Process of manufacturing a roller with pegs for musical pieces and press for its setting aeuvre The present invention relates to a process for manufacturing a pin roller for musical pieces and a press for its implementation.
The manufacturing process is characterized by the fact that the dowels are stamped in a plate which has to be wound up to form the roll, by at least two tinning operations, the first covering only part of the dowels chosen so that there is more space between them, than there will be between the pegs of the complete cylinder and the second laying on the remaining pegs.
The press is characterized by the fact that it comprises a die-holder plate and a slide with vertical displacement on which a plate, intended to carry at least two punches arranged one behind the other, can run horizontally. so as to successively occupy two stamping positions, one for each punch, positions in which it is removably fixed.
The appended drawing represents, by way of a ple, an embodiment of the press for the implementation of the method forming the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view of said press. Fig. 2 is a section along the line 11-I1 of FIG. 1 and fig. 3 according to 111-11I.
Fig. 4 shows a detail of the press. The press shown comprises a frame 1 on which is mounted a table 2 carrying a die 3. Slides 4 and 5 guide a slide with vertical displacement 6. The latter carries, on its lower face, a punch-holder plate 7 which can slide horizontally on slides 8 and 9.
The plate 7 has two punches 10 and 11 arranged one behind the other and capable of successively taking their working position, in which they are fixed removably. - The fixing device is formed of a ball 12 elastically mounted, thanks to a spring 14, in a recess of the slide and engaging in a recess 13 of the plate. An adjustable screw 16 serves as a stop for said plate.
The press is fitted with an extractor device mounted on the frame, above the matrix. This device comprises a frame 17 carrying the part to be stamped 18 and guided by four rods 19. Springs 20 maintain the frame in its rest position, where it remains applied. against bolts 21 screwed to the end of the guide rods. This frame is integral with two rods 22 and 23 which pass right through the slide and cooperate with a locking mechanism mounted on the upper face of the latter.
This mechanism is formed by a circular lock 24 which can occupy two positions, one of rest, shown in phantom in FIG. 4, where the rods remain independent of the slide, and the other for locking where the rods are made integral with said slide. In the latter case, the lock engages in recesses 25 of the rods as shown in solid lines in FIG. 4. The lock is controlled by a lever 26 cooperating with a spring 27 which can occupy two disarming positions, corresponding to the positions of the lock.
The punches 10 and 11 each carry a part, here half, of the stamping points 28. The distribution of said points between the two punches is such that there is more space between them than there would be. with a single punch. This arrangement allows the use of tips of a larger base diameter on a press of a much smaller tonnage. The manufacture of the part therefore requires two stamping operations, ie one with each punch. One could obviously provide a press with more than two punches and a corresponding number of operations.
The press operates as follows. Punch 10, for example, is in the working position. The extractor device is free, the locking mechanism being in the rest position. The slide is lowered towards the part to be stamped and brings it, against the action of the springs 20, into contact with the die where it undergoes a first stamping which forms part of the pins. Then the slide is raised, the plate remains engaged in the die, the springs not being powerful enough to tear it off. The second punch 11 is put in the working position and the slide is lowered again for the second stamping during which the last dowels are formed.
The locking mechanism is then activated allowing the slide to tear off the stamped part by driving the extractor device in its upward movement.
