Description

  La     fig.   1 en est une vue générale en éléva  tion de côté;  la     fig.    2 en est une vue générale en éléva  tion d'extrémité;  la     fig.   3 est une vue schématique     isométri-          que    d'un dispositif     d'entraffiement    d'un cylin-           dre    d'impression, d'un cylindre de support et  d'un tambour de séchage, ainsi que     d#un    dis  positif de commande et de réglage du repérage  longitudinal de la machine;

    la     fig.    4 est une vue schématique,     isomé-          trique,    partiellement en coupe, d'un dispositif  de réglage de repérage latéral;  la     fig.   5 est une vue schématique de côté  d'un dispositif de tension préalable de la ma  chine; 1  1 la     fig.   6 est une vue schématique partielle  ment en coupé d'une partie d'un dispositif de  commande de racloir;

  Plusieurs cylindres d'impression en     taille-          douce   8 sont montésà rotation adjacents au  cylindre de support 4 et partent extérieurement  du bâti 2, leurs axes étant parallèlesà celui du  cylindre de support 4 et les extrémités de cha  cun de ces cylindres d'impression8 étant rete  nues par un mécanismeà pression hydraulique,  ainsi qu'expliqué ci-dessous plus en détail;

Machine for the multicolored printing of fabrics The present invention relates to a machine for the multicolored printing of fabrics, comprising several printing cylinders arranged around a support cylinder, all these cylinders being connected to a common training body.

The machines known until now, of this type, have changed little during the last century and have a certain number of well-known drawbacks, the main one of which is the difficulty of the problem posed to both by fine-tuning or initial setting of the machine and by maintaining exact registration when the fabric is to be printed from in the usual way in several colors by successive printing cylinders, since it is necessary, as is known, to use a separate printing cylinder for each color.

The registration under these conditions must naturally be obtained in both dimensions, that is to say across the fabric strip, referred to below as lateral registration, and along the length of the strip - </ B> designated below by the terms : longitudinal mark. The development, as well as the maintenance of the registration in either dimension, is influenced by the physical characteristics of the fabric to be printed, mainly by its shrinkage or its elongation, as well. that by the printing machine; the registration must therefore be adjusted when the machine is in operation. This precise adjustment of registration in previously known machines required a great deal of time and skill, and given the character of these machines, was very dangerous.

The long time required for the development of a printing machine at each change of the design to to print, was particularly a disadvantage when these design changes were frequent. In addition, the fine tuning of the registration on these machines, even when done with skill, left a lot to to be desired as to the to precision and, also, as regards the maintenance of the registration after the initial setting.

For example, these machines tended to lose their longitudinal tension and, consequently, their registration in this direction, mainly because of the need to apply different pressures to the printing cylinders. required by variations in the degree of adaptation of cylinder engraving and types of printing pastes and dyes, the fabric being printed sometimes bloating away from the support cylinder on which it / B> passes between the printing cylinders whose rotation was obtained by simple contact with the fabric. Naturally, upon the formation of such a bloat, however slight, the longitudinal as well as the lateral registration was lost, and the impression was frequently spoiled.

On the other hand, if such bloat, before being discovered, developed enough to form a fold and pass between an impression cylinder and the support cylinder, it would cause rupture. bearings of the impression cylinder.

The formation of bloat is, to some extent, aggravated by the rather soft covering and fleece used on the support cylinder, as the velocity of the tissue is then influenced by the pressure with which the cylinders d print are pressed on the support cylinder. Usually, this pressure is not the same for each printing cylinder because the optimum printing pressures vary depending on the nature of the engraving and the printing paste or dye used, and consequently the fabric tends to < B> to be driven at a different speed by each driven impression cylinder, since these cylinders, given the overlap and the soft roll, can be at slightly different distances from the axis of the support cylinder.

With these earlier machines, it was therefore necessary either to use a take-off roller on the support cylinder, or to adjust the pressure of the printing cylinders so that the speed of the fabric tended to s It accelerated, which lengthened it to its passage over the support cylinder, and this arrangement was not the best from a pressure point of view.

The machine according to the invention is characterized by the fact that the support cylinder and the printing cylinders, between which circulates the strip of fabric to to be printed which y is subjected to the required pressure, are entered through a differential.

