la fig. 5 est une vue en coupe de la partie supérieure du fût, à plus= grande échelle ; la fig. 6 est une vue en plan de la partie supérieure du fût, un couvercle étant supposé enlevé ; la fig. 7 est une vue en plan d'une rondelle ; la fig. 8 est une vue de la partie inférieure des jambes au cours de la phase de séparation du pneu de la jante ; la fig. 9 est une vue en élévation d'un or gane d'appui ; la fig. 10 est une vue en plan correspon dante ; la<B>fi-.</B> 11 montre une partie de jante de roue avec l'organe d'appui dans diverses posi tions ;
Pour cette présentation, les jambes 421 55 et 422 sont dis posées obliquement, comme visible sur la fig. 1, pour faciliter l'introduction. On actionne en suite la tige filetée 32 soit par le pan carré 34, soit en passant une barre dans la perforation 36. On, repousse ainsi progressivement, par co opération de la tête sphérique 33 avec le siège de forme correspondante 54, l'extrémité infé rieure des jambes en les faisant pivoter autour de l'axe 37 du support 20, ce dernier prenant appui par l'intermédiaire de l'organe 84 sur la jante ;
Tool for separating a tire from the rim of a wheel The subject of the invention is a tool for separating a tire from the rim of a wheel, for example from a wheel of a motor vehicle. It is known that such a separation poses a problem which is difficult to solve, especially in the case of large tires and especially when the rim of the wheel is rusted.
The invention aims to achieve a tool which is light, while being robust, easy and quick to set up, without the intervention of a mass or hammer being necessary, which ensures detachment and removal. of the tire in relation to its rim under all conditions, and which is of a simple and economical construction.
In addition, it must adapt to all the edges practically used, whatever their diameter or their shape in cross section, in order to thus have a universality of use which makes it possible to meet all the needs with this single tool. The tool according to the invention is characterized in that it comprises a device bearing on the rim of the wheel and a means for exerting pressure on a set of legs that this device comprises in order to introduce a spout which comprises this assembly between the rim flange and the bead of the tire, one of the legs of this assembly being able to slide longitudinally by means of a jack.
The appended drawing represents, by way of example, an embodiment of the tool which is the subject of the invention.
Fig. 1 is a view of the tool in the first phase of its installation; fig. 2 is a plan view of a triangular support included in the tool; fig. 3 is a sectional view of the leg carrying shaft; fig. 4 is a section taken along line 4-4 of FIG. 3; .
fig. 5 is a sectional view of the upper part of the barrel, on a larger scale; fig. 6 is a plan view of the upper part of the barrel with a cover assumed to be removed; fig. 7 is a plan view of a washer; fig. 8 is a view of the lower part of the legs during the phase of separating the tire from the rim; fig. 9 is an elevational view of a support organ; fig. 10 is a corresponding plan view; the <B> fi-. </B> 11 shows a part of the wheel rim with the support member in various positions;
fig. 12 is a view similar to FIG. 11, but for another type of rim; fig. 13 is a detail view. The tool shown comprises - a tri-angular support 20 leaving three bearings, thanks to holes 211 and 212, 221 and 222, 231 and 232 respectively defining a substantially isosceles triangle whose equal sides are 21 - 22 and 23 22, l 'other side having a length substantially equal to two thirds of the previous ones. This support comprises two flanges 241 242 extending by tabs 251 261 271, respectively 252 262 and 272.
The rigidity of the support is ensured by a spacer 28, as well as by a cross member 29 rotatably mounted by its ends 301 and 302 in the holes 231 and 232. The cross member 29 (Fig. 13) has a threaded transverse hole 31 with which cooperates a threaded rod 32, which ends at one end with a spheroidal appendage 33 and at its other end with a square pan 34, the latter extending a smooth part 35 of the rod, which has an eye 36.
