Description

Electric discharge vessel. Electrical discharge vessels with a metal shell have become known, the system of which is mounted on a glass body which is fused onto the vessel shell. The disadvantage of the early softening of the glass in this design bypasses other constructions, which fix the system to material that is difficult to soften, in particular ceramic material, and melt the metal piston on the same. Still other implementations use a bracket in or on metal bodies, on or through which the retaining wires are attached to glass or are guided through.

To connect such metal bodies to the metal vessel shell, soldering or welding processes are required, which endanger the glass parts that have already cooled down and, moreover, call into question an economical quantity production.

A suitable combination is, for example, that of ceramic, metal and glass; It provides solutions that simplify and therefore increase the amount of production of the various types of discharge vessels, and also take into account the technical requirements for small shortwave tubes with low amplifier end-loss, as well as allowing a compact construction of powerful transmission tubes.

According to the invention, it is now proposed to form the sealing body of the piston so that it has a metal layer over its entire extent, which is penetrated by ceramic parts at the points used for carrying out the power supply and coated with a melt flow.

Here, the vacuum seal can consist of a perforated metal plate penetrated by ceramic sockets. Furthermore, the metal layer can consist of a metal coating applied to a ceramic disk.

It has now been shown that the resistance to temperature changes of a vacuum-tight ceramic-metal connection made with glass becomes particularly great, especially in the arrangements that are customary and required for vacuum vessels, if the ceramic material with one, albeit one. very thin metal layer is covered. It is clear that this results in the possibility of choosing an easily meltable or the same or a similar metal of which the vessel shell itself is made for reasons of stress-free glass overmelting for this layer. The layer can, firmly adhering, directly on the ceramic itself, for.

   B. be gebra.nnt according to known methods, melted or sprayed on or also deposited galvanically or be in an applied metal disc.

Above all, if the lower edge of the vessel flask is suitably designed and a deposit of the same type is placed on the inside of the same with the metal disk, a glass overmouldable surface or a pourable, pot-like hollow body can be formed, which over its entire extent consists of the same or predominantly consists of the same material and in this way both the tension-free adhesion, z.

   B. a layer of glass, secures and prevents their outflow over the sealing point than the laying of all, in the manufacture of the non-vented vessel to be sealed places, that is power feedthroughs and the vessel bulb edge, in a to be melted, bordered by an all around, predominantly flat Area permitted.

The fusion of surfaces of different materials in preferably one plane is much easier to control in terms of gas engineering, even with the use of materials with different thermal expansion coefficients, and therefore easier and quicker to carry out than the usual blunt material, even with complex material profiles or joining overlapping A. or the melting of such bodies.

The lat-erialflächen can also be provided with interruptions, bores, holes or the like and these can be filled out with grains made of a different material, provided that only a common, possible flat surface is created and the parts of different material with regard to the coefficient of thermal expansion sit flush. If during the melting of elec- trodes or power supply lines through the shell of glass vacuum vessels - in the so-called pinch foot - mainly from the arrangement

Inwardly curved shapes are used, this is done under the compulsion to secure the already cooled, vacuum-tight melting duct, on which the vascular system or parts of it are fixed at the same time, from renewed, dangerous heating when it is melted down in the vessel flask .

However, with these commonly used or even double-curved, pinch-foot or inlet tube profiles, one moves away from the ideal and simplest form of a vacuum-tight bushing - from the vertical penetration of a simple, preferably flat material surface by a simple wire - and causes the Usual embodiment, useless material and space consumption and thus dimension enlargement, quite apart from the number of work steps that the production of these glass pinch-feet requires, especially for special vessels, and the considerable

A volume production almost always questioning difficulties in the production of low-loss feedthroughs of the smallest dimensions for transportable transmitter and amplifier tubes.

In the embodiment according to the invention, these disadvantages can be avoided in that the tube system is fixed on a ceramic disk, which preferably consists of dielectric, low-loss magnesium silicate and finitely its parts penetrates the actual metallic sealing layer like a socket in such a way that the metal - and ceramic parts form a common surface.

The parts penetrating the metal layer serve according to the invention to accommodate the power supply lines and, at the point where they enter the ceramic material, can be expanded continuously in cross-section in such a way that an edge that tapers onto the ceramic surface is created.

The metal part in which the holding insulating washer is embedded, for example, is expediently connected in a vacuum-tight manner to the vessel piston by the same fusible base which fuses the supply lines in the insulating bushes and these itself with the metal part of the vacuum seal. It can of course also various dene melt flows such. B. glass and metallic can be used.

It has been shown that, even if the ceramic parts are used to accommodate the bushings, the ceramic parts lie with a wide tolerance in the metal layer, and indeed sit almost imprecisely, the thermal expansion of the resulting combination body with flush surfaces of the parts with one another and with the lower part of the flask is different from that of the individual parts.

Furthermore, who the pressure and tensile forces of the greatly expanding metal layer occur with temperature changes to a very large extent from the pressure-resistant ceramic Ma material of the insulating body. To achieve a tension-free fusion, a sealing glass pane can be adapted to the resulting thermal expansion of that material combination as a result of the glass-relieving effect of the ceramic material.

This has the advantage that you can easily choose a material for both the metal disc and the metal piston in this arrangement, which is generally not durable due to its high thermal expansion, for example with glass, but for reasons of cheapness and green good machinability or for other reasons would be desirable, e.g. B.

Iron, copper, copper or nickel alloy, as well as the fact that one gets free for the melt from the expensive lead glass, which is usually used for melting, which softens early and can use cheap or, in the interest of higher heatability, advantageously hard glass that is difficult to soften.

