Description

Time dial and process for its manufacture. The present invention relates to a time dial which is characterized in that it comprises a metal plate having parts in relief formed, by stamping wise and some of which at least have a decoration, these parts in relief constituting the time signs. ..

The invention also comprises a process for the manufacture of this dial and which e: t, characterized in that, by stamping, parts in relief are formed in a metal plate intended to constitute the body, of the dial, to the sides. places that the hour signs must occupy on the finished dial.

The appended drawing shows, by way of example and partially, one embodiment of the dial according to the invention, and it also illustrates, by way of example, an implementation of the method.

Fig. 1 is a perspective view, on a very large scale, of a part of the dial, a portion of the latter being cut away. This figure relates to the first phase of the manufacturing process.

Fig. \? represents, in plan, a time sign of the finished dial.

For the manufacture of the dial to which. refers to the drawing, the procedure is as follows: In a metal plate 1 having the shape that the finished dial must have, embossed parts 2 are produced by stamping at the places which the hour signs must occupy on the dial finished. In fig. 1, only a part of the dial is shown on which appears one of the raised parts 2.

Then, by means of a punch for example, at least some of the parts 2 are worked to form a decoration on them, so that these parts in relief constitute shaped decorative elements representing the hour signs.

In the plan view,: according to fig. 2, -an example of this shaping has been shown which gives part 2, -when finished, the appearance of a star. Of course, the parts 3 located between the branches 4 of this star are hollow. The central region 5 is also hollowed out.

It is understood that the shape given to part 2 by the work with a punch or with another tool may be different from that shown in FIG. 2; likewise, it is not necessary that all the hourly signs be worked on nor that they all be. of the same shape - and worked in the same way.

In a variant, it would also be possible to make decorations by stamping, at the same time as the raised parts 2. In this case, there would therefore be no shaping work by hand using a tool. One could also rough out by stamping, during the formation of two relief parts 2, 1! A decoration of these relief parts, and finish this decoration by working by hand with a tool.
