Description

EMI0003.0028

Wählt man also das Off- nungsverhältnis
EMI0004.0029

Game valve to achieve regulated response and agreement of organ pipes and similar sounders. The art of experienced wind instrument players consists largely in their ability to achieve a beautiful tone response. The means to do this are: Correct pressure measurement and the correct increase in pressure when applying the clay.

If you want to achieve a similar tone with mechanically blown wind instruments, such as those in the organ and are given in similar tone generators, the laws that apply to wind instruments must be implemented mechanically in the best possible way. The organ player has nothing else to do with sounding a pipe than pressing a key. With the mechanical action, in which the key is directly connected to the performance valve, the player can influence the tone formation to a certain extent.

The difficult playability of large organ works with mechanical action, however, has led to pneumatic or electrical devices being switched between the key and the play valve, which only require the player to press the key, while the actual work of opening the valve indirectly throws these devices is transmitted. As a result, even with the largest works, an arbitrarily easy variety has been achieved, but the ability to influence the tone that is inherent in the mechanical action has been lost.

The purpose of the present invention is to enable the sonic advantages of the direct mechanical action to be achieved by means of an indirect action that offers all ease of play.

The aim of the invention is to bring about both the most favorable discharge pressure for each pipe and the most favorable increase in this pressure for each pipe in the valve assigned to each pipe.

The mode of operation of the invention results most simply from a description of an example of the valve on the basis of FIGS. 1 to ss, in which an embodiment with electropneumatic actuation is shown, namely FIG. 1 shows a cross section of the valve with the whistle attached.

FIG. 2 is a view from above with the pipe lifted off and the blowing cap lifted off. Fig. 3 finally shows the arrangement of the air inlet essential for the invention and the air outlet openings in the BEZW. from the membrane space.

1 means the lid of a box-shaped wind chest, in which the air pressure p always prevails, and on which any number of pipes of one or more registers can be placed next to one another. The valve itself consists of a valve seat body 2, which passes through the shop lid 1 and is screwed airtight ver with this. The valve seat body 2 has an opening 3 which is closed by a valve disk 4 in the idle state and which, when the valve disk is raised, allows air to pass from the wind chest into the blowing space 6 formed by the blower hood 5.

From here the air reaches the broken foot 7 of the pipe. Cast in the valve seat body is a hoof iron-shaped magnetic core 8 which is magnetized by a coil 9 when a button is pressed. Here, an anchor plate 11 arranged in a ring 10 is lifted and lets compressed air from the wind load flow through the side openings 12 and 13 into a slot 14, which leads through the guide ring 15 to an opening E, which in turn has a bore 16 of the My branhaube 17 is connected. The ring 10, the guide ring 15 and the diaphragm hood 17 are firmly screwed to the valve seat body 2 by screws 18.

Between the guide ring 15 and the diaphragm hood 17, a diaphragm 19 that can be moved slightly up and down is clamped, which closes the diaphragm space 20 from the wind chest and which has through holes for the control wind and the screws 18 at points E, A and 27. The membrane hood 17 has another bore 21 with which the air outlet opening A is in communication.

The air exiting from A passes through a hole 22 penetrating the membrane 19, the guide ring 15, the ring 10 and the valve seat body 2 either into the blower chamber 6 or through the side hole 22a shown in dashed lines to the open atmosphere, in the first case the ring 24 pierced, but in the second case is closed. 27 (Fig. 3) are the holes for the screws ben 18.

The valve disk 4 is firmly connected to the membrane 19 by a wire 23.

The mode of operation of the valve described up to that point is as follows: In retirement, the diaphragm chamber 20 is depressurized, so that the pressure p prevailing in the wind chest acts on the one hand to open the valve disc 4 and on the other hand to close the diaphragm 19. The conditions are such that the effect on the membrane is only so much greater than on the valve disk that the valve just remains closed in the idle state. If the electrical button assigned to the valve is now depressed, the anchor plate 11, which holds the slot 14 closed in the idle state, is raised, and the compressed air from the wind chest passes through the paths 12, 13, 14, E and 16 as a control wind the membrane 19 into the space 20.

If the outlet opening A were not present, the pressure p would arise in the diaphragm space 20, which would just keep the pressure acting on the diaphragm from above in equilibrium, so that the valve would move under the effect of the loading pressure p on the valve disk 4 would open fully. Through the outlet opening A, however, part of the control wind entering the diaphragm space 20 immediately exits again, so that not the full loading pressure p but only the lower pressure p can arise in the diaphragm space 20.

Under the assumption that is always valid in the following that the bore 22 does not open into the blow-in space 6, but rather through the lateral bore 22a into the "free atmosphere", the magnitude of the pressure p in the membrane space 20 is as known:
EMI0003.0002
where A is the area of the outlet opening and E is the area of the inlet opening for the control wind in the membrane space 20. The pressure p, does not completely relieve the membrane from the pressure p. Nevertheless, the valve opens because it was assumed that there was only a small closing overpressure.

