 </B> parts of a bright blue-red colored lacquer which contains about <B> 1.9% </B> dye.
