Accessory for making automatic the control of a revolver revolver The present invention relates to an accessory for making automatic the control of a revolver. This accessory is intended in particular to be mounted on a revolving lathe whose turret is integral in rotation with a shaft arranged on the carriage of the lathe, parallel to the direction of movement of the latter.
This accessory is characterized by the fact that it comprises at least one pneumatic servomotor for causing the movements of the carriage, the movements imparted to the carriage by this servomotor being controlled by a hydraulic piston regulator device, itself controlled by cams. the profile of which influences the section of passage of the liquid re-trodden by said piston, each cam controlling the advance of a determined tool, all these cams being mounted on a drum rotated by a certain angle with each movement of tool change by said shaft integral with the turret-revolver.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the accessory according to the invention. Fig. 1 is an overview of a lathe on which said accessory is mounted. Fig. 2 represents the diagram of the pneumatic installation for controlling said accessory. Fig. 3 is an elevational view with partial section of said accessory.
Fig. 4 is an axial section of said accessory. Fig. 5 is a plan view of the accessory, with partial section.
Figs. 6 and 7 are partial views in cross section, along VI-VI, respectively VII-VII of FIG. 5. FIG. 8 is a view of a detail. As shown in fig. 1, this accessory is intended to be mounted on a revolver-lathe 1, of which the revolver-turret 2, mounted on the trolley 3, is integral in rotation with a shaft 4 arranged on the trolley 3 of the lathe, parallel to the direction of movement thereof, that is to say parallel to the slides 5 of the lathe. In this type of revolver, this shaft 4 protrudes from the rear of the carriage 3.
This accessory comprises a frame .6, intended to be fixed to the frame of the lathe by bolts 7. This frame 6 carries a pneumatic servomotor, formed in the particular case of two cylinders 8, in each of which slides a piston 9 provided with gaskets 10. These pistons 9 are integral with rods 11, made integral with one another by a lifter 12.
Two rods 13 are fixed to the ends of the lifter 12, parallel to the rods 11. These rods 13 are able to slide in bearings 14 and are joined at their rear end by a second lifter 15.
Parts 16 connect the lifter 12 to the carriage 3 of the lathe. These parts 16, formed using welded flat irons, are bolted to the carriage 3 of the lathe.
A hydraulic regulator device regulates the speed of the movements imparted to the carriage 3 of the lathe by the pistons 9. This hydraulic regulator device comprises a cylinder 17, arranged between the cylinders 8 (see FIG. 4). In this cylinder 17 slides a piston 18, provided with seals 19, which piston is integral with a rod 20 fixed by its rear end to the central part of the hinge 15.
Above the cylinder 17 is placed an oil reservoir 21, provided with a filling tube 22, closed by a plug 23. A large section passage 24 communicates the rear part of the cylinder 17 with the reservoir 21. On the other hand, the communication of the front part of the cylinder 17 with the reservoir 21 takes place via two separate passages. In fact, - the front part of cylinder 17 first communicates with a chamber 25 through two holes 26, respectively 27. From this chamber 25, a channel 28, pierced in a part 29, constituting, on the one hand, the bottom of the cylinder 17 and, on the other hand, one of the walls of the reservoir 21, leads to the reservoir 21. This channel 28 is controlled by a rotary valve 30, arranged transversely in the part 29.
The rotating part of this valve 30 is integral with a. lever 31, having an elongated opening 32 at its end. On the side of the reservoir 21 is disposed a part 33, sliding smoothly in a slide 34, against the action of a spring 35 tending to push it to the left with respect to FIGS. 4 and 5. As can be seen in these figures, this sliding part 33 is made integral in movement with the lever 31 by means of a pin 36 fixed to the end of the part 33 and which engages in the elongated opening 32. lever 31. This part 33 also carries, at its front end, a stop plate 37.
The second passage of the bypass making the front part of the cylinder 17 communicate with the reservoir 21 is constituted by a channel of large section 38 pierced in the part 29. A valve closes this channel. This valve consists of a ball 39, pushed by a spring 40 against a seat 41. A pusher 42, sliding vertically in the part 29, allows the ball 39 to be moved away from its seat 41 to allow the liquid to escape through the not wise 38.
