Description

 la fig. 1 est une vue en coupe du ventilateur suivant une ligne I-I de la fig. 2;

Fan especially intended for pneumatic transport installations
In pneumatic transport installations, the products transported generally cannot pass through the fans or boosters, as these products may be crushed and the fan may be damaged.

We are therefore obliged to separate the products from the carrier air at the inlet of the fan, so that only the air passes through the latter, and then to reintroduce these same products at the outlet of the fan into the delivery circuit. . This complicates installation and significantly increases its cost price, as well as transport costs.

The present invention relates to a fan, in particular intended for pneumatic transport installations. It is characterized in that it comprises a paddle rotor wrapped over a portion of its circumference by an endless belt which is placed in contact with the paddles and is capable of being moved at a speed substantially equal to the peripheral speed of these pallets, intake and discharge ducts connected to the two ends of the passage existing between the rotor and the endless belt, a rotary distributor provided with cells intended to receive the vanes and arranged between the discharge duct and that of admission to prevent air from passing from the first to the second, and means for synchronously assisting the rotor and the distributor.

In a particular embodiment, the rotor is formed by a grooved wheel, the endless belt being applied on a winding path formed on either side of the groove of this wheel.

In the case where the fan is intended for a pneumatic transport installation, there is preferably provided a scraper member in contact with which the pallets pass before coming into contact with the endless belt. This prevents the presence of dust or products between the strip and the pallets, which would adversely affect the seal.

It is also advantageously possible to provide a scraping member in contact with which passes the strip leaving the pallets, which detaches from this strip the products or dust which might have adhered to it.

It is also possible to provide a scraping member in contact with which the pallets pass before engaging in the cells of the rotary distributor.

The suction and discharge ducts can, as is usual, be connected by an auxiliary duct on which is interposed a valve limiting the pressure difference between the two ducts. This prevents disturbances to the fan, such as maladjustment and blockages, which could occur in the event of accidental obstructions in one or other of the ducts.

An embodiment of the fan object of the invention has been described below, by way of example, with reference to the accompanying drawing in which
 fig. 1 is a sectional view of the fan taken along a line I-I of FIG. 2;
 fig. 2 is a section along a line II-II of FIG. 1.

The fan shown comprises an impeller 1 with a groove 2 provided with vanes 3 which are distributed regularly around the periphery of the wheel and divide the groove into equal sectors.

The wheel 1 is partially enveloped by an endless belt 4 which is applied on a winding path 5 formed on either side of the groove 2. The belt passes over return pulleys, some of which are preferably , adjustable position to ensure belt tension. Rollers 7 are arranged on the outer face of the belt and support the latter on the winding path 5.

The annular passage which exists between the bottom of the groove 2 and the belt 4 communicates with an inlet duct 8 and a discharge duct 9.

Between the conduits 8 and 9 is disposed a rotary distributor consisting of a wheel 10 provided with cells 11 whose shape corresponds to that of the pallets 3, so that the latter can engage in the cells. This wheel, which prevents the conduits 8 and 9 from communicating directly with each other, is inserted into the groove 2 to the bottom of the latter, with very little play.

The wheels 1 and 10 are interconnected by gears 12 and 13, so as to rotate in synchronism so that the cells and the pallets mesh with each other.

A drive source, not shown, is provided to turn these wheels, as well as one of the pulleys 6, so that the belt 4 moves at a speed substantially equal to the peripheral speed of the pallets 3.

The assembly is housed and held in a housing 14 which encloses the wheel 10 in a cover arranged around the periphery and on its sides. This cover stops both on the sides and on the periphery of this wheel 10 at a very short distance from the winding path 5.

This casing also isolates the circuits 8 and 9 of the pulleys 6 in order to avoid the production of eddies which would impede the regular flow of air and of the products transported.

The housing 14 carries a squeegee 15 which is located in the suction circuit 8 and in contact with which the vanes 3 pass before coming into contact with the belt 4. It also carries a squeegee 16 which is in contact with the face. activates the belt, where it leaves the path of the pallets. Finally, a squeegee 17, also carried by the casing, is arranged at the point where the pallets 3 engage in the cells 11, the pallets passing in contact with this squeegee.

At the delivery orifice are arranged deflectors 18 fixed to the casing 14 and which contribute, on the one hand, to removing the products or dust from the place where the pallet will engage in the cell and, on the other hand hand, to reincorporate these products or dust into the mixture heading towards the discharge port.

The two conduits 9 and 8 are connected to each other by an auxiliary conduit 19 on which is interposed a safety valve 20 limiting the pressure difference between the two conduits.

The fan which has just been described operates as follows: the wheel 1 rotating in the direction of the arrow, the mixture of air and products to be transported is entrained in the annular space formed by the walls of the groove 2 and the belt 4, by the vacuum generated in this space by the movement of the pallets 3.

The products sucked in are almost immediately applied by centrifugal force against the belt 4. The squeegee 15 prevents dust from entering between this belt and the vanes 3, which makes it possible to obtain as great a seal as possible.

The products then leave the annular passage 2 in the direction of the tangent to the winding circumference of the belt, at the point where the latter leaves the rim of the wheel 1. These products escape through the duct 9.

The squeegee 16 detaches the dust or the products which adhere to it from the belt, while the squeegee 17 cleans the pallets as they enter the cells.

It can be seen that the ventilator which has just been described can be crossed by a mixture of air and granular or pulverulent products, without any damage resulting therefrom, either for itself or for the products transported.
