Description

Sheathed welding wire made of niobium-containing, rust, acid and grain decay resistant chrome-nickel steel. As is known, austenitic chromium-nickel steels are advantageously added to niobium in order to avoid grain disintegration, specifically in a certain ratio to the respective carbon content; Welding wires made from chromium or chromium-nickel steels of the same type with an addition of niobium have also been used for welding corrosion-resistant chromium or chromium-nickel steels, the amount of niobium depending on the respective carbon content of the alloys .

There were also austenitic welding wires for high-strength welded joints of high fatigue strength suggested that contain not only niobium, but also aluminum, manganese and tantalum at the same time, the additives mentioned must be used in certain ratios to one another.

The present invention specifies welding wires with which the hot cracks of the weld metal that occur particularly frequently when welding rust, acid and grain breakdown resistant chromium-nickel steels can be avoided.

It was found that welded joints made with wires made of austenitic chromium-nickel steels with a niobium additive show hot cracks when their niobium content is below a certain minimum content, and hot cracks in The weld metal is no longer present when the weld metal has a minimum content of 0.9% niobium with the simultaneous presence of at least 0.6% manganese. All weld seams alloyed beyond these limits show no hot cracks.

The present invention therefore relates to a covered welding wire made of niobium-containing, rust, acid and grain breakdown resistant chromium-nickel steel with at least 0.6% manganese and at least 0.9% niobium. The core wire of such a welding wire can contain: up to 0.15% carbon, up to 0.8 0 / o silicon, 0.6 to 4.0% manganese, 14 , 0 to 26.0 0 / o chromium, 2.0 to 14.0 0 / o nickel and 0.9 to 10.00; o niobium.

The burn-off of the additives of niobium and manganese during welding can be done either by choosing a correspondingly higher alloy content in the core wire within the specified limits or by appropriate additives to the sheath of the welding wire, which z. B. can be a known lime base, compensate. For example, metal additives of 1.0 to 10.0% niobium and 1.0 to 5.0% manganese can be added to the sheath if the core wires contain niobium and manganese in the minimum contents specified above.
