Tool-holder turret The present invention relates to a tool-holder turret, comprising a pivot provided with means allowing its attachment to a machine-tool, a support which can be oriented in different angular positions being engaged and fixed by clamping means on this pivot, this support having a quick fixing device on it of a tool holder part, the correct position of the tool holder part relative to the support being ensured by a set of corresponding grooves and ribs machined on these two rooms.
Tool-holder turrets of the type indicated above, which are currently known on the market, in general all have the defect of making the precision of fixing in position of the tool dependent on the clamping force exerted on the tool. the different clamping means that the known turrets include. Therefore, depending on whether the worker tightens these different clamping means more or less, the tool does not always occupy the same position.
The tool-holder turret according to the invention is characterized in that its quick fixing device comprises a part in the general shape of a hinge, penetrating into a corresponding groove that the tool-holder part has, a mechanism: eccentric acting on the part in the general shape of a hinge to move it transversely and thus cause the locking and rapid release of the tool-holder part relative to the orien-table support, the whole being arranged so that the fixing precision in position of the tool is independent of the clamping force exerted on the eccentric clamping mechanism.
The appended drawing represents, schematically and by way of example, one embodiment and some variant details of the tool-holder turret according to the invention.
Fig. 1 is an elevational view (in axial section along 1-1 of FIG. 2) of the tool-holder turret.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the same tool holder turret.
Fig. 3 is a plan view similar to the previous one, with partial section along 111-111 of FIG. 1.
Fig. 4 is an end elevational view of the tool turret.
Fig. 5 shows the shape of the inner rings that the tool turret comprises. Figs. 6 to 8 are views similar to the previous one showing variant crowns.
Figs. 9 to 13 show different variants of execution of the grooves and ribs assembly for the correct positioning of the tool holder part relative to its support.
With reference to fig. 1 to 5, the tool holder turret shown comprises a pivot 1 having an axial bore 2 through which passes a bolt 3, the head 4 of which is intended to be engaged in a T-shaped groove which, for example, the trolley of a turn. This pivot 1 also carries two guide bosses 5 intended to be engaged in the groove of the lathe carriage in order to fix the angular position of the pivot 1 thereon. The rigid fixing of the pivot 1 on the carriage due to the lathe is done by tightening the nut 6 screwed on the rod of the bolt 3.
On this pivot 1 is engaged a support 7 orientable in different angular positions. In fact, the pivot 1 and the orientable support 7 each carry a crown 8, respectively 9, these two crowns being corresponding and having respectively ribs and notches engaging together to fix the various angular positions of the support 7 relative at pivot 1.
As seen in Figs. 1 and 5, the crowns 8 and 9 each have a regular size 10, the teeth of one engaging between those of the other crown. In addition, a spring device, formed in the particular case of a spring 11 having only one turn, is interposed between the pivot 1 and the orientable support 7 and tends to separate the two. rings 8 and 9, so as to allow an easy change of the angular position of the support 7 relative to the pivot 1, after release of the clamping means intended to hold these two parts 1 and 7 together.
These clamping means comprise in the particular case a conical washer 12 bearing on the support 7 and carrying on its lower face a stud 13 engaged in a notch 14 of the pivot 1, this stud 13 and this notch 14 maintain in an angular position determined the conical washer 12 which bears an angular graduation not shown in the drawing. A nut 15 screwed onto the length of the bolt 3 allows the washer 12 to be tightened against the support 7 and, therefore, the locking of the two rings 8 and 9 one in the other.
The orientable support 7 has a device for rapid attachment to it of a tool-holder part 16 on which is arranged a groove 17 intended to receive the tool itself. Screws 18 allow the tool to be blocked in this groove 17. The correct position of the tool holder part 16 relative to the support 7 is ensured by a set of corresponding grooves and ribs machined on these two parts 16 and 7.
In the first embodiment, and as clearly shown in Figs. 2 and 3, it can be seen that the support 7 has a groove 19 while the tool-holder part has a corresponding projection 20 intended to engage exactly in the groove 19.
The quick fixing device comprises a part 21 in the general shape of a hinge carried by the support 7 and which is intended to be secured in a groove 22, of corresponding shape, which the tool holder part 16 has. This part 21 in hinge shape has an extension 23 engaged in a housing 24 of the support 7. In this extension 23 is arranged: a circular hole 25, in which engages a shaft 26. The two ends 27 and 28 of this shaft 26 rotate in bearings that the support 7 presents. The central part 29 d and this shaft 26 is eccentric with respect to the ends 27 and 28.