In the holes 211 and 212 is rotatably mounted, by a pin 37, a barrel 38 which has for this purpose two ears 391 and 392 with holes 401 and 40 .. The upper part of the barrel is threaded at 41 (fig. . 5). The shank 38 is flanked at its lower part by two legs 421 and 422 which it is integral with, being obtained, for example, by casting with said legs or these being forged, and the legs end according to spouts 431 and 432 respectively. Each spout 43 has at the rear a rounded part 44 which is extended along a substantially planar face 45 very slightly upward with respect to the plane tangent to the rounded part 44 perpendicular to the axis of the barrel.
The upper face of the spout has a concave portion 46, then convex 47, descending, the intersection of which with the flat face 45 delimits the anterior edge 48 of the spout. The chimney 49 that limits the barrel is of generally cylindrical shape, but however has in its lower part parallel flats 501 and 502. A perpendicular flat 51 is formed by a plate 52 connecting the legs 421 and 422 and which has on its rear face 53 a spherical bearing surface 54.
Inside the chimney 49 is slidably mounted a central leg 55 of substantially square section and whose lateral faces 56 and 57 cooperate with the flats 501 and 502 and the rear face 58 with the flattened 51. The central leg 55 has over most of its height a bore 59, the upper part 60 of which is threaded. It ends, at its lower part, with a spout 62, the lower face of which has a rounded part 63, which is extended by a part 64 with very low curvature, which ends with a part 65 with reverse curvature. The upper face of the spout 62 has a rounded part 66, then an almost flat part 67, and finally a curve with a small radius 68, the extreme part of which is substantially vertical.
The length of the spout 62 is such as when the leg is brought in. placed in the barrel 38, the rectilinear edge 69 is slightly set back relative to the edges 481 and 482 of the nozzles 431 and 432 (FIG. 4).
Inside the bore 59 is housed a threaded rod 70 over its entire length, which presents at its upper part a bearing 71 and terminates in a square end piece 72 extending a shoulder 73. A washer 74 is inserted. between the bearing 71 and the upper edge 75 of the shank 38. The latter is capped by a cover 76 having a cylindrical orifice 77 for the housing of the shoulder 73, a hook 78 for the housing of the bearing 71 and a second recess 79 for housing the washer 74, the lower part of the body 80 of the cover being threaded at 81 to cooperate with the thread 41.
The thicknesses of the various shoulders and spans and the depths of the recesses are such that, when the cover 76 is screwed completely onto the barrel 38, the washer 74 is blocked between the upper edge 75 of the barrel 38 and the bottom of the recess 79 provided on lid ; a needle screw 61 secures the cover with the barrel in this position; on the other hand, the thickness of the bearing 71 is slightly less than the height of the step 78 so that, when the threaded rod 70 is rotated, it is the two flat faces of the bearing 71 which move opposite each other. the washer 74 and the bottom of the hook 78.
A lubricating plug 97 is disposed on the cover 76 and the lubricant which is introduced ensures the lubrication of the contact between the upper face of the bearing 71 and the cover; then the lubricant flows through a groove 98 and holes 991 and 99. formed in the bearing 71 to the contact surface between said bearing and the ron delle 74, the upper face of that -Here as a groove 100 as well as radial grooves 101 opening into the central opening 102 of the washer to ensure the wise greasing of the thread of the rod 70.
In a variant, a ball stop can be interposed between the bearing surface 71 and the edge of the barrel 38.
On a pin 82 housed in the holes 221 and 222 in an easily removable manner, thanks to a pin 83, is mounted, to rotate on the legs 261 and 262, a support member 84 which is shown in FIGS. 9 and 10. Said member comprises two cheeks 851 and 852 interconnected by tubular crossbars 86 and 87, which provide slots 88 and 89 in each of which can, at will, be introduced the pin 82. The outline of each of the cheeks comprises a substantially circular part 90, but slightly eccentric with respect to the axis of the light 89.
