Description

  Procedure for heat quantity measurement.

Patent No. 193668 relates to a method of counting heat. When carrying out this method, among other things, the different solubility of gases or liquids at different temperatures in a liquid, the so-called barrier means, and the diffusion of these gases or liquids through this barrier means. In this way, counting speeds can be achieved that are proportional to the temperature difference at the two legs of the counter tube, regardless of the tube's temperature. This avoids the very wesenü union errors of known heat meters that are based on the evaporation rate of a liquid, which increases exponentially with temperature.

However, it has been shown that the measurement is subject to errors due to the old, largely unknown dependence of the diffusion constant on the temperature when using certain substances.

There is usually a certain temperature dependency when using a uniform liquid as a barrier means, that is to say as a diffusion resistance, and the selection of the defect-free pairs of substances is extremely difficult or extremely difficult. the number of them is very limited.

Because a solution is used as the liquid barrier agent according to the invention, through which the substance diffuses, the stated error can be avoided. The solution of one liquid in another, that is, a mixture of two liquids or the solution of one or more solid substances in one liquid, can be used. It is up to you to make the temperature dependence of the counting process disappear completely by the type and amount of the substance dissolved in the solution. Ethane, for example, can be used as a diffusing substance. The gas volume is at least half as large as the liquid volume.

Gases which diffuse through liquids have shown to be particularly suitable as counting means. But if you use ethane as a diffusing substance and pure water as a barrier fluid, it shows that the counting speed increases as the temperature rises.

This increase can be dampened by adding a small amount of ethyl alcohol to the water and reversed into the opposite by adding a larger amount. With the correct mixing ratio of water and ethyl alcohol, the diffusion speed is therefore independent of the temperature. The same effect can be achieved by dissolving ralium halides, especially potassium iodide, in water.

In an advantageous embodiment, a composition of the solution serving as a blocking agent is provided such that the vapor pressure is of the order of magnitude of the vapor pressure of water, a gas being used as the diffusing substance. The main amount of the gas is expediently arranged within a hollow body that conducts heat well in such a way that practically no temperature difference occurs in it.

A mixture of either two liquids or two gases can be used as the diffusing substance. In this case, one only has to take into account that this mixture is segregated as a result of the different solubilities in the blocking agent, which also changes the scale characteristics accordingly.

The use of alcohol-water mixtures as a sealing liquid has another advantage. The gases generally have a significantly lower solubility at higher temperatures than at low temperatures, so that one usually obtains a counter sensitivity which decreases with increasing temperature. If you now use liquids that have a noticeable vapor pressure, this causes. If a measuring vessel with two legs is used, in the leg of the low temperature there is a compression of the gas used for diffusion compared to the other leg, because the total pressure in both legs is the same except for the difference in the liquid columns, but the vapor pressure of the solution is different at different temperatures .

For this reason, the partial pressures of the gas must also differ in both legs. This causes an additional diffusion, which increases according to the vapor pressure curve of the solvent with increasing temperature. In this way, the sum of the two individual factors that determine the counting speed can result in a constant counting sensitivity far more independent of the temperature than when using a liquid without vapor pressure.

In particular, for the system athan in water with admixtures of ethyl alcohol, the counting speed is completely independent of the temperature.

In the drawing, an embodiment of the counter forming the subject of the invention is shown. The U-shaped, closed measuring vessel, FIGS. 1 and 2, has a leg 1, the so-called measuring tube, of small cross-section, which is kept at a low temperature and whose meniscus position 2 indicates the amount of heat consumed. The measuring tube contains the space part 3 above the barrier liquid for receiving the substance to be transported, which is filled with ethane, which dissolves according to its partial pressure in the barrier liquid, which is, for example, an ethyl alcohol-water mixture (solution), and in the others Leg diffuses in as soon as there is a temperature difference.

In the excretion vessel 4, which is kept at a higher temperature by the part 5 of the housing attached directly to the radiator, the gas is separated out again and enters the equalization vessel 6, which is the part of the space for receiving the transported substance.

The cross section of 6 is larger than that of 1. In order to bring about a separation of the gas in the space 4 and to avoid any oversaturation, a small gas chamber 7 is provided in the upper part of this space, which is formed in such a way that the connecting pipe 8 protrudes somewhat into space 4 to compensate tank 6. This creates a kind of overflow which, together with the inherently small volume of the gas chamber 7, which should be less than approximately t / lo of the total volume, ensures that the change in volume that occurs due to the liquid vapor tension when the temperature changes is as small as possible.

For the same reason, namely to make the liquid level in the measuring tube 1 largely independent of the prevailing temperature, the total liquid volume is kept as small as possible, as is the volume of the measuring tube 1, whose meniscus position serves as a counter display. Conversely, the volume of the compensation vessel 6 is made large in relation to this, for example slightly larger than the volume of the liquid present, so that it essentially enters the space 6 when it expands and influences the volume in the measuring tube 1 as little as possible. For the same reason, the gas volume is expediently made larger, but at least half as large as the liquid volume.

The equalizing vessel and the measuring tube 1 are housed in a common metal shell 9 so that both are as precisely as possible at the same temperature. A back diffusion of the gas present in 6 is avoided, however, in that the connecting pipe 8 after the hotter part has such a small cross section that it offers a comparatively high diffusion resistance.

