Description

Process for the preparation of an azo dye. The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the production of an azo dye, which is characterized in that the diazo compound of 3-amino-4-methylbenzene-1-sulfonic acid methylamide is coupled with 2,3-oxynaphthoic acid amide. The action of the two components on one another can also take place in the presence of a substrate.

Example: 10 g of 3-amino-4-methylbenzene-1-sulfonic acid methylamide are dianoed as usual. The diazo solution, truncated to Congo neutrality with sodium acetate, is stirred into a solution of 9.3 g of 2,3-oxynaphthoic acid amide in dilute sodium hydroxide solution. The resulting dye is filtered off, washed well and dried. The two components can also act on one another in the presence of a substrate. The dye is a red powder.

It can be converted in a known manner into red colored lacquers of good oil and lightfastness and provides vulcanization-fast rubber dyeings of high lightfastness.
