Description

    La disposition est- telle que la. palette 26 de  déclenchement vient en     contact    avec l'extré  mité libre du ressort 24 avant     que    la. levée  13 d'impulsion vienne en contact avec le le  vier 15 d'échappement, et ce faisant, plie  l'extrémité libre du ressort 24 d'une distance       suffisante    en     s'éloignant    de la corne 22 pour       lmrinettre    if la palette de déclenchement     de     passer du côté droit     titi    ressort au côté gauche  de     celui-ci    en suivant le sens de la     flèche    20       ;

i la fig. 2.

Clockwork mechanism. The present invention relates to a clockwork mechanism of the electrically operated type.

The clockwork mechanism according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a balance wheel, needle actuating members, an electromagnet, the armature of which is connected to said needle actuating members, a lever exhaust intended to periodically engage with the balance to communicate impulses to it and independent of the armature of the electromagnet during the periods during which it provides an impulse to said balance.

The drawing represents, by way of example. an embodiment of the mechanism according to the invention.

Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the clockwork mechanism showing the various parts thereof in a position taken by these parts when the mechanism is at rest; Fig. 2 is a view similar to FIG. 1 showing the various parts of the mechanism in a different position,

Fig. 3 is also a view similar to FIG. 1 showing the I-verses parts of the clockwork mechanism in yet another position; Fig. 4 is a cross section taken on line 4-4 of FIG. 3; Fig. 5- is a cross section taken along line 5-5 of FIG. 3.

A balance 10, fixed on a shaft 11 mounted in the usual way on the plates (not shown) in order to be able to oscillate, is set in motion by the usual balance spring 12 (FIG. 5). An impulse lift 13 is fixed to the balance 10 at a point spaced a determined distance from the axis of the shaft 11 and this the vee cooperates with the escape mechanism 14 to impart the impulse to the balance. .

The escapement mechanism 14 may be identical to the type for chronometer mechanisms, since the impulse lever or escape lever 15 of this mechanism is separate from the balance 7.0 except during a given force pulse. to the latter by vee 13.

The exhaust lever 15 is fixed between its ends at. a pivot 16 and. driven by a main spring 1-C before one end fixed to the shaft 16 and having the other end anchored to one of the plates (not shown (, - sent ) using a dowel 18.

During its oscillation, the balance 10 passes from the position shown in FIG. 2 in the position of fig. 3 in the direction of arrow 20, the impulse lift 13 then engages the top of the end 19 of the exhaust lever, so as to receive the impulse of said lever when the latter is released. The escape lever 1.5 has been moved beforehand by the frame 34 in the position shown at fie-. 2, in which the main spring 11 is loaded and the end of the exhaust lever is blocked.

In the present case, the device of: zfrèl for the escape lever contpreud ucie stone 21. practically in the form of a wedge, mounted on a horn 22 and cooperating with a projection 23 in the form of a hook, an escape lever 15 , to keep the latter armed, that is to say in the position shown in. fi-. 2.

The race 22 is fixed to a leaf spring 24, one end of the spring being rigidly fixed to one of the plates, at 25. The opposite end of the spring extends beyond the horn 22 and is intended for, be gripped by a triggering pallet 26 fixed to the shaft 11 of the balance.

The top 27 of the wedge-shaped stone is placed near the spring 24 and the end of the protrusion 23 is seen from a cam facet 28 intended to slide over the surface 29 of the stone 21. when the exhaust lever 15 is. moved tic the position shown in fi--. 1. to the. position indicated at the. fi, -. 2.

It will obviously be understood that the action of the. facet 28 of the cam on the inclined surface 21> of the. stone 21 will bend the spring 24 sufficiently to allow the facet 28 cam wrench of the protrusion to pass over the apex 27, whereupon the return of the leaf spring 24 brings the end of the protrusion 23 below the stone, in the manner indicated Î Ï, fig. 2.

We notice in fig. 2 that the relative position of the trigger paddle 26 with respect to; f the lift 7 3 t the impulse is such that the first is located in front of the last one when the balance 10 moves in the </ B > direction indicated by arrow 20 to. fi-. 2.

    The arrangement is such that the. release paddle 26 comes into contact with the free end of spring 24 before the. thrust lever 13 comes into contact with the exhaust lever 15, and in doing so, bends the free end of the spring 24 a sufficient distance away from the horn 22 to remove the release paddle from go from the right side of the spring to the left side thereof, following the direction of arrow 20;

i fig. 2. The movement of the. horn 22 with the free end said spring 24 is limited in this direction by means of a stop 30 placed so as to form a stop for the horn 22.

When the trigger paddle passes from the right side of the spring 24 to the left side of c, it (fig. 3) following the direction of arrow 20 (fi * 2), the impulse lift 13 comes into contact. with the top part of the exhaust lever 7 5. The initial movement of the lance 11) in the direction of the arrow 31 prodifil titi movement of the free end of the spring 24 in the,

same direction by the paddle 26 tic trigger and the amplitude of this movement is sufficient to free the extremile (the the projection 23 from the underside of the stone 21.

As soon as the escape lever is disengaged from the stone 21, the latter is actuated in the direction of the arrow 32 by the irf energy, alahlenif @ nt stored in the main spring 17, and since the lifting of im - prilsion 13 said balance is, in engagement with the ('essns said lever,

it necessarily follows that the latter will transmit an impulse to the pendulum 10.

