Description
Engine with cylinders facing each other on both sides of the crankshaft. In order to make full use of the engine compartment provided for the engine mounted in the vehicle, engines have already been proposed in which the cylinders BEZW each other in one or more superimposed levels. are arranged in mutually inclined planes intersecting in the axis of the crankshaft.
The last-mentioned arrangement has the advantage that at. the same number of cylinders, in contrast to an engine with cylinders lying one above the other in two levels, only a single crankshaft is arranged, so that the construction is significantly cheaper. The invention relates to such a motor and be designed such a design of the crankshaft that the distribution of the work cycles over the circuit is quite regular, although the cylinders are in different planes.
According to the invention, the crank pins are arranged in two planes inclined at the same angle to one another and the connecting rods are connected to these pins in such a way that the connecting rods are in the planes of the cylinders in the dead center positions of the pistons. The accompanying drawing illustrates schematically an embodiment of the subject invention. In the crankcase 1 of the engine on which the cylinder 2 lie in two mutually inclined planes 1-I and II-II, the crankshaft 3 is mounted in the intersection of these planes.
The pin 4 of the cure belwelle 3 are not in one plane, but alternately in the levels 1-I and II-II, depending on which cylinder the pin in question belongs to. As can be seen from the drawing, so the connecting rods 5 are connected to the pin 4 so ruled out that in the dead center positions of the piston, the connecting rods in the plane I-I respectively. II-II of the cylinder lie.
