Ozonisierungsapparat.
Fig.2 ist eine Stirnansicht zu Fig.1.
Ozonizer. The present invention relates to an ozonization apparatus with at least one ozonization element, which has a ring-shaped glow discharge space between two coaxial electrodes and at least one dielectric connected between the electrodes and is designed so that an oxygen-containing, gaseous medium is passed through the discharge space can.
It is known that in ozonization apparatuses of this type a silent glow discharge takes place in the ring between the electrodes mentioned when the electrodes of the ozonization apparatus are connected to a high-voltage source, the dielectric preventing the occurrence of a spark discharge. Oxygen flowing through the discharge space is partially converted into ozone.
The apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that at least the inside of the electrodes is formed by a metal body which has a dielectric coating on its side facing the discharge space.
In the accompanying drawing, two embodiments of the subject invention are illustrated.
Fig. 1 shows an ozonizing apparatus according to a first embodiment, partly in elevation and partly in section.
Fig.2 is an end view of Fig.1. Fig. 3 is a vertical section through an ozonizing element of an apparatus according to a second embodiment, and Fig. 4 is a cross section through this ozonizing element.
The ozonization apparatus according to FIGS. 1 and 2 has a housing a which is provided with lateral fastening flanges and in which three ozonization elements are mounted, one of which is shown in longitudinal section in FIG. This ozonization element has two coaxial cylindrical hollow bodies which together form an annular space and of which the outer one is formed by a glass tube b and the inner one by a metal tube c.
The metal pipe c is. the inner electrode and is hen on its outside with a thin, sprayed-on insulating coating consisting of a ceramic mass or enamel. The outside of the glass tube b has a thin metal coating (not shown) which forms the outer electrode of the ozonization element.
The inner tube c and the metal coating of the glass tube b can be connected to a high voltage source, for example to the secondary winding of a transformer, by means of lines not shown here, and thus form two glow electrodes (electrode and counter electrode), between which, when the apparatus is in operation, a glow unloading takes place.
The insulating coating on the inner tube c and the glass tube each form a dielectric between the electrodes. The metal tube c is seen at its two ends with a closure piece cl or e2, which is penetrated by a bolt d lying in the tube axis, by means of which the inner metal tube c relative to the outer glass tube b by means of centering means not further described here is centered from insulating material.
Coaxially to the two tubes, a cylindrical cap piece e is provided at the lower end of the same, the wall of which is provided with air access slots. The entire closure at this end of the pipe is designed so that air entering through these slots enters the annular space formed by the two pipes b and c. At the other end of the two tubes, air discharge means are provided to which the suction line of a pump is connected.
The sucked in air is forced to flow through the ring between the two tube electrons b and c and is ozonated in the process. If this ozonated air is to be used for the sterilization of water, this air flow is directed into the water to be made sterile.
In FIGS. 3 and 4, an ozonization element belonging to another apparatus is illustrated. This element in turn has two coaxial tubular electrodes m and n, which are made of metal, for example steel.
The inner tube electrode m 1 is closed at both ends, while air supply and air discharge means are again provided at the two ends of the outer tube electrode n, the design of which can be readily seen from FIG. In the annulus between the two tubular electrodes 7n and n is a best existing glass coil o is provided, the ends of which are closed and which is filled with mercury ge.
At the air inlet end of the ozonization element, the end of the coiled tubing is guided to the outside through the housing surrounding the ozonization elements. The closed end of the tube is penetrated by a conductor (not shown) that makes contact with the mercury, which is also connected to one terminal of the secondary winding of a high-voltage transformer to operate the apparatus, while the two tube electrodes are also not connected to the two tube electrodes in FIG. 3 Lei ter shown are connected to the other terminal of the transformer.
The mercury coil in the coiled tubing thus forms the common counterelectrode to the two tubular electrodes .m and n., Of which the outer one is provided on its inside and the inner one on its outer side with a sprayed-on insulating coating made of a ceramic compound or enamel.
When these three electrodes are energized when the apparatus is in operation, a glow discharge takes place between the mercury snake on the one hand and the two metal pipes 7n and n on the other, so that the air which is passed through the annular space formed by these two latter is ozonated, as mentioned above to be used to sanitize water if necessary.