Oit will see. clone of the above description (read the escape mechanism that the escape lever is in contact with the balance only during the time during which said lever gives an impulse to the balance and that at any other time it This arrangement is extremely important in the sense that the less interference there is with the correct action of the balance, the more accurate the clockwork mechanism.

In. in this case, the escapement lever 15 is moved from its rest position shown in FIG. 1 in its position shown in FIG. 2 by an electromagnet 33 in order to bind the main spring 17.

The electromagnet is fixed in the case of the clock (not shown) and connected in the usual way to a source of electrical energy. The electromagnet 33 is provided with an armature 34 carried so as to be able to pivot 35 between its ends and normally pushed into its. rest position remote from the poles of the electromagnet by a spring 36.

As will be seen from Figs. 1 to 3, the inner end of the spring is fixed to the frame 34 near the pivot 35, while the free end of the spring bears on a retaining pin 37 fixed to the plate. The extent of the movement away from the frame 34 of the pole pieces is determined by a stopper cheek 38 also fitted to the plate and able to come into contact with the outer end of the frame. A contact 39 is mounted on said frame, but isolated from the inner end thereof, and arranged so as to cooperate with a contact 40 fixed to the outer end of the escapement lever 15 by means of a spring. 41 blade.

The arrangement is such that when the exhaust lever 15 completes its working stroke under the action of the main spring 17, the contact 40 touches the cooperating contact 39 of the armature 34 and closes a circuit passing through the armature. electro magnet. This has the effect of causing the armature 34 to wobble around the peg 35 in the direction of the arrow 42 and in doing so, the armature oscillates the release lever 15 to its position shown in FIG. 2, the spring 17 thus being armed.

This latter function is accomplished, at the start of the oscillation of the frame 34, by engaging the inner end of the frame with a protrusion 43, extending laterally from the escape lever 15 then. that towards the end of the arma-ge of the spring 17, an adjustable screw 44 acts on the lever 15.

The circuit of the electromagnet is opened in synchronism with the movement of the exhaust lever 15 by the spacing of the contact 40 from the contact 39 by means of the adjustable screw 44 mounted on the inner end of the arma ture in a position such that it actuates the angled arm 45 fixed to the shaft 16 of the exhaust lever. It will naturally be understood that the escape lever -est blocked by the stone 21 in the position indicated in FIG. 2 before the interruption of the ar mature circuit.

As soon as the armature circuit is broken, the spring 36 operates so as to instantly oscillate the armature 34 around the pivot 35 to move it away from the pole pieces of the magnet and this movement of the mature arc actuates the armature. clock hands (not shown) by means of a ratchet 46. As shown in FIGS. 1 to 3, the inner end of the frame has a drive spring 47 fixed to it and having at the free end a curved part, so as to be able to engage in the teeth of the ratchet wheel.

The arrangement is such that when the spring 36 returns the armature 34 to its rest position, the ratchet wheel is advanced by one tooth - and when the armature is attracted towards the pole pieces of the electromagnet, the free end of the drive spring is moved to the engagement position with the next tooth on the ratchet.

Reverse movement of the ratchet wheel is prevented by a retaining spring 48, one end of which is fixed to the clock housing and the other end of which is arranged so as to engage with the shoulder surfaces. teeth of the ratchet on the ratchet wheel, as clearly shown in Figs. 1 to 3.

It will be noted from the above that the ratchet wheel 46 and the reduction gears (not shown) connecting the ratchet wheel with the clock hands, are set in motion only by the return spring 36 of the frame and have no connection whatsoever with the escape mechanism. During the. pulse period, the escapement mechanism comprising the main spring 17 is completely independent of the frame and therefore, as well as the fact that the escape lever is devoid of connection with the balance 10, < / B> except during the pulse, a. as a result that the. clock walk is. extremely accurate.

Are operating. The different parts of the clockwork mechanism are shown in FIG. 1 as being practically in the. position which they naturally take before the clock is put into an electrical circuit. Assuming now that the clock is re tied to an electrical circuit, the electromagnet is immediately excited as a result. that the contact 40, carried by the spring 41, is engaged with the contact 39 of the armature.

The excitation of the electromagnet 33 produces the osillatinn of the armature 34 in the direction of the arrow .12 and this movement of the electromagnet is transmitted to the escape lever 15 by arming it, that is to say by leading it to its position indicated in fig. 2, in which it is blocked by the. stone 21 carried by the horn 22.

Also-V4, the circuit. going to the electromagnet is opened by the action of the adjustable screw. on the bent arm 45 and the armature 34 of the electromagnet is moved by the spring 36 of the pole pieces by the distance required for the advance ment of the ratchet 46 of one tooth by the drive spring 47. La. stone 21 is then released by the. Trigger paddle after having launched the balance and the eclipse lever 15 is actuated by the main spring 17 to give an impulse to the balance.

The electromagnet 33 is energized again at the end of the pulse and the armature 34 oscillates again in the direction of arrow 4? to return the exhaust lever to its locked position shown at. the fi-. \? and then to open the circuit of the electromagnet. It will also be seen that when the armature 34 of the electromagnet is moved in the direction of the arrow 42, the driving spring 47 is advanced with respect to the ratchet wheel 46, so as to engage with the next tooth of this wheel.

The mechanism described is composed of a relatively small number of organs and. is capable of being manufactured at a relatively low price.