Longitudinal registration can be adjusted easily, quickly, and precisely, and once set, be maintained for long periods of time without attention, keeping the fabric running through the machine under even tension. Before passing under the first impression cylinder, the fabric can be subjected to a considerable degree of adjustable pre-tension, and be withdrawn from the last impression cylinder to very low tension, thereby applying appreciable tension to the fabric at the input end of the machine. This not only eliminates bloating and the consequent loss of longitudinal registration, but also enables the arrangement of each impression cylinder for optimum print quality without further consideration of to </ B> its pressure.

A particular embodiment of the machine can be arranged so to be able to stop and start easily without breaking the fabric. This result is obtained not only by ensuring a low output voltage, but also by means of a device for dragging and controlling the drying drums.

The machine may include a controlled squeegee device, of relatively simple construction, provided with a wide range of adjustments allowing the back and forth of the scrapers with both simple and complex movements. for greater efficiency. Adjustment of the control device is furthermore quick and easy, and can be carried out while the machine is in operation.

The machine may include a device combining in a simple mechanism the entry of the impression cylinder and its registration device with the device for moving the impression cylinder radially relative to the support cylinder.

The machine may be constructed so to allow not only quick and easy registration adjustment but also easy replacement of the support cylinder pads, this construction making de- << / B> assembly of a large part of the machine and the lifting of the support cylinder for the replacement of endless pads.

The appended drawing represents, by by way of example, an embodiment of the machine forming the subject of the present invention.

   fig. 4 is a schematic, isometric view, partially in section, of a lateral registration adjuster; FIG.  5  is a schematic side view of a machine pre-tensioning device ; 1   1  fig.  6  is a schematic partially cut away view of part of a scraper control device;

fig. 7 is a plan view of part of the squeegee control device shown in FIG. 6; fig. 8 is a plan view of another part of the scraper control device shown in FIG. 6; and fig. 9 is a side elevation of another part of the squeegee control device.

If we consider more particularly FIGS. 1 and 2, said embodiment of the machine comprises, in general, a vertical support frame and a control part designated as a whole as 2, for seen from a support cylinder 4 mounted in cantilever to rotation on a fixed shaft 6 forming part of the frame 2 and starting horizontally and externally from this frame 2. The cylinder support 4 is provided with a covering on which is placed a 7 fleece.

  Several intaglio printing cylinders  8  are mounted  to  for rotation adjacent to the support cylinder 4 and start outwardly from the frame 2, their axes being parallel  to < / B> that of the support cylinder 4 and the ends of each of these printing cylinders  8  being retained by a mechanism  at  hydraulic pressure, as explained below in more detail ;

this mechanism pushes these cylinders into contact under pressure with the intercalated fabric 20 (fig. 5) on the support cylinder, a subframe 3 fixing the bearings and associated accessories of each of the cylinders 8 at their inner ends, and a subframe 5 fixing the identical elements with their cantilevered ends, these subframes moving as a block under the action of the hydraulic pressure mechanism.

We pass the strip of fabric 20 to im primer around the support cylinder 4 between the printing cylinders 8 and the fleece 7 of the cylinder 4. The printing cylinders 8 carry an intaglio design transferring a printing paste or dye for printing the fabric web 20, this paste or dye being transported from a bucket 22 to the printing cylinder 8 in the usual way by an immersion roller 24 rotating in the bucket and in contact with the cylinder 8. Scrapers to back and forth 26 wipe excess printing paste from the cylindrical peripheral part of the printing cylinders,

these racks rotating in the spans of the sub-frames 3 and 5 and being provided with a control mechanism described in more detail below.

When it comes to printing a multi-colored pattern on a web of fabric by means of several printing cylinders, it is essential to provide the machine with suitable mechanisms not only to adjust the registration, but also to maintain the registration. this, once set, for long periods. The development or adjustment of the registration, as explained later, has a certain effect on the maintenance of the registration in the sense that this device. adjustment must be rigid and free of play. However, as noted above, the maintenance of registration, to both lateral and longitudinal, is greatly influenced by the adjustment of tension of the fabric web as it passes through the machine between the support cylinder 4 and the printing cylinders 8.

It has been found that the tension of an elastic, deformable material, such as a fabric, is influenced by a number of factors which must all be simultaneously controlled if one is to accurately control the tension of the fabric. It seems particularly desirable to drag both the backing cylinder and the impression cylinders therefrom to prevent slippage of the fabric such as that caused when driving the support roll through the fabric, such as this is the case in previous machines and, to this end, the machine shown includes a differential drive driving to both the support cylinder 4 and the cylinders d 'printing 8, so that no transmission of driving force is required from the fabric to the support cylinder.