During the return strokes of the carriage 3, the piston 18 of the regulating device, moving to the right with respect to FIGS. 4 and 5, delivers the oil contained in the rear part of the cylinder 17 to the reservoir 21, through the passage 24 of large section. During these same return movements, oil flows through passage 38, lifting the ball 39 from its seat, towards the front part of the cylinder 17. On the other hand, during the active races of the carriage, the regulator device The hydraulic system is itself controlled by cams 43 fixed to a drum 44. This drum 44 is itself fixed to the extension of the shaft 4 integral in rotation with the turret-revolver 2.
This drum 44 carries as many cams 43 as the turret-revolver 2 carries tools.
During each movement of the carriage 3, the cams 43 are therefore also driven in a longitudinal movement. A feeling finger 45, fixed to one end of a lever 46, pivoted at 47, transmits to the other end 48 of this lever 46 the movements given to it by the profile of the cam 43 during the longitudinal movement of the carriage. These movements transmitted by the lever 46 act on the pous evening 42 to take off the ball 39 from its seat or let it fall on it.
On the rear part of the drum 44 is fixed a flange 49 of circular shape, carrying a series of stops 50 formed by screws screwed into the flange 49. These stops 50 are therefore in an adjustable position and can be locked in position by means of nuts 51. These stops 50 are part of a selector device actuated at the end of the return stroke of the carriage 3 to adjust, by means of the stop plate 37 and the lever 31, to a given section , the throttle constituted by the rotary valve 30. It is in fact the position of this valve which determines the speed of the active stroke of the carriage 3 during the work of the tool in the workpiece.
The drum 44 also carries rods 52 on each of which is fixed an adjustable position stopper 53. In addition, a stopper 54, of fixed position, is fixed to the drum 44 opposite each stopper 53. All these stops 54 are arranged. in the same plane transverse to the axis of the drum 44. These stops 53 and 54 are intended to control the reversals of movement at the end of each active stroke, respectively of each return stroke of the carriage 3. Indeed, a spool distributor 55 is fixed to the frame 6 of the accessory, by means of a console 63, above the drum 44. The spool 56 is connected by a connecting rod 57 to a lever 58, pivoting at 59 relative to the accessory frame.
This lever 58 is capable of being held in two symmetrical positions by virtue of a spring push-button device 60, articulated at 61 with respect to the frame 6. This device 60 is articulated at 62 at the upper end of the lever 58. As will be understood without further, when the carriage 3 approaches the end of its advance stroke, the stop 53 of the rod 52 located on the front face of the lathe pushes the lever 58 to make it tilt into its position. symmetrical tion, which causes a displacement of the spool 56 of the distributor reversing the direction of travel of the carriage by reversing the inflow of compressed air into the cylinders 8.
It is the same when the carriage approaches the end of its backward travel, the corresponding stop 54 then tilting the lever 58 into its opposite position, which causes a displacement of the drawer 56 reversing the direction of travel of the carriage.
As seen above, the selection of the feed speed of each working tool is given by the entry into contact of one of the stops 50 with the stop plate 37, integral with the part 33 actuating lever 31. To ensure that the lever 31 is held in its selected position, a locking mechanism allows said lever 31 to be locked in the position to which the stop 50 has brought it. This locking mechanism comprises a sliding rod 64 , having a fork-shaped end 65. -This sliding rod 64 is integral with a piston 66 provided with seals 67 and sliding in a cylinder 68 disposed on the rear face of the accessory. This piston 66 is controlled pneumatically and at the end of each backward movement of the carriage 3.
When the direction of travel of the carriage is reversed, this piston 66 is pushed by compressed air in the direction of the sliding part 33 to block it and thereby lock, in the selected position, the operating lever 31. rotary valve 30 (see fig. 5 and 7).
In order for a cycle of various work operations of a part to continue continuously and automatically, the drum 44 further carries a cam 69 (see FIG. 6), arranged in a plane perpendicular to the axis. rotation of said drum. This cam acts on a compressed air distributor 70, controlled by a pusher 71, constituting the feeling finger following the profile of the cam 69.
As this accessory must be able to be mounted on a revolver which may not be fitted with a particular drive motor, it is completed by a clutch device intended to trigger simultaneously the engagement command of a cycle of working operations, the rotation of the headstock of the lathe, by lateral displacement, to. using a control fork 115a (fig. 2), a transmission belt 115 of the mad louse 116 on the drive pulley 117 of a transmission mechanism (fig. 2).
