Description

Additional patent to main patent no. 198139. Process for the production of an azo dye. It has been found that a valuable azo dye which is soluble in water in the form of an alkali salt is obtained if diazotized 3-nitroaminobenzene is combined with the aqueous solution of the sodium salt of N- (ethyl - ethyl ss- thiosulfuric acid) aminobenzene .

When dry, the dye forms a yellow-red powder which dissolves in organic solvents such as acetone, ethyl acetate, and in water with an orange color. It dyes artificial acetate silk from an aqueous solution in real orange tones.

Example: 13.8 parts of 3-nitroaminobenzene are diazotized with 7 parts by weight of sodium nitrite and hydrochloric acid with the addition of ice in a known manner and the resulting diazo solution with a solution containing 28.3 parts of the sodium salt of N- (ethyl-ss-thio- sulfuric acid ethyl) -aminobenzene, which is obtained by converting N- (ethyl-ss-bromo-ethyl)

      - aminobenzene combined with sodium thiosulfate in boiling aqueous acetone solution. The coupling is completed by adding sodium acetate, the dye is precipitated out completely, if necessary, by the addition of sodium chloride, filtered and washed neutral.
