Description
The present invention relates to a Koehler furnace. Such ovens are used to produce charcoal. The accompanying drawing illustrates an embodiment of the subject matter of the invention, namely: FIG. 1 is a front view, FIG. 2 is a sectional side view and FIG. 3 is a plan view of the furnace.
In the drawing, 1 is a brick housing, e.g. B. made of brick. 2 is a Kes sel in the housing 1, which is arranged so that a cavity 3 remains between the housing 1 and the boiler. The boiler sits on the supports 4, with a fire hole 5 under the boiler floor. The kettle serves as a charring space 6. 7 is the lid of the kettle. The lid is attached by means of a cross rod 8, two brackets 9 and the screw 10 on the boiler. 1.1 is the smoke exhaust pipe. 12 is a grate provided inside the boiler on its bottom. The fire hole 5 is used for heating. 13 is an exhaust pipe that connects the upper space of the boiler with the fire hole 5. Instead of being square, the kettle can also be round.
The commissioning and operation of the furnace is as follows: The boiler 1 is filled with air-dry wood, e.g. B. waste wood, chips, etc. filled. The boiler is then firmly closed by means of the cover 7 by the cross rod 8, the bracket 9 and the screw 10. A fire is then made in the fire hole 5, which is filled with easily combustible material. For better utilization of the fire and thus to "improve" the gasification process, openings not shown serve between the cavity 3 and the fire hole 5 and the exhaust pipe 11. The fire in the fire hole must be about 11/2 to 2 hours with easily combustible material be stoked. After this time, gas forms in the boiler, which is passed through the exhaust pipe 13 to the fire hole 5 and is used to control the boiler.
After about 5 hours, when the gas formation stops, the gas pipe 13 can be removed and the thus released pipe opening of the boiler can be closed by a wooden plug until the furnace has cooled down. The charcoals are then ready to use.