As soon as air comes out of the wind chest into the blowing chamber 6 with the valve disk open, a new pressure p2 builds up in this space, the size of which, similar to that of p, depends on the size ratio of the inlet and outlet openings of the blowing chamber. This pressure not only drives the air into the base of the pipe and makes the pipe sound, it also has a closing effect on the valve disc 4.

If V denotes the effective pressure area of the valve disk 4 and M denotes the effective pressure area of the diaphragm 20, and if the pressures acting on the valve disk 4 are given a positive sign and the closing pressures a negative sign, the following equilibrium condition is evidently obtained :

pY -I- p, M - pM - p = V - 0 If the valve dimensions are selected so that V = M, then is p -i- PI - p = P2 or p2 = p, that means the valve head always opens just enough for any pipe size that the blowing wind pressure p, becomes the same like the control wind pressure p ,.

But since p, depends on the () opening ratio, the blowing pressure also becomes
EMI0003.0028
p2 determined by this ratio. By appropriately measuring A and E, you can adjust the blowing pressure p .. as desired.

The size of the pressure p determines the sound strength of the pipe. However, it is not this pressure that is decisive for the type of address you are addressing, but rather its rate of increase, and experience shows that if the pressure rises too quickly, the speech is unclear, blistered and with overtones sent in advance, and that if the pressure rises too slowly, one The result is a dull and only gradually attaining the correct pitch.

These ratios are different for every pipe and every type of pipe, so that a flawless, clear response to each pipe is only achieved if the blowing pressure increases when the key is pressed, which is determined within narrow limits.

This influencing of the rate of pressure rise can be achieved in principle in two ways, namely by interposing a relatively large space between valve and pipe, as is the case with the well-known clay chew cell box, or by artificially slowing down the valve opening. The inclusion of larger spaces between the valve and the pipe quickly finds its limits.

On the other hand, the slowing down of the valve rise can be taken as far as desired as soon as the prerequisites for this are given, as is the case with the present invention. The fact that, when the duct 22, 22a opens into the free atmosphere in the air supply chamber 6, exactly the same pressure is always set as in the membrane 20, i.e. that the pressure increase in the air pressure chamber 6 exactly follows the pressure increase in the membrane chamber 20, enables a desired pressure increase in the To achieve an inflation space by bringing about a corresponding pressure increase in the membrane space.

As has been shown, the pressure p, for a given windchest pressure depends only on the opening ratio
EMI0003.0058
   from. A given relationship
EMI0003.0059
can, however, be achieved by values of A and E of very different sizes without affecting p i. On the other hand, the filling time of the membrane space 20, that is to say the time from pressing the button to reaching the final pressure p1, can be extended as required by reducing A and E in the same proportion.

In any case, a suitable dimensioning of A and E is sufficient in order to achieve not only the desired final pressure p1, but also the desired rate of increase of the same during the response time.

The formation of the standing wave in the pipe pipe, which is necessary for the full sound of a pipe, causes the wave to move back and forth in the pipe pipe several times. To achieve a good staccato game, on the one hand, the formation of the correct wave must begin immediately after the key is pressed, and on the other hand, the excitation must last until the standing wave is formed.

The first requirement is the setting of the correct rate of increase of the blowing pressure, in that the standing wave is formed more quickly despite the slower Ven tilstieges than when the pressure rises too unevenly. The second requirement serves the following device in the example shown: A ring 24 is screwed onto the valve body 2 and has, for example, three tabs 25 projecting over the edge of the valve disk 4. The purpose of these lobes is to bring the valve rise to a standstill as soon as the valve disk stops. Hub 26 has traveled.

This stroke 26 is of course set in any case so that, always assuming the opening of the channel 22, 22a into the free atmosphere, the desired blowing pressure p2 is created in the blowing chamber 6. In the absence of the retaining ring 24, this pressure p 1 would correspond to an equally large pressure p1 in the membrane space.

If the retaining ring 24 is present, on the other hand, p, can of course be made larger as desired without p increasing further. So if you choose the opening ratio
EMI0004.0029
in such a way that p1 becomes greater than would be necessary to raise the valve disk by the stroke 26, a certain excess pressure is created in the diaphragm space. This ensures that the valve remains fully open after the button is released

until the pressure p1 has dropped to the value p2, after which the valve only begins to close. Obviously, by appropriately dimensioning p1, i.e. again by a suitable choice of A and E, you can keep the valve open for a longer or shorter time after releasing the key. It has now been shown that keeping this extended open is one of the most important means of achieving an elastic stop and a lively tone formation in organ pipes. In the absence of the retaining ring 24, the large pipes in particular would not respond at all with a very short staccato game.

If p is too large, on the other hand, your tone would remain so long with every keystroke that a quick repetition would be impossible. In practice, it is therefore important to get the hold time to the point where, on the one hand, perfect repetition and, on the other hand, a sufficiently clear sound is emitted.

