Tour automatique.
(fig.
Cette came agit (fig.
Automatic lathe. The present invention relates to an automatic lathe comprising itself all of or ganes which cooperate with each other so as to allow the shaping of manually invoiced products of simple shape starting from a bar with a round profile , hexagonal or other. The object of the invention is to create an automatic lathe in which the transmissions between the control member and the controlled member take place in a single plane or in two perpendicular planes so as to avoid any lateral force.
Said automatic lathe is, according to the invention, characterized by the fact that the single camshaft is placed transversely with respect to the axis of the machine and by the fact that this camshaft is driven, via a worm gear, the control cams being distributed on their axis on either side of this gear.
The appended drawing and the description below relate to an embodiment chosen by way of example.
Fig. 1 is a front elevational view.
Fig. 2 is an end view, engine side, in elevation.
Fig. 3 is a rear view in elevation. Fig. 4 is an end view in elevation, from the side of the carriages.
Fig. 5 is a view on a larger scale, in plan, of the control of the horizontal chariots.
Fig. 6 shows a detail of this command in elevation.
Fig. 7 is a view of the clutch mechanism and of the control of the worm, and FIG. 8 shows in longitudinal section the spindle holder.
In the frame 1 is an electric motor 2 fixed on a tilting plate 3 (fig. 1 and \. :) articulated at 4 on a fixed base 5. The oscillation amplitude of the plate 3 is determined by a screw adjustment 6, the position of plate 3 being locked by means of a nut 7.
A pulley 8, wedged on the shaft of the motor 2, directly controls, through the intermediary of the belt 9, the pulley 11 for driving the spindle. The pulleys 8 and 11 can have variable diameter ratios so as to allow a varied range of speeds for the rotation of the spindle.
The pulley 11 is integral with a pulley 12 which, by means of the belt 13, ensures the rotation of the pulley 14 integral with the pulley 15 which, by means of the belt 16, drives the pulley 17 which de ends the rotation of the shaft 18 carrying the worm 19 meshing with the hollow wheel 21 wedged on the camshaft 22 which carries the series of cams 23, 24, 25, 26, 27, 28 which respectively control, in order, the clamping of the bar, the clamping of the bar, the movements of the carriages, the movements of the headstock, the movements of the upper tool and the movements of the separator.
The worm 19 is controlled as follows: The pulley 17 is mounted loose on the shaft 18; but it is integral with one of the parts 29 of a friction clutch, the other part 31 of which is integral with the shaft 18. This clutch is controlled by the lever 32 actuated by the hand lever 33. When the Friction clutch 29, 31 is engaged, its position is ensured by the engagement spout 34 integral with the lever 32, in engagement with the engagement spout 35 integral with the lever 36, the role of which will be explained.
The worm 19 can slide without turning on the shaft 18. It is biased towards the right, that is to say towards its engagement position with the hollow wheel 21, by a strong calibrated compression spring 37 interposed. between this screw and the clutch part 31. A roller 38 mounted at the end of the lever 36, comes to rest on the edge of the screw 19 under the action of a spring 39. In the case of 'an abnormal force of the operation of any member of the machine, the worm 19 is biased to the left, and, as soon as the compression of the spring 37 is exceeded, this screw acts on the lever 36 whose spout in engagement 35 releases the spout 34. The lever 32, biased by the spring 41, disengages the shaft 18.
The camshaft 22 therefore stops rotating. We thus have a torque limiter.
At the end of the shaft 18 is an angle transmission 42 by bevel gears. One of these pinions is controlled by the end of the shaft 43 provided with a crank 44 which makes it possible to turn the worm 19 and, consequently, the camshaft 22 by hand when the clutch friction 29, 31 est. dis brayed. This crank will be used in particular for the successive adjustment of the lathe components or for a non-automatic production test.
We will now examine the operation of the various cams. The cams 23 and 24 serve, as has been said, for the tightening and tightening of the bar.
To this end, these two cams cooperate. (Fig. 1) with a lever 45 articulated at a fixed point at 46 and carrying in two different planes a roller 47 which cooperates with the cam 23 and a roller 48 which cooperates with the cam 24. The roller 45 is, on the other hand hand, articulated, at its end, with the curved connecting rod 49 acting on the bell lever 51 itself coupled to the lever 52 which determines, by means of not shown yokes, the movements of the sleeve 53 (fig. 8) ) tightening control.
This sleeve acts as usual on the tail of the dogs 54 which serve as a support for the part 55 which can be moved longitudinally in order to ensure the tightening and loosening of the split clamp 56 which acts on the bar threaded into the bar. spindle 57 which is rotated, by a so-called rod drive, by pulley 11, spindle 5 7 therefore being able to move longitudinally relative to this pulley. The bar can then pass through a barrel 58 mounted in the frame of the lathe. The carne 25 is intended for the so-called plunge control of the horizontal carriages 61, 62.
These two carriages are coupled to one another by a coupling link constituted by a rod 63 (FIG. 5, where this rod is shown cut). The carriage 61 is more particularly assigned to the shaping of the part, while the carriage 62 serves as a support for the cutting tool. A piston 64 is integral with the carriage 62 during the movements of this carriage, but can be adjusted with respect to it by means of an appropriate vernier system. This piston carries a roller 65 on which acts the beak of a lever 66 on which acts a piston 67 actuated by a lever 68 (see FIG. 6) subjected to the action of the cam 25.
The movements of the carriages 61, 62 can also be obtained in a different manner, by means of a reproduceur. This reproducer (FIG. 5) consists of a piston 69 having an appropriate profile which reproduces the external configuration of the part to be obtained. The piston acts on a ga let 71 fixed to the piston 64, which, as has been said, is integral with the carriage 62. In its turn, the piston 69 is driven by the movements of the sliding headstock, the control of which will vary. be indicated below.
It goes without saying that when one wishes to proceed with the cam control, the reproducing piston 69 is temporarily removed.
The cam 26 determines, as has been said, the movements of the doll formed (fig. 8) by the carriage 72. This cam acts (fig. 3) on a roller 73 integral with a triangular lever 74, whose. one of the vertices is articulated at a fixed point at 75, and which has a slide 76 in which is engaged a button 77 which determines the movements of the doll carriage 72 (FIG. 8).
The cam 27 acts on a roller 78 mounted at the articulation of a lever 19 rotating around the fixed axis 75, and of a ball 81 acting on a lever 82 pivoted at 83 on the frame of the lathe and having a tail 84 which acts on the vertical carriage 85 of the upper tool.
The lathe further comprises (fig. 5) a part separator, intended to separate the part from the chips, this separator consists of a channel 86 fixed in an arm 87 wedged on a piston 88 capable of sliding in the frame and attacked by a lever 89 pivoted at a fixed point and subjected to the action of the last cam 28 mounted on the camshaft 22.
The lathe which has been described above has a longitudi nal displacement headstock, for work or barrel, but it can also be performed with a fixed headstock, the work being done directly flush with the collet.
