Leuchtschirm.
Luminescent screen. The invention relates to a fluorescent screen which contains calcium orthophosphate activated with thallium.
A luminescent substance has already been described which consists of alkaline earth phosphate activated with thallium. Such a substance results when irradiated with short-wave ultraviolet rays (z. B. 2537 A) an emission between 2900 and 3700 A. with a maximum of about 3350 A. Visible radiation is practically not generated by such a substance. It is therefore ideally suited for radiation sources that are supposed to emanate the part of the spectrum that causes erythema.
It is known that the maximum effect of the erythema-producing radiation is around 2967 Å. The well-known substances described above have a maximum emission that is essentially next to this maximum erythema sensitivity. A luminescent screen according to the invention now contains a substance that meets the requirement; that the two maxima should coincide as much as possible, better fulfilled.
A luminescent screen according to the invention contains calcium orthophosphate which is activated with thalium and also contains altuninium in the crystal lattice, the atomic ratio between the sum of the elements calcium, aluminum and thallium and the amount of phosphorus being between 3: 2 and 2, 4: 2 and the atomic ratio between aluminum and thallium is between 0.5: 1 and 2:
1. lies.
Excellent results are achieved when the first-mentioned ratio of 2.9: 2 is selected.
The maximum emission of a substance for a screen according to the invention is for example between 3050 and 3100 A. As a result of the installation of aluminum in the above-mentioned ratio, this displacement of the maximum emission is achieved in the direction of maximum erythema sensitivity.
Preferably, the same atomic Men conditions aluminum and thallium are used, for. B. 4 atoms per 100 molecules of calcium phosphate.
The drawing shows the emission curve @, e of a luminescent substance made from potassium orthophosphate (0a3 1P0412) with equal amounts of aluminum and thallium and a ratio of (Ca + A1 + T1): P = 2; 9: 2.
The following two examples explain the production method of the aforementioned substances.
Example I: 28 grams mol CaCO3 are mixed with 20 grams mol (NH4) 2HP04 and moistened with 400 cm 'of an aqueous solution containing 1 gram mol T1N03 per liter and 400 in an aqueous solution, which contains 1 gramol Al (N03) 3 per liter.
After evaporation of the sus pension is thoroughly mixed, then the dry mixture is heated in air to a temperature of 500 to 600 C for one hour, the temperature is slowly increased to 11ü0 C and maintained for one hour. After cooling, if necessary grinding and sieving, the material is ready for use.
Example II: In 28 liters of an aqueous solution of Ca (NO 3) 2 containing 1 gram mol per liter, 20 liters of solution of (NH, 1) 2 - HPO, 1 in water containing 1 gram mol per liter are also added 400 cm3 of an aqueous solution of 1 gram of Al (N.03)
3 per liter and 400 cm3 of a solution of TIN03 in water, which also contains 1 gramol per liter. The liquid is evaporated and the dry residue mixed thoroughly. The dry product produced in this way is preheated to a temperature of about 600 ° C. in air for one hour.
After the temperature has increased slowly to 1100 ° C., the product produced is held at this temperature for a further hour. After cooling, possibly grinding and sieving, the fabric is ready for use.
A luminescent screen according to the invention can be used in the usual way in conjunction with a gas discharge tube. that generate short-wave ultraviolet rays. If the screen is in the (vessel, e.g.
For example, in the glass bulb in which these ultraviolet rays are generated, it should of course be ensured that the rays emitted by the fluorescent screen are allowed to pass through the wall of the discharge vessel. If, however, the fluorescent screen is outside the discharge vessel, in which the kurzwelli gene ultraviolet rays are generated, it should be ensured that these rays are allowed to pass through the wall of the discharge vessel and the discharge vessel outside the Ent, e.g.
B. on a reflector, can stimulate the existing screen.