Such a device is shown in FIG. 8. It comprises a rod 72, capable of sliding in bearings 73 of a support 74, -placed under the lathe 1. This rod 72 constitutes a kind of control rod for the mechanism intended to move the belt. transmission to pass it from the idler pulley to the drive pulley, when starting the lathe, and in the opposite direction when stopping it (the belt movement mechanism, which is of known construction, has been shown in the drawing only very schematically - in Fig. 2).
This rod 72 is connected by a chain 75 to a rod 76 controlled by a pneumatic booster comprising a piston 77 sliding in a cylinder _78. A ratchet device causes the locking of the rod 72 in the running position of the lathe, respectively the release of this rod when the lathe is stopped. This device comprises a first pawl 79, articulated at 80 on an extension of the support 74. This pawl 79 is connected by a connecting rod 81 to a rod 82, integral with a piston 83 sliding in a pneumatically controlled cylinder 84. This cylinder 84 is also carried by the support 74.
Another extension of the support 74 carries a second. pawl 85, articulated at 86. This second pawl is connected to the end of the first pawl by a connecting rod 87. This connecting rod 87 has an extended opening 88 allowing the end 89 of the second pawl to come closer or less of the tip of the pawl 79 against the action of a res out 90. The rod 72 also has two grooves 91 and 92 determining on them shoulders 93 and 94 on which the first pawl 79 are intended to act respectively. and the second pawl 85.
The starting control of the lathe and its automatic control accessory is effected by means of a push-button 95 actuating the slide 96 of a distributor 97 of the compressed air. This slide 96 is subjected to the action of a spring 98 always returning the push button 95 towards the outside.
On the other hand, the supply of compressed air into the cylinders 8 of the pneumatic booster can be regulated by means of adjustable needle valves 99, arranged under the rear end of the cylinders 8 (see FIG. 3).
The entire mechanism of the accessory is furthermore protected by a profiled casing 114. FIG. 2 shows the diagram of the pneumatic control system for the accessory. We find in this diagram the distributor 55 spool 56, the cylinders 8 of the booster, the cylinder 68 of the locking mechanism of the sliding part 33 integral in movement of the lever 31 for actuating the rotary valve 30.
In this diagram, we also find the push-button 95 and its distributor 97, the device for clutching the belt 115 via the rod 7.2 ,. as well as the càfne "69 and the distributor 70- intended to ensure the continuous running of the lathe after each successive working operation.
The operation of the accessory takes place as follows. A source of compressed air, not shown, supplies the three distributors 55, 70 and 97 via a central nozzle 100, 101, 102 respectively. The drawer 56 of the distributor 55 is drawn in FIG. 2, in the position it occupies when the machine is at rest. When the latter must be started, the user exerts pressure on the push-button 95, which causes a supply of compressed air via a pipe 103 in the cylinder 78. This compressed air pushes to the right the piston 77 which thereby pulls the rod 72 and engages the belt transmission mechanism.
As soon as the button 95 is released, the pawl 85, which is in contact with the rod 72, retains the latter by abutting against the shoulder 94.
Simultaneously with the sending of compressed air to cylinder 78 through line 103, compressed air was sent through line 104 to distributor 55 to push spool 56 to the left with respect to the drawing, tilting the valve. lever 58 and cause the triggering of the first working phase of the lathe, that is to say of the first active stroke of the carriage 3. Indeed, after its displacement to the left, the drawer 56 allows the 'compressed air, reaching the distributor 55 through the nozzle 100, to reach through the intermediary of the pipe 105 the rear part of the cylinders 8. The pistons 9 are therefore pushed forward and drive with them, by means of the rods 11 and the parts 12 and 16, the carriage 3.
Simultaneously with the sending of compressed air into the pipe 105, the compressed air is sent into the cylinder 68 to cause a displacement of the piston 66 ensuring the locking of the sliding part 33 by the fork 65. The rotary valve 30 is therefore maintained in the position given to it by the corresponding stop 50 throughout the active travel of the carriage 3.
During the first part of the active stroke of said carriage, as the tool is not yet in contact with the workpiece, the feed rate can be rapid. This is why the cam 43 (see FIG. 4) has a profile causing an elevation of the feeler finger 45 and, therefore, a distance of the ball 39 from its seat 41 by means of the parts 46 and 42. As long as the ball 39 is away from its seat, the speed of advance of the carriage is fast because the oil delivered by the piston 18 into the cylinder 17 can escape to the reservoir 21, on the one hand through the channel 28 and, on the other hand, through the large section channel 38.