It has also been found that it is preferable to apply a uniform tension to the textile material during printing, so that it comes into regular contact with the support cylinder and maintains the registration. . As discussed previously, this tension was heretofore ensured between the impression cylinders by varying the pressure applied to these so that the last pressure cylinder tended < B> to feed the tissue faster than those that preceded it ; however, this arrangement did not allow to apply to all printing cylinders the optimum pressure from the printing point of view.

Therefore, in order to apply a uniform pressure to each cylinder regardless to the tension of the fabric, in the machine shown, the fabric is subjected to </ B > a pre-tension of a set value, before it passes through the first impression cylinder 8. This eliminates the risk of the fabric bloating between the cylinders and the pressure of the latter can be adjusted to optimum printing.

The drive device shown to in fig. 3 drives the support cylinder 4 as well as the printing cylinders 8, the irregular lateral elongation, as well as its detrimental effect on the lateral registration, being reduced to minimum by this arrangement in conjunction with applying uniform tension to the fabric. The support cylinder and the impression cylinders must be driven at variable speeds, given the variations in their effective diameters due to the elastic fleece 7 of the support cylinder and to the web of fabric 20 passing through the machine.

The control drives the support cylinder and impression cylinders by means of a common driving force - a motor 30 - through a differential mechanism 40, so that these cylinders are at at all times automatically driven at speeds adjusted according to the variations in their line of meshing due to changes in their effective diameters. Thus, the differential control shaft 42, driven by the main motor 30 by means of a belt 32, turns a cage carrying coupled planetary bi-sided gears to the two shafts driven in the usual way. The two driven shafts are independent, but the sum of their rotational speeds with a constant input speed remains constant.

One of the two driven shafts rotates a control pin 44 of the support cylinder, which pinion meshes with an internally toothed ring 46, fixed to the support cylinder 4 to drive the latter, while the other controlled shaft drives a drive pinion 48 common to the impression cylinders, in mesh with a main gear 50 by means of which all the impression cylinders 8 are driven by the 'intermediary of a combined control and locating mechanism, as explained in detail below.

To adjust the longitudinal registration, it is essential to be able to move the patterns engraved on each of the printing cylinders 8, relative to one another, as well as to allow the movement of these radial cylinders. in relation to the support cylinder. This result is obtained by means of a differential with elbow device which not only drives the impression cylinder but also makes it possible to rotate the latter on its own axis, by means of a device of separate adjustment, and therefore moves its surface relative to the other printing cylinders during machine operation, which is most desirable.

As shown in FIG. 3, each printing cylinder 8 is provided with an individual intermediate control gear 52 mounted to </ B > rotation around an axis fixed on the frame 2 of the machine and rotating with the main gear 50, the latter and the intermediate drive pinion 52 constituting a gear train.

Each pinion 52 rotates a first locating pinion 54, the axes of the pins 52 and 54 being connected by a coupling bar 56, < / B> extending a little beyond pinion 54, and now at these pinions in mesh at all times, and therefore in the drive position. A the end of the tie rod 56 protruding beyond the pin 54 is mounted a wheel sector with screws 58-, so that the rod 56 carrying the pinion 54 can be moved around the pinion 52 by the rotation of an endless screw 60 mounted on the frame 2 of the machine and meshed with the wheel to screws 58,

the rotation of the endless screw is effected by means of a crank 62. The first pinion pinion 54 engages a pinion 66 of the cylinder Mmpres - sion by means of a second pinion pinion 64, the axis of this second pinion pinion being connected to that of the first pinion pinion 54 by means of a bar ac coupling 68, and to the shaft 12 on which the pinion 66 of the printing cylinder is mounted by a coupling bar < B> 70, this pinion 66 being mounted in rotation on a fixed axis with respect to the interior and exterior sub-frames 3 and 5. < / B> So,

when moving the pinion 54 around the pinion 52 by rotating my level 62 of the worm, we also move the pinion axis 64 around the pinion 66 and the printing cylinder 8 is thus rotated on its own axis independently of the support cylinder 4 in order to adjust the registration. The subframes 3 and 5 have been omitted in fig. 3 for clarity of the drawing, the detailed arrangement being shown in fig. 4.

The other impression cylinders 8, omitted in fig. 3 for clarity of the drawing, are provided with identical driving and locating mechanisms, driven by the main gear 50 by means of a similar mechanism to the one previously described.