The fixed part 10 of the housing 5, 9, 10 carries the front part 9, rotatable about the axis 11, which, as mentioned, is designed as a common casing for the measuring tube 1 and the equalizing vessel 6. The housing is connected to the radiator by part 5, which rests directly on each radiator, with parts 9 and 10 together being one main part and part 5 being the main part of the common heat-conducting part surrounding the measuring vessel Represent housing.

Heat insulators 12 are provided between parts 5 and 10 of the housing, so the two main parts are connected to one another via thermal insulation, whereby the thermal contact that is established between these two parts by screws 13 serving as heat conduction elements by means of their screw-in depth is changeable. This has the advantage that the counter can be precisely adjusted to the sensitivity of the measuring tube, which setting has to be made on a case-by-case basis if the measuring vessels are not quite evenly sensitive to counting during manufacture.

This described arrangement of the housing 5, 9, 10, in contrast to previous meters, achieves a heat flow measurement and thus the display of the actual consumption, since the housing part 9, 10 with the colder part 1 of the measuring vessel is only slightly deeper Temperature has as the iE radiator surface, while the highly thermally conductive part 5, which encloses the excretion vessel 4 in a jacket-like manner, reaches the temperature of the radiator with the latter.

In order to avoid heat loss of the part 5, Ider is completely overlapped by the fixed, somewhat colder part 10 of the housing as possible, and that by an insulation or air layer 12 from him. The front tiltable part 9 is designed in such a way that it rests against the fixed part 10 with the largest possible metal-formed surfaces 17 (FIG. 2). In order to establish good thermal contact between these surfaces, the tiltable part 9 is wedge-shaped and made of good heat-conducting metal and is pressed firmly against the housing part 10, which is also made of good heat-conducting metal, when the meter is closed.

The glass pane 14 located in the front part of the meter would, since it is located in the immediate vicinity of the measuring tube 1. as a poor conductor of heat, allow for incorrect measurements. For this reason, the measuring tube 1 is surrounded by a slotted aluminum tube 15 in such a way that only the small seated seat remains open at the front for recognizing the meniscus. The metal sleeve can expediently serve as a carrier for the scale.

It is brought into good thermal contact with the tiltable part 9 at its upper end by screwing or pressing.

In detail, the task of the construction parts described above is to ensure that the measuring vessel has the same temperature everywhere inside the housing 5, 9, 10 that emits the heat to the outside, with the exception of the liquid surface, which is largely protected from heat emission, at the overflow point facing the radiator (Elimination vessel 4).

Through all of these measures is achieved. that the measuring vessel is exposed to a temperature difference that is the same as that which occurs within the heat-conducting connection of the two main parts 5 and 9, 10 of the housing, which have different temperatures. The temperature difference between the two main parts of the building, multiplied by a dimension constant and the conductivity of the screw material, indicates the heat flow through the meter. It is naturally equal to the amount of heat given off to the outside by the housing, regardless of the heat transfer occurring at the radiator, and is therefore a measure of the heat transfer.

The reset of the zero point after counting is achieved by tilting the front housing part 9 about the axis 11 to the horizontal, the barrier liquid flowing from the measuring tube 1 into the compensating vessel 6, following the gravity.

To make it easier to refill the measuring tube with gas, the two legs of the vessel are not arranged completely parallel, but their axes intersect at a very acute angle below the meter. In the tilted state, the measuring tube therefore still has an inclination towards the connecting tube when the other leg 4, 8.

6 is horizontal, which makes it easier for the liquid to drain off. Since the connecting pipe 8 has only a small cross-section between 4 and 6, this transfer would cause difficulties due to the surface tension, and a glass fade 16 is therefore provided in this connecting pipe, which in a known manner has a non-uniform, i.e. deviating cross-section of the pipe. Furthermore, the connecting part 20 of the two legs of the measuring vessel is arranged at an angle to the direction of the legs, specifically in such a way that it forms an acute angle with the measuring tube.

This creates a kind of overflow for the gas in the tilted state, and the same zero point is always set, i.e. the starting point of the measuring scale in the bend of the pipe. Due to the configuration shown, no air cushion can form in the connecting part 20 when it is tilted. The excess gas, which rises up in the other leg, is caught in the overflow 7, filling it, and rises into the equalizing vessel 6, with which the meter becomes operational again. As can be seen, the colder part 9, 10 of the housing engages around the warmer part 5 of the same.

The pipe part which connects the separation vessel 4 to the gas pipe 1 extends downwardly from the separation vessel 4. in such a way that a convex exchange of heat between the liquid in the vessel and the liquid in the gas pipe, which is colder than it, is avoided. The part 5 partially surrounds the vessel 4.

In the tilted state, the measuring tube therefore still has an inclination towards the connecting tube when the other leg 4, 8. 6 waagrecht liegt, wodurch das Abfliessen der Flüssigkeit besser gelingt. 6 is horizontal, which makes it easier for the liquid to drain off. Since the connecting pipe 8 has only a small cross-section between 4 and 6, this transfer would cause difficulties due to the surface tension, and a glass fade 16 is therefore provided in this connecting pipe which, in a known manner, has a non-uniform cross-section, i.e. a cross-section deviating from the circular shape of the pipe. PATENTANSFRCCHE; I.