As soon as the cam 43, integral with the drum 44, has undergone sufficient axial displacement for the feeler finger 45 to come into contact with the ramp 106 of the cam 43, the ball 39 moves closer to its seat until it closes off com the passage 38. At this moment, the oil delivered by the piston 18 can escape to the reservoir 21 only by passing through the channel 28 controlled by the rotary valve 30. The oil flow through the channel 28 is then relatively small and the carriage 3 performs the actual working stroke of the tool in the corresponding position.
As soon as the stop 53 of the rod 52 (see fig. 3) located near the lever 58 causes said lever 58 to tilt, the spool 56 is pushed back inside the distributor 55, which causes the movement to reverse. of the cart. Indeed, at this time, the compressed air coming from the nozzle 100 passes through a pipe 107 to supply the cylinders 8 of the booster and drive the pistons 9 backwards. Likewise, the supply of compressed air to the pipe 107 causes the piston 66 to move, moving the fork 65 away from the sliding part 33 of the selection device 30-37, 50. The sliding part 33 is then pushed back. by its spring 35 forward, which causes the lever 31 to tilt.
Line 105 is exhausted throughout the return cycle of the carriage. The return stroke of the carriage is at high speed because the oil discharged from the rear part of the cylinder 17 can easily escape to the reservoir 21 through the passage 24 of large section. Likewise, the oil easily flows from the reservoir 21 to the front part of the cylinder 17 by lifting the ball 39 from its seat 41.
During this return movement of the carriage, the drum 44 is rotated by a certain angle, which corresponds to a rotation of an equal angle of the turret 2 to bring a new tool into the working position.
As soon as the carriage approaches the end of its return stroke, the stop 50, which is then in the selection position, comes into contact with the plate 37 and therefore pushes the sliding part 33 back, causing a tilting movement of a certain angle of the lever 31. The corresponding stop 54 of the drum 44 then causes the tilting of the lever 58, pulling the drawer 56 forward, which causes the carriage to reverse and simultaneously lock the sliding part 33 by the fork 65.
During the rotation of the drum 44 during the return movement of the carriage, the cam 69 is also driven and its profile pushes back, against the action of a spring 108, the feeler 71 integral with the spool of the distributor 70. This displacement of the spool of the distributor 70 causes an inflow of compressed air through a pipe 109 in the cylinder 84, which pushes the piston 83 to the right. The rod 72, which had been retained until then by the pawl 85, is released. by the latter to be blocked by the pawl 79 whose tip abuts against the shoulder 93.
The rod 72 (and thus the fork 115a for controlling the lateral movements of the belt 115) therefore undergoes a slight axial displacement under the action of a spring 110 for returning the belt 115 on its idler pulley 116 < / B> (disengaged position). However, the slight movement of the rod 72 does not make it possible to reach this disengaged position and the drive by the pulley 117 is maintained.
Throughout this first operation, and as soon as the push-button 95 has been released, the piston 77 has resumed, under the action of the compressed air reaching the cylinder 78 via the line 111, its rest position towards the end. left in cylinder 78.
During all the other operations of the complete working cycle, the control mechanism of the belt clutch device 115 remains in the last position indicated above (pawl 79 butting against the shoulder 93 rod 72).
The various working operations are then carried out successively and, when the last (generally sixth operation) comes to an end, no stop 54 causes a new reversal of the carriage. During this last return stroke of the carriage, the drum 44 performs a final rotation of a certain angle (60o rotation in the case of a six-tool turret-revolver), which causes the fall of the pusher 71 in the notch 112 of the cam 69. The movement of the spool of the distributor 70 resulting from the movement of the pusher 71 causes compressed air to be sent through a pipe 113 into the cylinder 84, bringing the piston 83 back to the left.
This movement of the piston 83 causes the pawl 79 to move away from the rod 72. The latter being released, the spring 110 brings the transmission belt 115 back to its idle pulley 116. The lathe is then immobilized, the machined part is finished. and must be replaced with a new blank. A new cycle of operations can then be commanded by actuating push-button 95 again.
The accessory described above with reference to the accompanying drawing was very particularly tiné with a determined revolver. It goes without saying that the shape of certain parts of this accessory could be modified, depending on the revolving wheel on which it must be adapted. It should also be noted that the various components constituting this accessory, either the servo motor or the regulator device, could be replaced by other components having similar functions.
It should be noted, on the other hand, that this accessory can be used to machine. very different parts automatically because the cams 43 are removably attached to the drum 44 and can therefore easily be replaced by other cams depending on the machining operation to be performed.
