La pièce tubulaire 13 comporte-, comme il est bien visible sur la fig. 2, un cône conver gent 13a, puis -un cône divergent 13b, qui vient tangenter la paroi intérieure de l'enve loppe 12, )a paroi de ce cône 13b étant pour vue d'un grand nombre de fentes radiales 16;
Lighting gas burner and other combustible gases. The present invention relates to a burner for lighting gas and other combustible gases.
The present burner is preferably set up to be used in the manner of a blowtorch, i.e. as a hand-held tubular member producing at its end a very hot flame, but it can be adapted and used as a stationary burner for furnaces, crucibles and heaters of all kinds,
its possibilities of use being extended, thanks to the fact that it 'produces temperatures higher than those obtained hitherto at low pressures with the gases envisaged. Thus, thanks to the invention, it has been possible to obtain, with the lighting gas, under a low pressure of the order of 40 g per cm, a flame the temperature of which rises to 1800 C and above, allowing the fusion of a large number of metals and their welding with togene.
The object of the invention is characterized by the. combination of a gas injector with several mixing elements staggered successively between this injector and. the burner ignition orifice, inside a casing. concentrically surrounding, provided at its base with an air intake, these mixing members being established so as to produce several successive additions of air to the fuel gas, in the form of streams of air sucked through each of them by the central gas stream.
Advantageously, the device can also comprise, between the last mixing member and the ignition orifice, a static stirring member acting by contraction of the gas stream.
Finally, between this: stirring member and said ignition orifice: a flame regulator member may be placed to give the flame the desired shape, in combination or not with an end cap. The flame regulator organ may include a central Venturi-shaped duct and a ring of orifices, concentric with this central duct, and extending substantially around the median part of the central duct,: only over a part of its length.
The accompanying drawing shows, by way of example, an embodiment of the object of the invention with several variants.
Fig. 1 is a longitudinal section of a first embodiment.
Figs. 2 and 3 show, on a larger scale, in longitudinal section and end view, the detail of a mixing member.
Fig. 4. Shows, in isolation, a flame regulator.
Fig. 5 is a partial section of a variant of FIG. 1.
The fi-. 6 is a longitudinal section of another variant. As seen in the drawing (fig. 1), the apparatus comprises a handle 1, provided with a nozzle 2 for connection with the fuel gas source and including or not a valve 3, controlling the passage. gas in the central duct 4., of said handle 1.
At the inner end of this duct 4 is mounted an injector or gas nozzle 5, with calibrated orifice 6, extended by a pipe 7, provided with numerous radial slots 8, through which the gas stream sucks threads. air and which constitutes a first mixing member.
The -dispositif 5-7 is in the center of a tubular body 9 -of large section, provided with side air intake openings 10, controlled by a rotary sleeve 11, also provided with slots, forming a shutter for adjusting the air required for gas combustion and for cooling the appliance.
The body 9, attached in a sealed manner to the handle 1, can be shaped, as has been shown in the drawing, so as to serve as a support for the nozzle 5, which is mounted therein in a sealed manner. It receives, by screwing or otherwise, a tubular part 12 forming the envelope of the mixing members.
Inside this casing is arranged concentrically the tubular body - of a second mixing member 13, in the axis, from which flows - the injector-mixer system 5-7 already described, - the inlet of this tube 13 communicating freely around the mixer 7 .. with the air intake chamber inside the body 9.
The casing 13 is mounted, for example, by means of a crown 14, provided with holes 15, clamped between a shoulder of the body 9 and the end of the casing 12.
The tubular part 13 comprises, as is clearly visible in FIG. 2, a convergent cone 13a, then a divergent cone 13b, which comes tangent to the inner wall of the casing 12,) a wall of this cone 13b being seen from a large number of radial slots 16;
parallel to the axis, whereby the air sucked in from the slots 10 and passing through the holes 15, then the annular space between the casing 12 and the tube 13, will enter the diffuser cone 13b and mix intimately with the gas stream.
It will be advantageous, as we have shown. to start the slots 16 below the section of maximum contraction or section of intersection of the cones 13a and 13b.
Beyond the mixer 13-13b, inside the casing 12, a static stirring member 17 can be placed, acting by contraction of the gas stream. Following this, there is finally a flame regulator member 18, comprising a central duct 7.9 and a ring of small peripheral channels 20 which, in combination with a cap 21, will give the elongated flame visible in FIG. 1 or, employed alone; will give the more tapered flame shown in fig. 4.
Instead of using the stirring member 17, the same result can be obtained by simply bending the casing 12 between the cone 13b and the regulator 18, as has been shown in fig. 5.
The first addition of air which takes place in the member 7 transforms the gas into a combustible mixture.
The flow velocity of the combustible mixture in the duct 13 is a function of: a) the section of the orifice 6 of the nozzle, b) the number and the section of the slots 8 for the penetration of air into the nozzle. member 7 in front of this orifice, c) of the gas pressure, d) of the shape and the section of. gold 7.
The combustible mixture formed by this first addition of air projected with violence into the duct 13a of the second mixer entrains a second quantity of air coming from the "intake chamber of the body 9.
A second addition of air takes place in the converging cone 13a and a third in the cone 13b where enter, as has been said, multiple streams of air sucked through the slots 16, which are determined in number., shape and size according to the fuel used.
It will be noted that, in mixer 13b, the solid blades separating the slits guiding the fuel and preventing the vibrations which would occur in a smooth tubing.
In the member 17, stirring takes place whereby the homogeneity of the fuel mixture is further increased.
The orifices and conduits of the regulator 18, 19, 20 are determined according to the. desired flame strength, shape and length.
When this organ is used without a cap (fig. 4), the flame is very long, fixed and rigid and its temperature constant over its entire length. The combustible mixture passing through the central duct 19 of this member projects very far beyond the outlet orifice and the combustion of this mixture takes place at a distance of the order of 8 to 10 mm from this ori fice, while the combustion of the combustible mixture which passes with delay through the crown of orifices 20 takes place a few millimeters from the outlet, which profiles the flame as shown in fig. 4.
It has been found that the temperature of the organ 18, 19, 20 does not exceed 80 C, even after several hours of operation, while the flame reaches a temperature exceeding l800 C, so that one can manufacture this body of common metals such as brass.
When (fig. 1 and 5) a cap 21. is used, the diameter of the conical or straight outlet orifice is determined by the power, the shape and the length of the flame to be produced.
In the variant, embodiment of FIG: 6. there are certain members of the apparatus of FIG. 1 which are designated by the same references.
The nozzle-mixer 5-7 delivers along the axis of a converging cone 22, provided with a ring of orifices 23 through which peripheral air passes between the tube 22 and the casing 24.
The cone 22 is followed by a divergent diffuser 25, a ring of peripheral air intake orifices 26 being arranged between these two members. The diffuser 25 is followed in turn by a convergent-divergent cone 27, another ring of orifices 28 being arranged between the members 27 and 25 for another peripheral air intake.
The device ends with a cap 29. In this device, four successive additions of air to the gaseous fuel are thus made.