Any cylinder 8 can therefore be rotated on its own axis without causing it to move around the support cylinder 4, this rotation being independent of the movement of each of the printing cylinders 8 < / B> and, at the same time, this diffé rentiel of the invention allows the free movement of each printing cylinder with its subframe radially relative to the support cylinder.

Since these printing cylinders can be moved by their worm cranks while the machine is in operation, registration adjustment is easy and can be observed by the operator performing this operation. The preceding arrangement also ensures absolute rigidity and the absence of play, allowing the longitudinal registration to be maintained once it has been adjusted.

To allow the adjustment of the axial registration of each of the printing cylinders 8 with respect to the support cylinder 4 and between them, the machine shown comprises, -as shown in fig. 4, a sleeve 72 retaining the bearings 10 of the cylinder, this sleeve being mounted to slide in the internal false-frame 3 of the machine and parallel to the axis of the support cylinder 4.

From the sleeve 72 exits an arm 74 on which is mounted, in a fixed position relative to the subframe 3, an element 76 provided with a thread, extending parallel to the axis of the printing cylinder 8. To move the cylinder 8, we axially moves the threaded element 76 by means of a device with internal thread, this device being composed of a toothed wheel 78 and a 'a nut 79, which form a backlash-free arrangement by screwing them in separately until they are a short distance apart, the thrust faces on each side pressing against the toothed wheel and the nut in the opposite direction to eliminate any play between them.

They are then secured by a pin 77 to prevent any relative rotational movement. One side of the nut 79, the side opposite to the adjacent wheel 78, bears against a surface 80 </ B> of the sub-frame 3 of the machine to prevent the assembly from moving in one direction with respect to this sub-frame. Movement in the other direction is prevented by an external threaded sleeve 82 which screws into a threaded hole 84 of the false-frame 3 of the machine and which carries against the side of the gear 78 opposite to the nut 79,

a locking nut 86 being screwed onto this externally threaded bush so to bear against the subframe 3 and block the sleeve 82 to prevent it from rotating.

The assembly constituted by the toothed wheel 78 and the nut 79 is thus normally blocked against any axial movement with respect to the subframe, but can be adjusted by means of the bush 82 to a position free of play to maintain the lateral registration once it has been adjusted. To move the impression cylinder axially with respect to the support cylinder, the toothed wheel 78 can be rotated by means of a 88 mounted pinion to rotation in the subframe 3 and in mesh with it, the rotation of the pinion 88 being obtained by means of a suitable device (not shown ) such as a handwheel or motor.

Since the longitudinal registration adjustment device is not designed to provide axial movement, the shaft 12 of the pressure cylinder is provided with splines 13 which engage in corresponding internal splines. laying 67 of the pinion 66 in such a way to keep it in a fixed position axially while allowing the lateral movement of the impression cylinder 8. The cantilever end of this cylinder is provided with a door allowing it to slide relative to the subframe 5.

Thanks to this arrangement, the axial registration of each of the cylinders 8, each provided with the axial registration mechanism described above, can be moved either relative to the other cylinders 8, or relative to the support cylinder 4, during operation of the machine.

Their adjustment is therefore easy, both for the axial registration and for alignment with the strip of fabric 20, during operation of the machine.

The support cylinder 4 and the impression cylinders 8 are pushed into contact by means of a hydraulic pressure device comprising a hydraulic cylinder 14 enclosing a piston < B> 16 provided with a rod 17 and supplied with hydraulic fluid by means of pipes 18. The cylinder 14 is mounted on the fixed shaft in the door - overhang 6, while the piston rod 17, on the inner side, is connected to the subframe 3, the latter being capable of restricted movement relative to the frame 2 radially with respect to the support cylinder 4, but free to move in all directions for the necessary maintenance of the marking.

When hydraulic fluid is applied to the piston 16 through the lines 18, the piston moves through the cylinder to push the impression cylinder 8 < / B> against the support cylinder 4 and thus apply the desired printing pressure. The cantilevered end of the backing cylinder and the printing cylinder is. provided with a mechanism at identical hydraulic pressure through which the subframe 5 and the cantilever bearings of each of the cylinders 8 are connected to the outer end of the cantilever shaft 6.

