Patentsehrift Nr. 190158 nebst Zusätzen be schriebenen Verfahren.

Additional patent to main patent no. 190158. Process for the preparation of an honorable anthraquinone dye. In the Swiss. Patent No. 190158 together with additives describes processes for the preparation of anthraquinone derivatives of the general formula
EMI0001.0007
in which X = OH, NH, NH alkyl or NH aryl and R represents the residue of an aromatic o-oxyearboxylic acid,

and which also contain one or more sulfo groups. These dyes provide chrome lacquers with good properties.

It has been found that dyes of the general formula
EMI0001.0016
in which X = OH, NH2, NH alkyl or NH aryl, Y represents any substituent with the exception of the sulfo group and R represents the radical of an aromatic o-oxycarboxylic acid which is still sulfated,

the dyes of the above-mentioned patents, after chromation, still surpass the potency and behavior towards acetate silk effects. The other fastness properties, especially washfastness, milled wool and lightfastness, can also be described as very good in the case of the chromed dyeings of the dyes mentioned.

The methods of manufacturing these dyes correspond to those in @ der Schweizer. Patent letter No. 190158 along with additions to the procedures described.

5-Amino-2-oxybenzoic acid or its sulfonic acid, 3-amino-2-oxy-.: I-sulfobenzoic acid, 4-amino-3'-carboxy-4'-oxy can be used as o-oxycarboxylic acids, for example -5'-methyl-diphenylmethane, p-amino-benzoyl -1-a.mino-2-oxy-5-sulfobenzene-3-earboxylic acid.

The subject of the present additional patent is a process for the preparation of a chromable dye of the anthraquinone series, which is characterized in that 3-amino-2-oxy-5-sulfobenzoic acid is allowed to act on 2,4-dichloro-oxyanthraquinone.

Example: 15 parts by weight of 2,4-dichloro-1-oxy-anthraquinone are ground with 35 parts by weight of 3-amino-2-oxy-5-sulfobenzoic acid, 40 parts by weight of potassium acetate, 2 parts by weight of copper acetate and 1 part by weight of copper powder and after adding 25 parts by weight of water in 250 parts by weight of methanol, heated under pressure in a closed vessel for 18 hours. The blue-colored reaction mass is acidified with hydrochloric acid with addition of saline solution, filtered off with suction, washed with normal hydrochloric acid and then with saline solution until the reaction is neutral.

To separate the little unreacted dichloroxyanthraquinone, the filter material is stirred with sodium biocarbonate solution until the dye is completely dissolved at 40 to 50 ° C., some kieselguhr is stirred in, then filtered, salted out with sodium chloride, filtered off with suction, washed neutral with sodium chloride solution and dried:

The 1-oxy-2-chloro-4- (2'-ogy-3'-carboxy-5'-sizlfo) -phenylaminoant'hrachinone, expressed in this way in the form of sodium salt, dissolves in concentrated sulfuric acid with a reddish blue color after, addition of form aldehyde changes to green-blue: In soda solution it dissolves with green-blue color and in sodium hydroxide solution with blue color: When saline solution is added, green flakes separate from these alkaline solutions. The dye dissolves in acidified water with a red-sticky blue color .

From this solution, wool is dyed red-embroidered blue. After chroming, the dyeings change to a green with good fastness properties.