This part 90, which is almost circular, is extended by a part 91 of significantly greater radius of curvature and is connected by a flat 92 with a quasi rectilinear part 93 forming an angle close to 900 with the adjacent end of the part 91. Part 93 is connected to part 90 by a substantially rectilinear part 94, parallel to the facing portion of part 91. A spoiler 95 is provided at the connection between parts 94 and 93. Parts 90, 91 and 93 are toothed. The operation is as follows The support member 84 is placed on the triangular support 20, between the lugs 261 and 262 in correspondence with the shape of the rim on which the tire is placed which is to be removed. .
There are thus four possibilities: said support member can in fact be mounted either by its channel 88 or by its channel 89; in either case, it can be mounted either with its cheek 851 facing the tab 262 or with its cheek 852 facing said tab. In practice, the tool can thus be adapted to all types and all sizes of currently existing rims, whether the rim has a stepped flange or not. The support member resting on the internal face 96 of a rim 97, the edges 481 69 and 482 of the nozzles 431, 62 and 432 are presented at the connection between the flange 98 of the tire and the part of the rim with which he is in contact.
For this presentation, the legs 421 55 and 422 are placed obliquely, as visible in FIG. 1, to facilitate the introduction. The threaded rod 32 is then actuated either by the square face 34 or by passing a bar through the perforation 36. The end is thus gradually pushed back, by co operation of the spherical head 33 with the seat of corresponding shape 54, the end lower legs by causing them to pivot around the axis 37 of the support 20, the latter being supported by means of the member 84 on the rim;
during clamping between the branches of the clamp formed respectively by, on the one hand, the legs and, on the other hand, the support member 84, the latter pivots about its axis of rotation 82 and , because of its shape, in particular its eccentric contour, this rotation causes a wedging effect, which is increased by the presence of teeth on the edges of the cheeks 851 and 852 of the support member. This my work is continued until the axis of the barrel 38 and, consequently, the legs, are substantially vertical. For this position, the support member ensures, in cooperation with the jaws terminating the legs, an extremely solid fixing of the tool on the rim.
Fig. 11 shows, by way of example, some of the fixing positions taken by the support member 84. For the positions shown in <I> I </I> and <I> 11, </I> the mounting lumen used is lumen 89. For other positions, the mounting lumen can be either lumen 89 or lumen 88. It has been shown in 111- an initial position of the support member 84 and in <I> III '</I> the corresponding final fixing position of said support member. The, fig. 12 shows two different positions <I> IV </I> and <I> V </I> of the support member 84 for fixing the tool on a rim 103 having a step 104.
The operator then actuates the mechanical jack consisting of the threaded rod 70 cooperating with the threaded part 60 and this using a key which he threads onto the square end piece 72. By this actuation, the threaded rod, not able to move longitudinally due to 'its maintenance between, on the one hand, the washer 74 blocked on the barrel 38 and, on the other hand, the cover 76, as described above, advances downward the central leg 55, because of the ta raudage 60 that it presents; it is guided in its sliding by the flats 501 502 and 51.
It thus pushes back the side of the tire against which it comes to bear by the lower face 64 of its beak 62 (FIG. 8). It should be noted that the curved shape of the end of the nose 62 tends to move the flange away from the bottom of the rim. In addition, the fact that the edge 69 of the central beak 62 is set back with respect to the edges 481 and 482 of the side beaks 431 and 432 gives the assurance that during its movement, the central beak will not rub. against the bottom of the rim. This withdrawal also takes into account the circularity of the rim.
The actuation is continued until the part of the tire plumb with the place where the tool is placed is sufficiently depressed; if necessary, this operation is repeated at another place of the tire, after having placed a wedge in the place already treated, as is usual during the operation of tire changing devices.
The fact that it is the leg which presents the nut of the mechanical jack makes it possible to maintain the height of the tool to a minimum value the threaded rod, which does not move longitudinally, can be permanently housed in the barrel and its threads are thus protected.