The fluid under an appropriate pressure can be supplied to the 18 pipes by any known device, the - setting of the pressure supplied by this device determining the pushing pressures the ends of each impression cylinder against the support cylinder 4 to ensure the desired printing pressure. It is desirable that each 8 printing cylinder be provided with a separate hydraulic fluid supply device in order to allow adjustment of the pressures according to the conditions individually required by each of these cylinders, since, as is known, these conditions commonly vary from cylinder to cylinder < B> to the other, for example according to the greater or lesser fineness of the engraving of the cylinders,

as well as according to the paste or pressure dye used. This fluid pressure mechanism also has the advantage of allowing the passage of thick intermittent places of the strips of fabric, such as the seam joining two lengths of fabric together, without deterioration. for the machine and without interruption of printing.

As explained above, the machine shown ensures uniform tension to the strip of fabric 20 passing around the support cylinder 4 by applying to the latter a pretension before passing under the first impression cylinder. The tension of the fabric during its printing by the first cylinder 8 is therefore regulated by a pre-tension device.

The pre-tensioning device shown in FIG. 5 stretches the fabric strip and facilitates its alignment with the support cylinder 4 and the impression cylinders 8. This device consists of a support 90 provided with 92 staves intended to maintain the shaft of a roll 94 of fabric to to print. A the upper part of this support 90 are mounted four brake rollers 96. These rollers are mounted to rotation on the frame < B> 90 and drive each other by means of gears 98 so to all turn to </ B > the same speed.

Below the first of these brake rollers is located a clamp roller 100 pressed by a spring 102 to establish a clamp between itself and the first brake roller 96. </ B> The shaft of one of these 96 rollers is provided with a brake drum 104 controlled by a brake tire 106 actuated by a dancing roller of pre-tension 108. The dancing roller 108 is mounted on a lever 110 connected to a counterweight 1 12 by a chain 114, this lever being articulated on the support 90.

The tension of the fabric loop 20 passed around the dancing roller 108 is therefore determined by the weight 112, since the movement of the lever 110 in response to variations in the tension of the fabric serves to tighten or release the pressure applied by the tire 106 on the brake drum 104, and thereby increase or decrease the fabric retaining action around the brake rollers 96.

During operation, the fabric strip therefore passes from the roller 94 between the clamping roller 100 and the first brake roller 96, and then in a winding path around < B> of each of the other brake rollers 96 and the dancer roller 108, around a mounted guide roller 116 to the upper part of the frame 90, and then on the support cylinder 4 of the machine. The pre-tension of fabric web 20 can be adjusted by varying the weight 112 so that this tension stretches the fabric before it passes under the first impression cylinder.

Thanks to this means, the machine makes it possible to print a multicolored pattern on a fabric practically uniformly stretched without requiring the agency of the various printing cylinders in order to obtain the best tension of the fabric then that this is determined elsewhere.

A tension control device disposed at the output end of the machine is intended to synchronize the rotation of drying drums 120 with the speed of the fabric, thereby eliminating any risk of the fabric breaking. tissue by a difference in speed between these drums and the tissue leaving the machine, this synchronization being essentially obtained by means of the common feeding motor 30 driving at both the printing device and the drying drums, together with an adjusting motor, 136 intended to add or to subtract a rotation correction. This com tension control device carries an output dancer roller 122 which is rotatably mounted on levers 124.

These are articulated on a shaft 126 and support at their other ends removable weights 125 allowing the output voltage to be adjusted.

To the levers 124 is fixed a rod 128 causing a control arm 130 of a rheostat 132 to move according to the movements of the dancer roller. The rheostat 132 controls an amplidyne 134 or other servo-araplifier, which supplies the current to the reversible adjustment motor 136 according to the resistance value of the rheostat 132, value deciphered by the movements of the dancer roller 122.

The drying drums 120 are driven by means of a differential mechanism 138 to both by the main motor 30 - through the intermediary of a belt 34 - and by the adjustment motor 136 - via a belt 36 - to synchronize their speed with that of the fabric ' the adjustment motor 136 being arranged to stop when the desired tension is applied to the strip of fabric, and add or subtract its rotation when the adjustment roller 122 is too high or too low.

The drying drums 120 are therefore, in principle, driven by the main motor 30 alone, the adjustment motor 136 only adding or subtracting a corrective rotation to the drying drums 120, controlled by the dancer roller 122. In these circumstances, the adjustment motor 136 only needs to be small in size and relatively low in power compared to the motor main 30. It can thus, thanks to its low inertia, stop and start easily to carry out a practically instantaneous correction ensuring a constant tension to the fabric band, without instability.

