Description

.5-I?i8ulfo- chlorid vom F'.193 erhalten.

Process for the preparation of a disulfonic acid chloride. It was found that one can get the 1-carboxylic acid-'3 '. 5, benzene disulphonic acid chloride ei. M. 14,690 (1893) is obtained when benzoic acid is heated with chlorosulphonic acid with the addition of oleum.

Example: 240 parts of benzoic acid are added cold to 1100 parts of chlorosulphonic acid. whereupon 9.00 parts of 66% oleum are added. The mixture is then heated to temperatures between M ' and 200' in the autoclave for dTei: hours.

After the reaction mixture has cooled, it is allowed to flow on ice with stirring, the precipitated disulfochloride is suction filtered and washed thoroughly with water.

The product thus obtained is almost white. By recrystallization from benzene, or more advantageously from chlorobenzene, (the pure 3. .5-I8ulfochlorid from F'.193 is obtained.
