Electron tube with a photocathode and a secondary emission electrode, and a method for manufacturing such a tube. The invention relates to an electron tube with an electrode system which, venigatens has a plhoto, electrical electrode and at least one secondary emission electrode,
as well as a method for producing such. Tube.
Tubes that contain a photocathode and one or more secondary emission electrodes are known and are generally used to obtain a large gain in a simple manner. The secondary emission electrodes in,
such tubes usually consist of a base of any suitable metal, e.g. B. nickel, which has an active .Schicht, which has the actual secondary emission capability, is applied.
The effective layer on such electrodes can consist of very different substances; one of the best known is cesium metal. However, it is also known to use oxides of other alkali metals or oxides of alkaline earth metals.
Photoactive electrodes are produced in general and also in such secondary emission tubes by placing a suitable metal, e.g. B.
Silver, an example of one of the alkali metals, especially cesium, existing effective layer is arranged. In many cases, the substrate is emitted before the actual. Substance after being oxidized. As a result, when the emitting substance is applied, some of it will be converted into oxide.
The complete electrode then consists of a metal base, an oxide layer and an effective layer consisting of the emitting metal together with the oxide of this metal.
As can be seen from the above, it is possible both for photoelectric electrodes and for Siekundäremissons- electraden to use the same active substance, e.g. B. alkali metal to be used. The activation was therefore in a single. Machining in the same tube leads.
It turned out, however, that the requirements that are to be made of a secondary emission electrode with regard to its composition are not entirely the same as those that are to be made of a photoelectric electrode. Thereby,
that the activation of the two types of electrodes was carried out in a single tube in your single processing, either the photo emission or the secondary emission remained low.
The electron tube according to the invention has an electrode system which contains at least one photoelectric electrode and at least one secondary emission electrode, and in which there is a layer of an alloy consisting of at least one of the elements on the base of these two types of electrodes Atomic numbers higher than 15 of group Vb:
of the periodic system of the elements and at least one of the alkali metals exists in such a way that the ratio of the total amount of alkali metal to the total amount of the other alloy component on the photoelectric electrode is greater than on the secondary emission electrode.
The elements with atomic numbers higher than 15 of group Vb of the periodic system of the elements are arsenic, antimony and bismuth.
Through the alloying, alkali metals. with antimony, Artyen or bismuth and the choice of the ratio: this, as described above, the advantage is achieved that both the secondary emission and the plhotoemission attain a high value, and that a very simple production method is nevertheless possible.
Advantageously, the ratio of the total amount of alkali metal to the total amount of the other alloy constituent for the photoelectric electrode (s) is chosen to be twice as large as that for the secondary emissive electrode (s).
According to the method of the invention, the base of the secondary emission electrode (s) and the photoelectric electrode (s) is provided with a layer consisting of at least one of the elements with atomic numbers higher than 15 of group Vb of the periodic system of elements overdrawn.

After the alkali metal has been vapor-deposited onto the electrodes, the tube is kept at a fairly high temperature for a certain time. A temperature of 150 to 170 ° C. is preferably selected. The time during which the electrodes are kept at this temperature is chosen so that the photo emission has reached its maximum value.
By choosing the different thicknesses of the arsenic, antimony or bismuth layer, the secondary emission of the electrodes intended for this has also reached the maximum. Of course, you can also take the S, ekundiremi, ssion as a measure and continue the so-called "baking" of the tube until it has reached its maximum.
The two methods deliver the same result.
It has been shown that the amount of alkali metal absorbed by the arsia, antimony or bismuth layer is independent of the thickness of this layer. So if a certain amount of alkali vapor is present in the tube when it is activated, both the photoelectrodes and the secondary emission electrode will take up a certain amount of alkali vapor.
Because the thickness of the arsenic, antimony or wismuth layer of the secondary emission electrodes is greater than that of the photoelectric electrodes, the relative amount of cesium in the first-mentioned electrodes is smaller than in the photoelectric electrodes.