This arrangement has the further advantage of allowing the operator to inspect a considerable length of printed fabric by simply stopping the main motor 30 of the printing machine. printing and pulling the fabric backward from the drying drums 120, the adjustment motor 136 will then rotate the drying drums in reverse while the operator increases the tension applied to the fabric to modify the position of the dancer roller 122. When the operator has finished his inspection, all he has to do is release the fabric so that the motor will then rotate the drums 120 in the desired direction to pull at them to the fabric again.

The machine further comprises a mechanism actuating the scrapers, shown in FIGS. 6 to 9. This mechanism comprises an oscillating plate 140 (see also fig. 1) of generally circular shape, mounted by a universal joint 142 on the end of the the fixed shaft cantilever 6, beyond the end of the support cylinder 4.

The axes 27 of the scrapers 26 are mounted in such a way to being able to slide along the printing cylinders 8. On each of the scrapers 26 is fixed a pin 144 engaging in a bracket 146 mounted on the control shaft 148 of the scraper, the end of which the interior is with sliding movement relative to the subframe 3, by means of a bearing 150 mounted on this subframe. The outer end of each of these shafts 148 is attached to the outer edge of the swash plate 140 by means of a flexible transmission 152,

a single scraper and its drive shaft being shown in fig. 9 for clarity of the drawing. The swash plate 140 does not rotate.

The oscillation of the plate 140 (so that each point chosen on its edge animates a back and forth movement of a scraper) is obtained by means of the universal joint 142 and an eccentric mechanism intended to < / B> move an associated control plate 154 extending parallel to the axis of the fixed cantilever shaft 6, generally per pendicular to a radius of this shaft, and fixed to the swash plate 140 along a rope located near the edge thereof.

The control plate 154 is articulated, as shown, by means of a hinge 156, whose axis extends transversely to the plate 154 in a perpendicular plane < B> at the axis of the fixed shaft 6. To make it move, the plate 154 is provided, at its end opposite to that connected to plate 140, with a bore 162 intended to receive the active part of the eccentric mechanism,

the latter comprising three eccentric to circular cam profile shackled by an eccentric control motor 164 by means of a gear ratio 166. The gear 168 shaft is keyed on the inside control eccentric 170 which turns inside the inside of the gear. 'an intermediate adjustment eccentric 172, which itself rotates inside an outside driven eccentric 180. The eccentric adjustment intermediate 172 is normally actuated by the control shaft 168 by means of a square cut-off shaft 174 mounted at the upper end control shaft 168, since, at the upper end of the adjustment eccentric 172,

is mounted an adjustment knob in the shape of a cup 176 , the bottom of which is pierced with a square hole 178 engaging on the square truncated shaft 174 However, this adjustment knob 176 as well as the adjustment eccentric 172 can be lifted a little distance to clear the square hole 178 </ B > of the truncated shaft 174 to allow the eccentric 172 to to be brought to one or other of its four positions in order to vary the degree of circular movement of control plate 154 transmitted by the external eccentric driven 180.

To impart to the control plate 154 a very slow circular motion in addition to the faster circular motion previously described, the machine includes a ratchet mechanism for slowly rotate the outer eccentric 180. This mechanism includes an arm 182 mounted to rota tion on an axis 184 on the plate 154. A one end of this arm is mounted a roller 186 engaging on a cam profile 188 of the eccentric adjustment 172, while at its other end are mounted for rotation a pawl I drive 190 as well as a stop pawl 192 connected by a spring 194,

these pawls are engaged on ratchet teeth 196 of a cylindrical surface concentric to the control shaft 168, located on the upper part of the driven eccentric 180. When the arm 182 is moved back and forth by the cam 188, </ B> pawls 190 and 192 slowly advance the outer eccentric 180.

In operation, the scraper control mechanism therefore drives each scraper 26 with an alternating low-frequency and high-frequency superimposed movement, since the circular movement transmitted to the plate control 154 oscillates the plate 140 to communicate a back and forth movement to each of the scrapers.

In addition, the amplitude of the reciprocating movement of the scrapers 26 can be varied by means of the adjustment eccentric 172 during the operation of the machine to obtain a extremely simple and effective manner the wiping action appropriate to the working conditions In general, the necessary or desirable movements of the wipers are well known to those skilled in the art, and the wiper control mechanism included in the machine shown allows the use. most effective wiping action under all conditions.

From the preceding description, it emerges that the machine shown and described allows easy and rapid adjustment of the to both longitudinal and lateral registration and, the registration once r, g "Ié, to maintain it for It will also be noted that the machine thus produced is far superior to machines prior to to many other points of view previously discussed.