As can be seen, on the other hand, the appropriate dimensioning of A and E is sufficient to bring about the desired relationships, and even more: the nuance of the tone response can. be driven so far that the shortest possible keystroke just produces a clear and correct pitch, but not yet fully developed tone, which becomes stronger with a gradually lengthened keystroke, until it finally becomes more moderate Stacato game is fully developed without the repetition being impaired.

In this way, the vitality of the attack, which is indispensable for artistic play, is achieved, as is otherwise only inherent in the mechanical action. Compared to the latter, however, there is the advantage of significantly greater security because each pipe has its precisely matched valve. The purpose of the fastest possible Tonan language serves the opening of the hole 22 in the air blower space 6, instead of, as previously assumed, through the lateral hole? 2a into the open atmosphere.

It should be noted that if the assumptions and calculations given above, namely the equation of M and Y and the equation p., - p1 are strictly valid, this arrangement would be equivalent to closing the opening A, since between the membrane space 20 and the blowing chamber 6, precisely because of the relationship p2 = p1, there could never be a pressure difference. As a result, p, and therefore of course also p 2, would always have to adjust to the value p.

In fact, the above requirements do not apply very strictly, because firstly you make 131 a little larger than Y in order to secure a secure closure of the valve opening 8 by the Ven tilteller 4 in the idle state; Secondly, the tensile force of the membrane 19 on the Ven tildraht 23 changes with the altitude of the point of attack, in such a way that the vertical component of the tensile force increases with the valve head. The equilibrium condition p @ = p, derived above does not apply very strictly, but the closing forces increase as the valve disc increases.

The equilibrium position will therefore be sufficient even at a slightly smaller p2, so that p # - always remains a little smaller than p ,. This effect is apparently supported by the weight of the valve head and its connection with the membrane. In practice, there is also a pressure difference between the membrane space 20 and the blowing space 6 when the bore 22 opens into the blowing chamber 6, so that the opening A is not viewed as closed, but only as reduced in size compared to the case where the tax wind exits through the channel 22a into the open atmosphere.

However, so that the desired pressure p i also arises in the event of the opening of the bore 22 into the inlet chamber 6 in 20, E must obviously also be made smaller according to the apparent reduction in A, always assuming the absence of the assumption Schlagringes 24, 25. If this ring is present, however, E can of course be made as large as desired, whereby p ,, but not 19; 2 grows.

The pressure increase in the membrane space 20, however, is evidently different at the opening of the bore 22 after the inflation space 6 than at the exit of the control wind into the free atmosphere, and indeed it will be faster because of the apparent reduction in A the faster the greater the instantaneous value of p2.

The effect will therefore be that initially, where p = still equals zero, the pressure increase in the membrane space 20 is exactly the same as if the control wind were to escape into the free atmosphere, with increasing p., But the pressure increase in the space occurs 20 faster and faster. It has shown that if the pressure increase is modified in this way, the full sound of the whistle can be achieved most quickly with an impeccable response.

Similar to the tone address, the conditions are in the tone agreement. Closing the valve too quickly results in a hard tone closure, whereas closing it too slowly causes the ear to be pulled down before the tone is uncomfortable. A certain course of the pressure drop curve is also necessary to achieve a perfect tone agreement, whereby it is shown that with the conditions which are favorable for a good speech, a good agreement also results.

The rate of rise and fall of the pressure p, and thus also of the pressure p, can be influenced not only by the dimensioning of A and E, but also by the dimensioning of the rooms 20 and 6. Space 20 will be given a sufficient size so that A and E do not turn out to be too small. Furthermore, the space 6 will be made so large that the air flowing into it from the valve enters the pipe base with as little swirl as possible.

The ge showed embodiment of the invention so offers all conceivable ways to bring about a proper tone and discussion and a quiet Tonfort sound.

The feature of the invention consists in the arrangement of two separate openings in the membrane space, of which one E is used for the inlet and the other A for the outlet of the control air, which is intended to achieve that according to their absolute sizes and their size ratio both the final pressure in the membrane space, as well as the pressure curve during the filling time of that space beforehand determined size respectively. Take shape, so that as a result of this (as explained above) the pressure increase and final pressure in the blower chamber in the desired, predetermined manner achieved who the.

It should be noted that this principle can only be used for the valves that open into the air supply area, because only with these valves does the pressure in the air supply area depend on the pressure in the membrane area.

In the embodiment shown, it is assumed that A and E have been brought to the size from the outset which results in the desired pressure and pressure curve relationships for the pipe on each valve. But it makes sense that it would be in the essence of the invention if. one would make the openings A and E adjustable by installing .von taps with an adjustable passage opening or the like, as appears indicated for trial or measuring valves for setting and examining pipes of all kinds.

Finally, it should be noted that the attachment of the retaining ring 24 and the flow of the control wind into the blower room 6 are only refinements of the inventive concept described above, so that the invention can also be without this.
