Description

Steering device for the wheels of axles of motor vehicles that are close together. The invention relates to a steering device for the wheels of closely spaced axles of motor vehicles, in which, while eliminating the influence of the suspension, a possible unimpeded impact of the steering wheels should be made possible. Double-armed levers have already been arranged on each side of the vehicle, at the ends of which the steering wheels were mounted.

The rocker arms carrying the steering wheels were seated independently of one another and pivoted on a common axis that was hinged to the vehicle frame with the help of control arms. With this steering device, the steering linkage parts attached to the vehicle frame and the linkage parts connected to the axles already moved when the axles were deflected

that the paths of their mutual points of attack almost coincided. The known device is, however, afflicted with the significant deficiency that 'with a spring deflection of a steering wheel, the independently sprung steering wheel located on the other side of the vehicle experiences a pivoting due to the inclined position of the tie rod, which results in an unpleasant flutter of the Steering wheels give cause. Furthermore, the arrangement of double levers supporting the steering wheels limits the impact of the former in an undesirable manner.

The last-mentioned disadvantage is also not overcome by the fact that, according to another known proposal, the steering linkage engages directly in the manner known from individual steering axles with a common push rod on the conventionally designed steering pin. In the case of the last-mentioned embodiment, the steering is also harmful influences from the spring play

because the continuous steering push rod is neither suitable to follow the spring deflections of the steering axles acting at the ends of the longitudinal leaf springs located in the middle between the closely spaced steering axles, nor the changes in the distance caused by the play of the springs mentioned Steering linkage parts attached to the frame from the linkage parts connected to the axles with close.

The described are to be eliminated in accordance with the invention by a steering device with a steering linkage, in which the linkage parts fastened to the vehicle frame and the linkage parts connected to the axles move when the axles are deflected so that the paths of their mutual points of application coincide at least approximately A horizontally pivotable lever, which is arranged between these wheel axles and which transmits the steering movements to the wheels, is provided, which, viewed from the side, is arranged at least approximately in the center of oscillation of the axles.

It has proven advantageous here to arrange the connecting linkage of this lever with the tie rods near the center of the vehicle. In this way it is possible to design the steering device in such a way that the disturbances acting on it due to the spring play are small and, on the other hand, that the turning of the steering wheels is not impaired.

The drawing illustrates an exemplary embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely: FIG. 1 shows the steering device in plan and FIG. in side view, partly in section.

From the steering column 1, the rash is transmitted via the steering gear 2, the steering lever 3, the push rod 4, the pendulum support 5 and ctie to this subsequent push rod 6 to the double-armed lever 8 pivoted about the vertical axis 7 on the vehicle frame. At the two ends 9 and 10 of this double-armed lever 8, the push rod 6 on the one hand and the two links 11 and 12 on the other hand.

The latter are located near the center of the vehicle, but at different distances from the pivot axis 7, and via the two in the center of the wheel axles 13, 14 mounted on both sides of the lever 8, angle levers 15. 16 with the split track rods 11. 18 connected, to which they transmit movements that cause a tangential adjustment of the steering wheels of both axes to the curve.

The lever 8 is seen from the side at least approximately in the center of vibration of the wheel axles, that is to say the articulation points 19, 20 of the suspension springs 21, \? \? arranged. so that the spring play has no effect on the steering device.