Brass can even be used for the power supply lines that carry the retaining wires or are made of one piece with them and, provided with a sharpened collar, run through the insulating bushing, so that the connecting pins or plugs are then also used consist of one piece.

For reasons of glass technology, brass or iron is not used for the metallic layer of the closure body, but rather. only the vessel piston is made of these metals or alloys, so the effect of the piston rim, which increases the resulting thermal expansion value of the closure bodies, can be compensated for by a compensation ring made of the same material, pushed over the vessel rim and also flush with the disc with its lower rim.

which the metal part of the locking disc consists of. In such an execution, the sharpened or up to an extremely weak wall thickness worked out lower edge of the vascular piston penetrates ring-like closure disk and compensation ring up to their common upper surface and is there, together with the other material surfaces, melted vacuum-tight.

To produce a sealing surface that can be melted over, the lower vessel edge can also be formed widened in the manner of a flange, and wear the melt layer itself, or with the intermediary of a coating made of another metal. A flat profile of the material surface to be melted over gives particularly high cooling speeds for maintaining the melt flow without tension.

The advantage of covering the ceramic retaining disk with metal is that with the same arrangement, as a result of the faster heating of the metal, e.g. For example, the glass lying on He tall softens much faster than on ceramic and this, in addition, because of the thermal protective effect of the metal, is slowly supplied with the heat and is therefore protected from temperature increases that exceed their resistance to temperature changes.

For the vessel manufacture this has such an effect that the vessel resp. its bottom part almost abruptly up to the softening temperature, z. B. the glass clay flow can be heated without any material is endangered. Exactly the same conditions exist if the melt flow is not melted on the bottom seal, but poured on and the material surface to be covered is preheated in order to achieve good adhesion.

With the use of suitable metals and application of the surface overlay, a tightly melted vessel produced according to this can be cooled considerably more quickly than with an overmelted, purely ceramic base plate and, when cooled in the open air, holds safely and tension-free. This fact enables the volume production to be increased considerably.

If the retaining wires and thus the system are fixed in the ceramic material, which is difficult to soften, with high-melting metal fluxes, the heating of the vessel, as is required, for example, when using hard glass to melt the seal, can be increased considerably. without even the slightest shifts occurring for the system.

The arrangement according to the invention, however, allows the fixing melt for the retaining wires and the sealing melt for the vacuum seal to be softened in the same meat device and in one operation. If, as in most common designs, system fixation and vacuum-tight closure are taken over by one and the same glass body, then the vessel heating, e.g.

   B. during the subsequent degassing, as a result of the beginning glass softening on the vessel shell and closure body, are interrupted very early in order to exclude deformations on these two and thus changes in position of the holding wires. The need to remove the fixation and melting point of the retaining wires, as in the case of the pinch-foot shape, by means of an inwardly curved shape of the heat effect, is thus eliminated with the arrangement according to the invention.

Their constructive and manufacturing advantage consists, among other things, in the fact that no shock-sensitive glass is used for the entire structure of the vessel, since the former is vacuum-tight from the start. who can be exposed to the full amount of the heat of fusion to be supplied, and instead of complicated, expensive machines, for example, a simple glass casting or glass melting process with the vessel at rest is used to fuse it.

In the following, exemplary embodiments of discharge vessels according to the invention are explained with reference to FIGS. 1 to 14 of the drawing.

In FIG. 1, 1 is the vessel bulb, 2 is the metal plate with the ceramic insulating bushes 3. The glass flow 13 is introduced into the hollow body, which is formed by the edge 14 of the vessel bulb and the metal plate 10. In FIG. 5, 15 is the fusible socket, which consists predominantly of the same material as the closure plate 16. It has the cross-sectional profile tapering off sharply at 17 and carries the plug pin 18 on its lower edge. This is also fixed by the flux 19 of glass clay .

In Pig. 6 forms the tin-melt socket with the plug pin a body 20, in which the retaining wire 21 is attached; in FIG. 7, 22 is the fusible socket seated in the insulating socket 23 with the bore 24 for the connection piece; in Fig. 8, 25 is the z.

   B. made of iron, copper, copper or nickel alloy metal fall part of the vacuum seal, in which the ceramic support plate 26 with its eyes 27 protrudes. The fusible sockets 28 rest with their collar 29 on the eyes of the support disk and are fixed with these through the glass flow 30.

In FIG. 9, the edge 31 of the vessel piston 32 is merely sharpened, so that an approximately flat surface is formed by the metal plate 33 with the eyes of the support disk 34 and the vessel piston edge 32; In FIG. 10, 35 is the end plate to which the support disk 36 is connected by the metal melt flow 37.

The thin-walled edge of the vessel bulb at 38 is flush with the other material surfaces and the surface of the metal compensating ring 40 at 39. 41 is a glass flux for fixing the melting bushing in the support disk. In FIG. 11, the bore of the support disk 42 is filled with the molten metal flow 43; In Fig. 12, 44 is the metal part of the vacuum seal, penetrated by the eye 45 of the support disk 46; the fusible socket 47 is fused to this through the molten metal flow 48.

It protrudes beyond the support disc and takes on the retaining eyelet 49, which is jammed at 50 together with the retaining wire 51. In Fig. 13, the retaining eyelet 54 has a flange which lies on the surface of the eye of the support disk 55; In FIG. 14, the ceramic support disk 56 is covered with a metal coating 57 which leaves the eyes 58 of the support disk free. The same metal coating is located on the inside of the piston edge at 59. 60 is a radially extending connection piece with a rectangular profile.
