Nachine for processing and drying cereal seeds. The object of the invention is a machine for the treatment and drying of cereal seeds, comprising a tower in which the grain descends passing through an upper section, through which passes air circulating in a closed circuit, this circuit comprising a fan and a heater, and a lower section, through which cold air is drawn in and returned to the atmosphere by another fan, to cool and dry the grain.
This machine is characterized by an intermediate section through which the grain passes, after leaving the upper section and before reaching the lower section, said intermediate section being traversed by hot air.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, three embodiments of the object of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a schematic view of the first embodiment; fig. 2 shows this same machine, but with certain organs arranged so as to achieve another mode of operation.
Fig. 3 is a schematic view of the second embodiment and FIG. 4, a schematic view of the third embodiment; fig. 5 showing a detail of FIG. 4, in which an air valve has a position other than that indicated in fig. 4.
In the embodiment shown in FIG. 1 and 2, a section A is provided at the top or at the top of tower a, in which the seed is subjected to the action of hot air which passes through it and then, which, after reheating , returns to its starting point, so that the same quantity of air circulates continuously in a closed circuit. A fan b draws air from section A. through the open-bottom ducts c and passes it through a re heater d and, then sends it through duct e, to the open-bottom ducts f of this section 9, so that the hot air passes through the seed descending into the tower before exiting through the ducts c.
The seed then descends into section B of the tower, in which hot air passes through the seed and then returns to the atmosphere carrying the moisture evaporated from the seed. As shown in solid lines in FIG. 1, a fan g can suck, when the valve h is open, the air from the open-bottomed ducts i of section B, this air arriving at section B through a heater j , k conduit and ni open bottom conduits. When section B of the tower is used for seed treatment and not drying, the air heater j is connected in parallel with heater d in section A of the tower.
This parallel connection is made by moving the two articulated valves n and o from their position in FIG. 1 in the position of FIG. 2.
The p and q air collectors located on one side of the tower are then put into communication with each other, opening the valve r and the air collectors s and t located on the other side of the tower are in the same way placed in communication by the opening of the valve 2i. Valves la and hi are closed. The circulation fan b in the upper section A then passes the hot air in a closed circuit through the two sections A and B and the combined heaters d and j and then bring it back, via line e, to the tower. It can therefore be seen that the air passing through section B circulates in the same closed circuit as the air passing through section A.
Fig. 2 shows how the different organs are placed to achieve this last method of operation.
From section B the seed passes to the lower section C where it is cooled by cold air which, through it, is sucked from the atmosphere by the fan g and returned to the latter. A variant of this machine could be arranged so that the air coming from section C is sent to the heater of the second section to then be discharged into the atmosphere after having passed through this second section, when the latter is used for drying. of the seed. The cold air enters section C through the open-bottom ducts v and leaves it through the open-bottom ducts ru.
Instead of using a single fan g for both sections B and C, when section B is used as a drying section, a separate fan could be provided for section B, as shown in dotted lines at x.
Intermediate sections D and Di are provided, free of hot air circulation, between sections A and B, respectively B and C, which intermediate sections serve to allow the heat imparted to the seed to penetrate the latter and cause moisture to pass from the seeds to the surface of the latter to facilitate drying.
Fig. 3 schematically shows a machine in which the circulation of hot air through the upper section A of the tower a takes place in the same way as in the first embodiment, by means of the fan b circulating the air in a closed circuit including the heater d. Section B, however, is traversed by air drawn into the atmosphere through section C by means of the fan gi this air passing through heater ji, before reaching section B, in such a way that the heat drawn off by this air as it passes through the seed, in section C, is returned to the seed which is in section B.
In the machine shown in fig. 4, the section B of the tower is independent of the section A which is identical to that of the machine of fig. 3. When the double valve y is in the position shown in fig. 4, the hot air circulates, by means of the separate fan z, in a closed circuit through section B, but when the valve is in the position shown in fig. 5, the fan draws air from the atmosphere through opening 2 and returns it, after passing through section B, to the atmosphere through duct 3. The air coming from fan z passes into a reheater before arriving at section B and section C has its separate fan.
In this machine, as in the others, the air passes through the seed, into the tower, through transverse open-bottomed ducts arranged in rows, one row serving as the air inlet and the other at the exit of this one.
