Description
Verfahren zur Herstellung eines esterartigen Kondensationsproduktes. Es wurde gefunden, dass man ein wert volles esterartiges Kondensationsprodukt er hält, wenn man Octadecylchlormethyläther der Formel <B>C1837</B>. O . CH2Cl mit einem essigsauren Alkalimetallsalz zur Umsetzung bringt.
Das entstandene esterartige Konden- sationsprodukt hat die Formel Ci8H37. <B>0</B>. CH,. OCOCHs und ist eine farblose niedrigschmelzende wasserunlösliche Masse, die sich in organi schen Lösungsmitteln leicht auflöst.
Die Umsetzung wird zweckmässig so aus geführt, dass man die Chlormethylverbindung in einem organischen Lösungsmittel mit dem essigsauren Alkalisalz erwärmt, das aus geschiedene anorganische Salz abfiltriert und das Lösungsmittel verdampft. Das Produkt kann zum Wasserabweisendmachen von Fa- serstoffes dienen.
Beispiel: Man versetzt eine Lösung von 77 Ge wichtsteilen techn. Octadecyl-chlormethyl- äther in 400 Gewichtsteilen Methylenchlorid mit 30 Gewichtsteilen wasserfreiem Kalium- acetat und erhitzt 10 Stunden unter Rühren zum Sieden.
Das gebildete KCl wird abfil- triert und das Lösungsmittel abdestilliert. Zur Reinigung wird der erhaltene Ester aus Methanol umkristallisiert. Er stellt eine farb lose, niedrigschmelzende Masse dar.
Process for the preparation of an ester-like condensation product. It has been found that a valuable ester-like condensation product is obtained when using octadecylchloromethyl ether of the formula <B> C1837 </B>. O Brings CH2Cl with an acetic acid alkali metal salt to react.
The resulting ester-like condensation product has the formula Ci8H37. <B> 0 </B>. CH ,. OCOCHs and is a colorless, low-melting, water-insoluble mass that dissolves easily in organic solvents.
The reaction is expediently carried out in such a way that the chloromethyl compound is heated in an organic solvent with the acetic acid alkali salt, the inorganic salt which has separated out is filtered off and the solvent is evaporated. The product can be used to make fibrous material water-repellent.
Example: A solution of 77 parts by weight of techn. Octadecyl chloromethyl ether in 400 parts by weight of methylene chloride with 30 parts by weight of anhydrous potassium acetate and heated to the boil for 10 hours while stirring.
The KCl formed is filtered off and the solvent is distilled off. For purification, the ester obtained is recrystallized from methanol. It is a colorless, low-melting mass.
