Description

Apparatus for preserving food by vacuum.

The present invention relates to an apparatus for easily carrying out the preservation of perishable goods by means of vacuum.

We know that it is possible to preserve perishable foodstuffs, and in particular food products, without the use of cold, by simply placing them in an air-deprived chamber. Indeed, this practical absence of oxygen prevents or at least considerably slows down the phenomena of fermentation. Until now this kingly conservation process has hardly been used in practice due to the extensive facilities it required.

The invention aims, on the contrary, to make it possible to produce an apparatus of extreme simplicity and a very low cost price, allowing both the implementation of the above method on a domestic scale.

The apparatus according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a base integral with a vacuum pump and a bell mounting with a sealed baleen on this base.

The accompanying drawing, given by way of example, shows one embodiment of the object of the invention.

Fig. 1 is a vertical section.

Fig. 2 is a vertical fragmentary section perpendicular to the previous one, the bell supposedly removed.

Fig. 3 is a detailed sectional view of the valve device.

The apparatus shown comprises an eireulaire plate 1 provided with a cylindrical rim the supported by pads 2, for example made of rubber. The plate 1 has on its periphery a gutter 1b inside which is housed a circular plastic seal 3.

Under the plate 1 and along a diameter thereof is arranged iui blind cylinder 4, the open end of which opens out through the edge of the plate 1. This end is closed by a screwed cover 5, comprising an exhaust hole 5a The cylinder 4 contains a stamped piston 6 mounted on a rod 7 which passes through the cover 5 and ends in an operating handle 8. The leather 6 has its concavity turned towards the cover 5 so that the pump does not operate in compressor, but as a vacuum pump. The interior of cylinder 4 communicates with the atmosphere located above the upper face of plate 1 by means of a valve device shown in detail in FIG. 3.

This device comprises a hollow screw 9, inside which is screwed a small sleeve 10 in which the rod 11 of a valve 12, for example made of rubber, slides with significant clearance.

The lower end of the screw 9 is closed by a veil pierced with two holes 9 "which allow the passage of air in the downward direction, the passage in the opposite direction being radically prevented by the valve 12 which bears against the outlet. bottom of the axial hole of the sleeve 10.

The base thus constituted by the plate 1 and its accessories receives a bell 13 dimensioned such that its edge engages inside the gutter 1b and thus rests on the plastic seal 3. The bell 13 comprises at its top a short vertical pipe 13a internally threaded to receive a stud 14 integral with a cylindrical actuator head 14. An annular seal 15 inserted under the head 14a seals the. closing.

   The operation is as follows:
The foodstuffs to be preserved are placed on the upper face of the plate 1 which can for this purpose be provided with suitable ribs.

Once the products are thus arranged, the bell 13 is replaced on which care was taken to fully screw the head 14a. The handle 8 is then operated so as to actuate the piston 6.

The piston 6 acts unlike the piston of a conventional inflation pump, that is to say that when the lever 8 is pulled, it tends to create a vacuum in the bottom of the cylinder 4 and that On the contrary, when this lever is pushed back, it allows the air which is at the bottom of this cylinder to pass towards the inlet of this one. For its part, the valve device 9 allows the air from the bell to flow into the cylinder 4, but it opposes the return in the opposite direction. Under these conditions, it is understood that the operation of the lever 8 gradually creates a vacuum inside the bell 13.

When this vacuum is considered sufficient, the maneuver is stopped and the device can be abandoned. Due to the almost complete absence of oxygen, the foodstuffs enclosed inside the bell 13 are perfectly preserved and, on the other hand, the atmospheric pressure keeps this bell pressed against the seal 3.

When you want to open the device, it suffices to unscrew the head 14a. Atmospheric air flows inside the bell which, no longer being applied against the base 1 by the external pressure, can easily be lifted.

The whole of the apparatus can be established in molded material, the bell 13 being preferably provided transparent, and the cylinder 4 being integral with the plate 1. It may be advantageous to rib the bell 13 in order to give it resistance. sufficient under a relatively small thickness, which further reduces the cost of the device.

Optionally, the head 14 could be omitted, the re-entry of air then being ensured by an appropriate channel provided in the plate 1 and normally closed by a screwed plug arranged laterally on the rim 1a.
