Description

  Means for combating plant pests.

Various toxins are known which, dissolved or slurried in any liquid, are used for spraying plants to control pests. It has been shown that some particularly effective contact poisons can be used with advantage to control certain insects, but at the same time they have proven ineffective against a. Proven to change articulated animals, e.g. B. against Tetranychidae and insects that are covered by a layer of wax.

Experiments have now led to the previously unproven knowledge that a mixture of a cellulose derivative with at least one halogen derivative of a hydrocarbon acting as an Eontaktgiftstoff is a very effective means of combating plant pests, which is effective against all types of insects, even if they are in addition to wearing chitin clothing, nooh wear a layer of wax, such as B. Aleurodidae and Schizoneura la. nigera.

It is impossible to say with certainty what this effect is based on, but presumably the chitin and wax layers of the insects are made permeable to the molecules of the toxin by the action of the mixture mentioned.

A second, very remarkable advantage of such a mixture is that it can be kept for a long time and is miscible with water in all proportions.

A liquid of high concentration can thus be produced in the factory, which can then be diluted by the consumer himself to a sufficient degree for the purpose of producing a spray.

The mixture mentioned can be used without the addition of other toxins, since a halogen derivative, such as trichlorethylene itself, is an effective contact poison for certain insects. For general use, however, another particularly effective poison, in particular a further contact poison, should be added.

   Example:
To produce a spray liquid, 165 g of methyl cellulose are dissolved in 4200 g of water. For this purpose, 800 g of trichlorethylene and 100 g of another contact poisonous substance, e.g. B. Derris or Rotenone added. The suspension produced in this way is completely stable and can be mixed with water in any ratio.

   PATENT CLAIM 1:
Agent for combating plant pests, characterized in that it contains a cellulose derivative and at least one halogen derivative of a hydrocarbon which acts as a contact toxin.
