Description

Installation frigorifique.

Refrigeration installation. The object of the invention is a refrigeration installation using, for the production of cold, the expansion of a fuel gas previously liquefied and the calorific properties of which remain available at the outlet of said installation.

Such a gas can be, for example, butane, propane, etc.

The installation according to the invention is characterized by a receptacle into which the gas is supplied in liquid form, this receptacle containing a brine, adjustment means being provided so that the quantity of liquid gas admitted can fully take up there. its gaseous form il, a given pressure, determined by its subsequent use, the expansion occurring entirely in the brine, the receptacle of which constitutes a block capable of absorbing the calories of the installation.

The drawing represents an embodiment of the object of the invention, given by way of example. 8a single figure is a sectional view of a refrigeration cabinet constituting said embodiment of the refrigeration installation.

The cabinet shown consists of an insulating casing 1 having, on one of its faces, an opening closed by a door 2, also insulating.

Inside said cabinet is a receptacle 3 containing brine 4, consisting for example of a mixture of water and glycerin.

Inside this container is provided a chamber 5, also closed by an insulating door 6.

In a metal bottle 7 outside the cabinet is a compressed combustible gas, for example butane or propane. This gas is extracted from the bottle in the liquid state, by means of a tube 8, then conducted by a pipe 9 in the wall of the container 3, at the base of which the pipe 9 opens, being closed by a needle 10 placed on a lever 11 articulated at 12 and commanded by a rod 13 coupled to a membrane 14. This membrane is subjected, on the one hand, to the pressure prevailing in the container 3 and,. on the other hand, to the pressure prevailing inside the cabinet and increased by the pressure of an external spring 15, which will preferably be provided with variable tension.

The brine 4 fills the container 3 almost completely, however does not touch the membrane 14 and is located away from the outlet pipe 16 of the gas expanded by a vapor dome 17 completing the container 3.

The outlet pipe 16 forms, inside the cabinet, a coil 18, then leaves the latter to go to one. any device making it possible to use the calorific properties of the gas, this device being represented here in a simplified manner by a valve 19 and a burner 20.

The operation of the installation described is as follows: The liquefied gas supplied by the bottle 7 penetrates into the brine, in which it expands, resuming its gaseous form and barbo as much in the said brine which, by cooling it down. - even, provides it with the necessary heat for porization. The vapors produced travel to the surface of the brine, in the space between the latter and the membrane and the dome, from where they are extracted to reach the burner 20.

The membrane 14 will not leave. however enter the liquid gas into the brine only provided that in the space between the receptacle 3 and the burner 20 or the valve 19 if the latter is closed, there is a pressure lower than a given pressure, determined by the diaphragm adjustment and corre sponding to the pressure at which the combustible gas must be supplied to the burner in order to ensure proper combustion. As soon as this pressure is reached, the membrane 14 therefore automatically causes the mouth of the pipe 9 to be closed by the needle 10.

The brine 4, the temperature of which is reduced during these operations, will seek to recover heat by extracting it in turn from the surrounding bodies. In particular, the temperature in chamber 5, surrounded on all its faces, with the exception of one, with cold brine, will drop significantly. Likewise, there will be a drop in temperature in the interior 21 of the refrigeration cabinet, in which the brine container forms a cold block absorbing heat. The exchange will be done without difficulty. since the brine conducts heat relatively well and its container will be made of a material also very good conductor.

The gas expanded and collected in the dome 17 being very cold, its passage through the coil 18 further contributes to cooling the interior 21 of the cabinet.

There are already installations of the type described, in which the liquefied gas is brought into a receptacle similar to receptacle 3, but not containing brine. These installations have the drawback that the liquid gas introduced into an atmosphere of cold vapors of the same gas does not find there sufficiently quickly the calories necessary for its vaporization. The temperature, and hence the vapor pressure of the gas, then falls rapidly below the operating pressure, hence the burner stops. In addition, the liquefied gas does not vaporize entirely in the receptacle 3, of which it ends up filling a part which, under the influence of an increase in temperature, caused for example by the opening of the door of the cabinet, increases its pressure, thereby rendering any diaphragm adjustment ineffective.

A container filled with brine ensuring a rapid distribution of the temperature drops, it is on the contrary possible to regularly expand therein a larger quantity of liquid gas for the same volume of the container, which also has the advantage of constituting a cold accumulator for periods of non-use of gas.

It is obvious that the receptacle 3 can be given any shape appropriate to its use and that in particular it is not necessary to provide a chamber therein, but that it is possible, on the other hand, to there add fins or constitute it as a tubular boiler, etc., in order to increase the exchange surfaces. It is not necessary either to pass the expanded gas through a coil such as coil 18, but it is possible, on the contrary, to extract it directly from the dome for its combustion.

Finally, by refrigeration installation is meant any arrangement in which cold is produced. In particular, it has been noted that in the supply of industrial furnaces by means of liquefied gas, the large flow required produces such a lowering of the temperature of the gas supply tanks that evaporation of the latter can no longer take place.

It is therefore possible, by means of an embodiment of the installation according to the invention, to cause the expansion of the gas in large containers containing brine, which has the advantage of eliminating the expansion and the cold produced by the latter in the supply tanks, but on the other hand to constitute important cold accumulators that can be used, for example, to cool the rooms where the ovens are located, to cool a circulating fluid of a cold distribution, etc.
