Briquet pyrophorique.
Quand la partie de cette mèche extérieure au porte-mèche est brûlée, il faut la. faire :sortir à nouveau pour pouvoir l'allumer, Dansce but, ou dévisse le bouchon de remplissage 14 encore muni de son disque 20 du briquet, et on engage l'ou verture 21 de ce disque sur la partie 7" de même contour de la pièce intérieure 2 du porte-mèche;
Pyrophoric lighter. The lighter which is the subject of the present invention comprises a wick holder which must allow the. wick of the cap when burnt to the brim. of it and replace a bit that has become too short.
The drawing represents, schematically, an exemplary embodiment of the bit holder and of a means for operating it. In fig. 1, the bit holder is shown in elevation and in axial section, in FIG. 2 in top view of the outlet side of the wick, in FIG. 3 in view of the entry side of the wick. Fig. 4 shows, in partial axial section, the filling plug of the lighter used as a means of maneuvering the wick holder, and the fi.-. to a view from below of said plug.
1. designates the, outer part and 2 the inner part that comprises the wick holder, 3 the body of the lighter. The outer part is provided with a peripheral thread 4 by means of which said part is mounted in the body of the lighter 3. This part is furthermore provided with a cylindrical cavity passing through it axially from side to side, of which the . part 5 adjacent to the interior of the lighter is provided with a groove 6 shown in section in FIG. 3.
whose. the edges 6 'are parallel to. the axis of the cavity 5 and the teeth 6 "of which are inclined with respect to the radius of the cavity passing through said ridges. The other part 5 'of this cavity serves as a gently rubbing housing for the cylindrical part 7 of the inner part provided with a peripheral groove 7 'in which the end 8 of a screw 9, 9' is engaged, screwed radially into the body of the part 1.
In the lower part of the. A cylindrical axial cavity 10 is formed with a right-hand thread 11: the face 12 of the teeth of which is less inclined with respect to the axis of the cavity than the opposite face of said tooth.
The outer contour of the upper part 7 "of the part 2 has the shape shown in plan in Fig. 2. In the face of the outer part 1 facing the outside of the lighter are formed radial notches 1.3. 1.4 designates the lighter's filling plug, in the form of a cylinder hollowed out with a cavity 15 and fitted with a crown 16 of my work to screw it into the body 3 of the lighter by means of the thread 17. At its lower part , this stopper has two eyelets 18 and 18 'housed in incisions of the same section:
straight line 19 and 19 'of a metal disc 20 pierced with a centered opening 21 having the same contour as part 7 "of the inner part,'. The diameter of the cavity 15 of the plug 14 is such that the eyelets 18 and 18 'can be engaged in the notches 13 of the exterior part 1.
This is how the wick holder is operated using the filler plug: The wick 22 is housed in the axial cavities of the parts 1 and 2 which are an extension of one another.
When the part of this wick outside the wick holder is burnt, it must be. do: take it out again to be able to light it, For this purpose, or unscrew the filler cap 14 still fitted with its disk 20 from the lighter, and the opening 21 of this disk is engaged on part 7 "of the same contour of the inner part 2 of the bit holder;
this filler cap and its disc then occupy the position shown - partially to the right - in broken lines in FIG. 1. The cap 14 and, consequently, the part 2, are then rotated in the direction of clockwise movement.
Consequently, the bit 22, engaged in the thread 11,: is entralinée towards the exit of the part 7 "of the part 2 due to the particular shape of the profile: of the: teeth: of the thread 11, </ B> and without the bit being able to turn on itself, due to the conformation of the teeth 6 "of the spline 6.
If the wick has become too short to plunge sufficiently into the body of the bri quet, the disc 20 is removed from the end of the stopper 14 and the end thus released is engaged on part 7 "of part 2 until that the eyebolts 18 and 18 'at this end enter: the notches 13 - on the exterior face of the lighter of part 1 (position shown in dotted lines, on the left). Then, by turning this plug 14, the wick holder is unscrewed from the body of the lighter.
The screws 13 are unscrewed and the inner part 2 which comes out of 1 with the bit 22 is pulled axially, because the groove 6 does not prevent the axial movement of the bit. The drill bit is removed by axially pulling on it and rotating part 2 axially in the direction of clockwise movement.
Then a new bit is introduced into 2 through the bans of the thread 11 by rotating the part 2. In the same direction as earlier, then the bit is forced into the groove 6. This done, we reassemble the holder. wick in the body of the lighter by means of: the plug 14, after which the plug 14 is replaced.
The screws 13 could be replaced by a removable spring, for example, housed both in the body of the part 1 and in the peripheral groove 7 ', or by any other member satisfying the same operating conditions of the part 2 in part 1, one could also imagine means other than the filler cap to operate parts 1 and 2, as well as other means of fixing the wick holder in the body of the lighter.