As can be understood without further ado, any drive in rotation using a key fitted to the square 30 of the shaft 26 will cause the hinge-shaped part to move transversely 21. This shaft 26 therefore constitutes an eccentric clamping mechanism, allowing the quick locking and unlocking of the tool holder part 16 against the support 7.
Screw adjustment means make it possible to fix the height of the tool-holder part 16 relative to its support 7. These means comprise a part 31 fixed by screws 32 on the tool-holder part 16. This part 31 present in its central part a ta raudé bore 33, in which is engaged a screw 34 with a knurled head 35. The end 36 of this screw 34 abuts against the upper end of the hinge-shaped piece 21. Like this shaped piece hinge 21 is arranged vertically, as also the grooves and ribs 19 and 20, it is understood without further that by screwing or unscrewing the screw 34 more or less, it is possible to vary the height position of the tool holder part 16 in relation to the support 7.
In addition, a knurled locknut 37 makes it possible to block the screw 34 in a stable position relative to the part 31. It should be noted that the part in the form of a hinge 21 and in particular its extension 23 is placed with play in the support. 7, which allows the cylindrical part of this part 21 to move in the transverse direction.
Thus, when tightening the eccentric mechanism 26, the part 21 lends itself to the movement of approach of the tool holder part 16 against the support 7, which guarantees a correct positioning, independent of the force of tightening exerted on the mechanism 26. Similarly, the shape of the teeth 10 of the crowns 8 and 9 also ensures, in each angular position of the support 7 on its pivot 1, a position of rigorous adjustment independent of the tightening force exerted on it. nut 15.
Fig. 6 shows a variant of the toothing of the crowns 8 and 9 according to which this toothing 38, instead of being at a sharp angle, like the toothing 10, is of rounded shape. In the variant shown in FIG. 7, the rings 8 and 9 have on their opposite face a series of corresponding housings 39 at least in part conical. Balls 40 are placed in the conical housings 39 of the lower crown 8 and protrude out of them so as to be able to engage in the conical housings 39 of the upper crown 9 to fix the angular position of the orientable support. 7 on its pivot 1.
In fig. 8, one of the crowns, in this case the crown 8, has a series of holes 41, the entry of which is conical. The other ring 9 has on its face facing holes 42 in which are fixed conical pivots 43 intended to engage in the conical part of the holes 41 of the ring 8. In this variant, it is not necessary that the crown 9 has as many pivots 43 as the crown 8 itself has holes 41. For example, the crown 9 could carry only three pivots 43 regularly spaced.
The sets of grooves and ribs for fixing the tool holder part 16 in the correct position on the support 7 shown in fig. 9 to 13 all have grooves or green towards the outside with respect to each of these parts 7 and 16 respectively, that is to say grooves having no recessed corners and difficult to access for cleaning. As a result, these easy-to-clean grooves and ribs allow the quick and precise positioning of the tool holder part 16 on its support 7.
In fig. 9, it can be seen that the grooves and ribs assembly comprises a rib 44 which the support 7 carries and which is intended to engage in a groove 45 formed in the tool holder part 16. On the opposite side of the parts 7 and 16, these have two flat faces 46 and 47 intended to abut one against the other.
Fig. 10 shows a variant, in which each part 7, respectively 16, carries a series of corresponding grooves 48 and ribs 49, all arranged pa rallel to a vertical axis, these grooves and ribs being of generally triangular section. Fig. 11 shows a variant in which the grooves 50 and ribs 51 are of semi-circular shape.
As to fig. 12, it shows a variant in which the grooves and ribs are identical to those according to the first embodiment shown in FIGS. 1 to 5, but in reverse arrangement, the groove 52, which is similar in shape to the groove 19, being made in the tool holder part 16 while the rib 53, similar in shape to the rib 20, is formed on the support 7. The variant shown in FIG. 13 shows that the support 7 has two ribs 54 projecting on its face facing the tool holder part 16, the latter having two corresponding grooves 55 in which the ribs 54 engage.
All these different variants of the set of grooves and ribs used for the correct fixing of the tool holder part 16 on the support 7 ensure a precise fixing of these two parts one on the other, which is however independent of the clamping force exerted on the eccentric mechanism 26.
