  Es     ist    nun der     Abstand        dl    grösser als der       Abstand        d.;    ferner ist der Abstand     d3    grösser  als die beiden     letztgemannten        Abstände        dl,        d,;

       gewählt. Durch diese Dimensionierung ist die Grundfläche jedes Raupengliedes quer zur Fahrtrichtung p gestuft, so dass zunächst ein Abgleiten nach der Seite durch die Stützflächen 20, 2R' am Rande der Raupe und die Stützflächen 21, 21' an den innern Vorsprüngen verhindert wird.

  Caterpillar for motor vehicles with caterpillar drive. The invention relates to a caterpillar for motor vehicles, the movement of which is carried out by caterpillar drive. The object of the invention is to increase the lateral hold on loose (poured) soil in the caterpillar, on the running surface of which there are protrusions that rise above a base and each extend over part of the entire width of the running surface.

       According to the invention, this is achieved in that the base area is stepped transversely to the direction of travel.

  The object of the invention is shown in the drawing in an exemplary embodiment. 1 shows a drive wheel in side view with part of the caterpillar chain in the operating state and FIG. 2 is the associated front view;

      in Fi, g. Fig. 3 shows a single track link in a front view; Fig. 4 shows the associated plan view; Figure 5 is a section on line V-V of Figure 3; Fig. 6 is a section on line VI-VI of Fig. 3;

   in Fig. 7 shows a bottom view of the crawler chain.

  The caterpillar shown has a poor ground respectively. the road 1 attacking chain 2, which is ben from the drive edge 3 is driven. 4 is the axis of the drive wheel.

  The caterpillar chain is composed of caterpillar links which are articulated to one another by bolts 23 and which have a wider part 5 and a narrower part 6 in the transverse direction. The parts are connected to each other by .Stege 7 to form a single piece.

   19 are guide tabs which: see against rollers not shown in the drawing. With 8, 8 ', 9, 9' projections on the running surface of the link are designated, which rise above the base surface to be composed of the parts 10, 10 ', 12, 13, 13'.

  The distance between the part 12 of the base area which lies between the two innermost projections 9, 9 'and the surface parts 15 to 18 of the projections lying in one plane is designated by dl.

   The distance between the further outward parts 143, 13 'of the base area from the surface parts 1.5 to 18 of the projections is denoted by d =. d3 is the distance between the parts 10, 10 ′ of the base area lying on the outer edge of the caterpillar and the surface parts 15 to 18.

  The distance dl is now greater than the distance d .; furthermore, the distance d3 is greater than the two last-mentioned distances d1, d,;

       elected. Through this dimensioning, the base of each track link is stepped transversely to the direction of travel p, so that initially sliding sideways through the support surfaces 20, 2R 'on the edge of the caterpillar and the support surfaces 21, 21' on the inner projections is prevented.

  The stepping of the base area also ensures that the caterpillar, when it is placed on the ground, is initially loaded on the upper surface parts 15 to 18 of the projections, after which the load from the base surface parts 13 and M ',

          then from the middle base part 12 and finally from the outermost base parts 10 and 10 '. So there is no sudden load on the caterpillar link over the entire width, but rather a load that progresses gradually from the outside in and then out again.

   From Fig. 3, it can be seen that the projections aufwei sen the profile of a trapezoid. So are designed as pyramid trumps, whereby both a slight penetration conditions of the projections in the ground, as well as easy pulling out of the ground he aims wind.

  Incidentally, the projections are arranged offset from one another in the direction of travel p, as shown in FIG. 4, as a result of which the load is gradually absorbed in the direction of travel as well.
