Description

Oven masonry made of refractory bricks with intermediate layers of sheet metal. The invention relates to a furnace masonry made of refractory bricks with inter mediate layers of sheet metal. If refractory bricks are laid ver using intermediate layers of flat sheet metal to a furnace masonry that can not expand freely, as z. B. is the case with rotary kilns and drum ovens, significant stresses arise when the furnace is heated because the softening of the sheet metal inserts progresses more slowly than the expansion of the stones.

This inconvenience is eliminated according to the patent claim of the main patent in that the stones are kept at a distance by metal sheets whose space filling is enlarged in such a way that the deposits flatten out under the compressive pressure that occurs during the thermal expansion of the stones. For this purpose, sheets are used as intermediate layers which have elevations which have been worked out of the material by pressing, rolling or the like, for example corrugated sheets.

The raised sheet metal inserts give in when the stones expand, but this does not occur to the same extent at all points of the food. On the fire side the expansion is considerably greater than on the outer jacket, and it is therefore in the case of the use of metal sheets described in the main patent, the elevations of which have the same dimensions everywhere, in joints of the same thickness everywhere, that of the inside outside decreasing expansion of the stones not taken into account.

In order to remedy this disadvantage, according to the present invention, the furnace masonry is designed in such a way that expansion joints narrowing from the inside to the outside are created in the sheet metal inserts, the elevations of which are made from the material from the inner edge facing the furnace to the opposite outer edge gradually decrease in height, are inserted.

Particularly suitable for the furnace masonry, according to the invention, sheets with elevation are eil. whose cross-section has the shape of a wave line with angular and flattened waves, the wave width being unchanged in the successive cross-sections.

Corrugated sheets with gradually interlacing waves have already been used in construction for the manufacture of hollow columns. In these known sheets, however, the corrugation width increases as the corrugation height decreases, and the sheets therefore have a trapezoidal basic shape. For this reason, they are not suitable as a joint insert for furnace masonry.

If you use sheets made of a metal that melts at the operating temperature of the furnace as intermediate layers, it is expedient to lay the stones at a distance just sufficient to compensate for thermal expansion and select the dimensions of the elevations so that they only absorb part of the thermal expansion .

When the furnace is heated, the deposits are pressed flat, then they melt and the molten metal is partly absorbed by the pores of the stones and partly squeezed out of the joint. However, if you use intermediate layers made of a metal that does not yet melt at the operating temperature of the furnace, the stones are advantageously placed at a greater distance from each other than is required to compensate for thermal expansion, and the elevations are made so high that they can absorb all or almost all of the heat expansion. In this case, the sheet metal inserts are pressed flat when the stove is heated, so that they fit snugly against the stones.

The softened metal is not seen from the joints, or at least only to a very slight extent, which is advantageous in that it further reduces the stress on the stones.

The drawing shows an exemplary embodiment of an intermediate position for rotary kilns '' <B>. 1 1 </B> .- Ll.'h L "ig. 1 shows an i, raufsiellt, FIG. 3 a side view, FIG. 3 a section along the line.

111-11I of FIGS. 1 and 4 show a section along the line IX-IV of FIG.

The sheet metal insert has continuous elevations 1 worked out of the material, which gradually and completely entwine with the same width from the inner edge to the opposite outer edge. In the area of the elevations, the cross-section has essentially the shape of a wavy line with angular flattened Wel len, and the elasticity of the inserts is therefore much smaller than that of corrugated sheets with rounded sheets.

Using the sheet metal inlays shown, the furnace masonry is now made with wedge-shaped decreasing I) expansion joints from the inside to the outside. The wedge shape of the expansion joints is advantageous in such a way that they change their shape when they are heated up in such a way that the distance between the side walls of the stones separated by the intermediate layer is the same at all points, whereas in the masonry with one joint in the main patent constant strength when heating a wedge-shaped joint narrowing towards the fire side,

there is no such effective mutual support of the stones as a wedge-shaped joint that deforms into a joint of the same height during operation
